The injury losses turned out to be a blessing in disguise, and that's not meant to poop on Wilson, Bighill or Schoen....all great players. But in a year we needed to see some development of young players we did. All 3 of those losses could have skidded us out of the playoffs if the offseason we had from the scouts and the GM hadn't been so solid. Man...our LBer crew came out of nowhere at the exact right time, A guy like Bonds just steps in seamlessly and has an all star level season. On and on I could go. What particularly impresses me is how much further along we are towards have a very real and legit chance at the home GC this year because we're not aging out a ton of players and the guys we are we have field tested their replacements. Just solid team building.

The two finger salute is pretty harmless. I agree. I am not at all caring about that if I am Riders management or a fan. Lack of professionalism, class, character...that is what would have me upset. Its not the actual gesture, its what the gesture shows about one of the players. Since Labor Day, Zacs numbers have been off the charts. This is not the same guy we had early in the season. They guy has been balling for a while now this year and seems to have his confidence and game back. Therefore, it would not at all surprise me if Zac ripped them up. If Buck has the right game plan going in, I would not want any other QB in the league executing it right now.

Cannot say enough how big of a loss Lawson was to our DL this year. I hope he is ready to go next year. Really odd but a lot of our concerns this year at many positions were because we lost some real under the radar guys for long stretches. Just a crap start to the season injury wise, took us a while to polish up a few gems, and now we are back to the team we have grown accustomed to the past several years. I know early things looked bleak, and I just never feared we wouldnt be in this Grey Cup because, at least to me, you could really see the potential of a lot of the new guys and that we just needed to let them get their feet under them. Just a really spot on year of recruitment, drafting, and fly under the radar FA signings by our GM and scouts. Where are we this year if Wilson, Wheatfall, Ayers, Bonds etc. were not in camp. This may turn out to be one of those years we look back on and say wow....look at the guys we brought in 2024. Even the Nick Taylor signing to cap the year is looking really good, or at least a lot better than most would have thought.

Hey I like the guy, I just dont see leaving him off the roster as a huge loss given the Argos strengths and weaknesses. The Argos only hope to win is Carey having the game of his life, and Arbuckle being able to dink and dunk with success. Neither of those two things really play into the DT strengths that Adams brings. Our punter sucks as a general rule, but his placement and weird ball flight may help make Grant less of a factor.

Adams was pretty inconsistent his last couple games and struggled in the run game. Woods was a huge loss to us though, Too bad he couldnt go.

Roster management in our crazy league means you cant build your roster unit by unit. Ratio comes into play. We needed 7 we got them. After seeing the roster, I dont foresee how anybody could reasonably make the argument that roster management lost us the Grey Cup if the unthinkable happens. Headscratchers are at the very fringe of our lineup and really are not egregious in any way.

Dobson too. Heck out entire OL wore their cement shoes that game.

I hope we see a LOT more of Gabe Wallace. Freakin stud that guy. Just speculating man. Donèt know what the deal is, just throwing it out there that sometimes roster decisions are made based on info we will never have. So what looks dumb to us, could be a perfectly legit move. Nah....Keric is the logical choice imo.

MCI looked like he was bit nicked last game. Maybe there was more there than what meets the eye.

Nah..If he is good to go let him play. Game shape doesnt really apply in this case as he has been splitting reps with Clercius. We needed extra beef along both lines. Something had to give.

Tyrell can be a shut down guy though. I never saw that from Milligan. Boom and bust DB. Our best DB is Nichols and have the league doesn't even know his name.

Why not? They were in the back half of the league defensively this year. This isn't 2023. They are NOT the defensive juggernaut they used to be. The Argos are a team that surrendered just shy of 500 points.

Easy...nope...but if they bring their best and we bring ours it's a Bomber victory. Turnovers will have to be avoided for sure. However, having watched Arbuckle play in the past I am sure that any turnover advantage they think they might have is completely null and void now. He tosses a ton of errant passes.

Our OL and DL will show up....make no mistake about that. Each of our matchup since 2022? We played you guys once in 2023 and beat the tar out of you guys running for almost 200 yards against your vaunted physicality. Exactly. It's a saw off at worst for the Bombers. The Argos have given us trouble mainly because of turnovers the past couple years.

GREY CUP Thread
I disagree with all that you wrote being an advantage Argos. I take issue with it all. Elite defenders....have you seen our defence this year? It has been elite top to bottom. More physical? That is your opinion but I hope Brady and the hogs read this because it will be a can of whoop ass on Sunday. You think you have some kind of coaching advantage? Really? Glue is the only explanation. Deepest most talented roster? Ummm....no...
-
GREY CUP Thread
You are sniffing glue. No nice way to put it. Sorry. You think you have an advantage in talent and depth? I'd say that's pretty even. More physical? Wait until Sunday because physicality is also our game. A coach that routinely out game plans and adjusts to his opposition? Bombers stack up with any coaching staff. PERIOD. Defenders and specialists who can score and take the ball away? Bombers match up no problem. All these things that you list at worst for the Bombers are a wash. Reasons we will win? QB....like not even in the same stratosphere. Team defence....Bombers are the best by a country mile Big time players....Bombers have the guys who thrive on the big stage. Culture, dedication, heart......we win by a million miles

Against a guy like Arbuckle you just let him throw and hang himself. Unlike Harris we have threats that will eat you alive if you want to do something dumb like bringing max pressure all the time.

Milligan is a great ball hawk who reads the play real well. I'll give him that. He and the rest of the Sask secondary gave up a butt load of passing yards and TDs through the air. Dangerous DB to throw against? Yep....one that should be avoided because he is a shut down guy....nope.
-
CFL - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
I am of the opinion that a DB with high tackle totals is not a good thing for any defence. When tackles are coming in the secondary your defence has lost the plot. I am not sure that Milligan's tackle totals should be used against him per se, but they shouldn't be celebrated either. You are also correct that teams threw 100 more passes against the Riders than against us....again...not a stat any team should love to see in the CFL. You put Ford in for Milligan this year, I think Ford has better stats. What do you not get about it? It may or not may be true...who knows...but it is close enough that the conversation should definitely take place.

And that is exactly why the Rider culture of me first, unprofessionalism, and lack of discipline will keep rearing it's ugly head. The fans don't demand better, in fact, they celebrate it. There have been at least one here, however, over there they are not just lacking apology....they don't see the harm in it at all.

His ability to dominate a game opens up our entire offence. He is probably the guy that other teams game plan the most for, and he still beats their game plan almost every week.

The Coach Lapo On Youtube Thread
One of the best X's and O's guys out there. Probably knows as much or more about that than any football coach in this league. That is not what a HC does though. He's got coordinators for that.

I agree they are tough to handle, but what we witnessed a few weeks back was the interior of our OL getting completely matadored on even straight 1v1 assignments. Sure they can scheme pressure looks and stunts that will give us trouble, but I expect our OL to win 1v1 blocking assignments and that week they were off the mark and just poor reaction time all around. It seemed like they did not have a good week of prep. I expect a far different result this week. I also expect a game plan by Buck that will make them pay if they intend to just bull rush us.
