A lot of it is the fact that the Riders control the message from the local media. It is taboo in the big trapezoid to utter anything but praise of the Riders. The sheep grow up hearing nothing but positive vibes and believe it. Rod Pederson, the most homerific announcer of all time, said one bad thing about Riders management and he was shown the door. Now Derek Taylor appears to have lost his mind as well....not a coincidence...it's in their contracts.

There is only one player on their starting 7 that I would want as a starter here and he is over the hill..

???...Ekakitie entered last season on the 2nd year of a 3 year contract with the Bombers. They did not give him any dollars pegged for Thomas. They purposely let Fatboi ride off into the sunset last year and only brought him back when Marouf suffered a career ending injury and Ekakitie showed up in terrible shape for TC. Had neither of those things happened, Fatboi would be out of football. He responded very well after being signed during TC last year, but let's not pretend that providence didn't play a huge role in him being brought back or that last year he wasn't deemed expendable..

2019 Main Training Camp
The fact that Rempel is 38 is the ONLY reason the Bombers have brought this kid in for a little exposure. At 38 players, even guys in great shape like Rempel, can sustain freak injuries. Smart of Walters to bring the kid to camp, give him a taste of pro football, so that if their is a freak injury he's not starting from ground zero. Let's face reality though, he has almost zero chance of beating out Rempel. That's not a slight on his ability at all, just the undeniable fact that Rempel is the best long snapper in the league bar none. You simply don't cut someone like that. Age is pretty much irrelevant to the position of LS.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
Are you sure that figure is accurate? I was told we were in the 21-22k range right now.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
Don't worry he will have his dynamic 2 yard hitch pass offence running tighter than a drum by game 1. Collaros will not even be touched. He will only throw for 47 ypg and have 4 TD passes on the season....but they will protect him. Saskatchewan is no wild card so long as they have a Faberge egg QB and an OC that shuts down his play book because of that.

Almost certainly is and the pressure created by the soft pillowy air cushioning will give him a concussion before the end of camp.

Rookie Camp Discussion
Not really a flyer when you have the inside info that he wants to play. Other teams are probably kicking themselves right now for not checking in on him.
-
Rookie Camp Discussion
He was the top ranked CFL prospect at the point of his decision to "retire" and was on many NFL teams radar as a draft pick. If he can come back he is the steal of the draft.

Rookie Camp Discussion
For sure. Until the deal is ratified, a QB, with a roster spot locked up, showing solidarity should be expected. Further to that, why risk injury at this point. I am sure that we will see both before the end of rookie camp when the coaches need some better throws to really separate the wheat from the chaff.

Players You're Excited To See
I'm interested to hear what that ratio might be in the new CBA

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
Defence and depth are massive question marks for you guys this year. Reminds me a lot of the 2018 Eskimos. I think you will finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th in the West. I do like your team more than the Riders or Eskimos right now.

Players You're Excited To See
I'm excited to see the new crop of recruits at receiver, Lucky at PR, Gray, Eli, and possibly Drew on the OL, and which of our sophomores have continued in their development.

Bomber News: 2019 Off Season
If working out the ratio were only as simple as having open competitions regardless of passports....but they are not. Sometimes, you have to pencil in a player that is not as good as his American counterpart because from a total team building/ratio perspective it is what will make for the strongest team over all within the confines of the ratio rules. There are very few NAT players on our team that would survive the passport challenge. The trick is to play NAT starters in positions where the least amount or no drop off from the ratio is incurred. Gray is not competing against Foketi, he is competing against a ratio number and all the other NATs trying to get or maintain a starting position. If he constitutes the least amount of drop off, or none at all, from Foketi than other players would constitute then he will win the job.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
When you have a McAdoo led offence with a mentally and physically fragile QB at the helm, and a porous OL, you better have a punter that can help salvage some of the negative field position your offence is going to produce.

CIS Draft - May 2nd
There were other QB available to him after Buck went down. He chose to enter his final seasons with Brink and Elliott and that was a major mistake.
-
CIS Draft - May 2nd
Taman would be one of the league's top GMs right now if it weren't for the SMS. He just never was able to grasp the concept and the game passed him by.
-
CIS Draft - May 2nd
Taman provided JJ, it is revisionist history to say that Kelly was more responsible for the 2011 defence than Mack. I thought Mack was a lousy GM but he was leaps and bounds better than Kelly. That guy was a disgusting blemish on our organization.
-
CIS Draft - May 2nd
Actually, I was incorrect. Johnson was brought in by Taman in 2008. I wouldn't call Odell and Hefney the nucleus of our defence in 2011. 15% of the defensive starting roster were Kelly recruits/acquisitions. Pretty tough to make the claim he was the architect of that defence based on that.
-
CIS Draft - May 2nd
Baloney. I'm not defending Mack but Kelly only had 3 starting D players he recruited from 2009 remaining on the 2011 team. Odell, Jovon, and Hefney. The rest were all Taman holdovers and Mack recruits. Mack brought in the following D players to the 2011 team: Bryant Turner, Jason Vega, Kenny Mainor, Alex Suber, Johnny Sears, Marcellus Bowman, Clint Kent, Henoc Muamba Mack was a terrible GM because he didn't put stock in having a proven QB, didn't draft well, was cheap, and didn't value the importance of the NATs. However, it is revisionist history to suggest he was a poor scout or poor at IMP recruitment.

I like Drover but I really think Hargreaves has a 1000 yard season in him.

Players You're Excited To See
As this long offseason comes to a close, I am literally excited to see all the players. Heck. I even miss Buzz and Boomer. Bring it on!!
