I think we are all over reacting to a poor defensive game very early in the season with a boat load of players adjusting to new positions and new players in general. It takes time to gel given this amount of change on defence. It will tighten up. Our O and STs are doing very well early, I am more worried about them keeping up their torrid pace. At any rate, we have seen some very positive changes thus far. Just need to tighten things up. You do get some exemption on a coaching fire. That being said the time we could have done it has passed. These are our guys for better or for worse, the echo chamber about MOS and Walters has a lot of tread left before we hear the end of it. Is there any proof that he has acted at all, or even wants to do so?

If we are going to reset then we have to fix it right from the roots up. Walters giving a new coach carte blanche does nothing.

This isn't a usual situation. Its 11 years of available evaluation on both of them. It is extremely clear that Walters cannot use MOS as his mulligan. There is no world in which anyone could believe that Walters did a good job only to be screwed up by MOS. MOS compounded the problem to be sure but our management group has not brought in or retained a reasonable amount of talent. Anyone blaming MOS solely for that is doing so out of bias. They are tied at the hip. If it is decided that the trinity must be broken up then the broom needs to come out and we do a full reset or we end up in the exact same situation. If that sets us back temporarily so be it. That being said I believe that we are in much better shape in all areas than last year. Our D will come around and our O and coaching is far better. Even Younger is just getting a new lineup to row together, that will come.

I vehemently disagree. If one goes they both have to go. It would take a forensic expert months to find the separation between the two. It is absolutely nauseating how ppl here want MOS fired but Walters retained. The Bombers problems, if they are a fireable offense, are the fault of both men. A true chicken and the egg scenario. MOS wont change his roster but Walters gives him zero young talent to do so. Firing MOS but keeping Walters would be monumentally stupid. Walters and the scouts have been horrid since Rigmaiden left

We've lost one game. We are jumping the gun on anyone getting fired. We got torched defensively and that had zero to do with roster construction. JY and Richie need to do a better job.

By that logic the ultimate responsibility for the roster construction is KWs. If he has a coach exhibiting flaws he is responsible for correcting it.

Randolphs only route to stay was PR when Tui wasnt game 1 starter. The fact that Randolph chose to leave tells me that Tui ain't capable of starting anytime soon

Or maybe Kyle Walters doesnt have the eye for talent. No one can name one player that MOS didn't play that has gone onto being an above average player in this league. Im serious...name one decent player we lost that wasnt SMS. That's on KW. If MOS after 10 years was playing less talented players certainly one name could be easily found. NAME ONE!

Maybe Eli is out due to injury and gets his job back. However, it's also possible he isn't very good. Let's hope for the first one. I miss Kenny Lawler too

Offence has dramatically improved over last year. Our problem in our loss this week was the D. I could give a crap what Wheatfall and Sterns did this week. They both had big games for us too..problem was they only produced 2 or 3 of them in a season. I'll call letting them go a mistake when they actually put up a decent season not just show the occasional flash. They were two guys that the vast majority of this forum wanted gone. What's changed? Name one player that is turning into a superstar? Wheatfall? Maybe if he can do this consistently because inconsistency is why we let him walk. Who else? Myron Mitchell...surely you jest. If you wanna talk Dobson or Lawler that's 100 percent on Walters not nailing them down. Liegghio? Lmao.

They are very good and if we can even be spoken in the same sentence as them we are in good shape.

Same thing we did in camp with several guys in TC just before we axed them maybe. Could be they just wanted to give Kelly a look with all the talent around him to see if there is anything there left to salvage. Just a theory. Yea...for sure. Calgary is pretty deep as well but we are right there with them I think.

Our DL is easily the most improved unit in all of the CFL I would say....if we can get that kind of rotation going....scary.

I stand by my theory that Younger is rotating guys outside the DL, particularly in the Lber crew, because the talent level among them is that darn close and since it is, why not give our aging backers both a rest and some competition nipping on their heels. If one of the young guys grabs a job by the onions that would be a bonus and something I'm sure that Younger is hoping for. Let's face it, if T Jones and KW are our plan beyond this year then we have some serious problems. Therefore, I think this year Younger is transitioning. Let the vets soak up reps while they are still useful, but if a young guy pushes one of them out, that would be the goal.

I think we are likely going with Texada over Kelly as well. Be interesting now that Smith is healthy if it translates into him and Shay taking on the Woodby role. I like the use of LBers thus far, although maybe a little too much rotation, but guys are seeing the field. With the heavy rotations we saw in game 1, it seems to me that Younger is looking for someone to step up and grab the job at a few positions. I like that. Ride the hot hand if one emerges.

I agree. MOS should not allow Younger to get too cute with his lineup, Walters should not allow OSH to play favorites, and OSH should be banging down the door asking for holes in his roster to be filled. Let's be clear at certain times over the past few years we have seen both Osh and Walters underperform. If this is a trinity, someone needs to step in when Walters takes a season off and kick his arse, or when Osh doesn't have the plums to take JT off the roster. I seriously think that Walters has been our biggest problem the past 2-3 years because he is supposed to be the bottom line, and coming out of the business world I've learned that you don't blame your employees for the mess because it is on you to make sure that doesn't happen. That being said it looks like Walters showed up to earn his pay cheque this year, now it's time for the coaches to make sure the work pays off. As much as we like to grouse about Jake Kelly taking a few practice reps, it seems that Osh's rostering looks better this year.

Younger picks his starting lineup. Was confirmed in two separate interviews. I agree that the bottom line falls to MOS though. Seems we've got our answer and it is Texada.

I think it can be safely argued that in all of those scenarios you laid out the defences on those teams left a lot to be desired as well.

I am not hung up on how many touches Brady O gets as a receiver, but I am hung up on the reasons why he may get so many touches. If his number is legit called out of the back field as a receiver because of something our OC is trying to do, or sees, I could care less how many touches he gets unless they are unproductive. However, if most of his touches are because he is the safety valve and our OL is not holding up or our receivers are not winning their routes then I agree with you. That is more or less what we saw last year and you are right that is problematic.

I actually agree with you on this. I think if Condell is thinking outside the box with the personnel at his disposal he could really set up an offence that is very hard to defend and to prepare for. I haven't looked at it yet, have to do that ASAP.

I like Shay at WIL a lot better but agree he could play MIKE. I really don't think they are trying shoehorn him in at SAM. I think the preseason look there was more about seeing where he might fit into a 3-4 defence.

Time for my wild prediction of the year before the season starts: Jake Maier plays well enough but not great in Ottawa, in game 4-6 Dinwiddie gives Dru Brown the start and he gets concussed and sidelined in his first start. Maier returns to action the next game and begins playing better while Brown languishes on the bench. In week 13 Zac Collaros suffers a season ending injury, and Elgersma gets the tap to start. After a couple games TE suffers a broken foot leading to a Winnipeg QBing crisis. A trade for Dru Brown is worked out with Ottawa bringing him back to the Bombers. Brown catches fire, while at the same time Winnipeg shuffles the deck on defence to tighten it up. Bombers who are 3rd in the West go on the road and begin a heater culminating in bringing home a Grey Cup. Taylor Elgersma, plays a pivotal role on a broken foot throughout the playoffs as the Bombers change of pace QB. At the Grey Cup parade both Taylor Elgersma and Chris Streveler show up shirtless and wearing fur coats and smoking cigars. Life is right in Bomberland again. (I would like to note that I am not wishing injury on any QB in this post and would hate to see this exact scenario roll out with the exception of the Grey Cup part)

I would put TE on the 1 game IR, not sure how being released to the PR would affect his rookie contract status.
