  1. I'm super confused at Chris-Ike being added for Murphy. Chris-Ike was on the roster last week. I count 45 on both this depth chart and the one for the Calgary game too. Who is actually on for Murphy?
  2. Under Unnecessary Roughness, here's the definition of spear CFL Rulebook 2024 Rule 7 Article 4 Part F: Spear: When a player uses the top of their helmet as the primary point of contact to deliver a blow to an opponent.
  3. Oakman joins the freakshow D in Edmonton. No interest in him whatsoever. Extremely overrated. Really liking Woods and Adams to a lesser extent...needs to learn how to aim a bit and not just shoot to steal a line from Odell Willis.
  4. To me Woods has that nose spot covered with the Canadians. Adams can kind of line up anywhere. 3 tech just refers to where the guy lines up, like mostly a B gap guy in a very linear sense. It's shifted a lot as focus has moved to pass rush over simple gap control. The occupy 2 OL thing is just a matter of how effective you are and how the other team schemes based on who they view as a threat. In run scheme you're trying to double team across the front and then work up to the linebacker/2nd level, base zone run now leaves backside end out or usually brings a back/receiver to chip/duo block across formation. So if you're any DL vs the run and you can jam up those blocks so that 2nd OL can't break off to get at your LB's that's a pretty big win. The only teams I see consistently running a gap scheme with run blocking are Hamilton and Montreal, sometimes Sask. Zone is pretty basic now and way more responsive to the fronts you see without having to check at the line. They are missing really solid rush end and the swing guy. Fayad looks ok, hard to judge anyone off the edge when Jefferson playing so passive to the point he's getting a lot looks where blocking back is just standing there watching him straight away. The opposite end is actually the guy getting the layers of blocking basically since the Ottawa game. Jefferson has a handful of snaps in a given game this season where he fires off and is a threat.
  5. Thought he was getting moved too easy vs the run against Montreal. He's not explosive, not pushing pocket, not getting pressures not a lot of redeeming qualities there for an interior guy. Adams is extremely explosive, but very raw. He is already impactful and has a way to go. Woods is not getting moved at all, he's where we want him to be so guys aren't busting off 4+ yards before contact and he's also getting pressures. He gives the LB's a real solid chance to do their jobs. Fox would be an easy chop for me and I'd be bringing in American DL until you find another guy who can really play. My preference would be to look at guys who are more of the 3 tec/weakside end types, 6'1 255-270 body type.
  6. I don't think Fox is much of a player. Adams looking good but invisible last week. Haba too is pretty meh. See what Garbutt has soon hopefully. Woods is looking like a solid nose. Occupies gap, occupies blocks, make some plays when they are there but most importantly does his job.
  7. Oliviera has barely played this season.
  8. To add to this...Lucky Whitehead is not a good receiver. He's a playmaker type guy. He's not going to stabilize our offense. We need a strong workhorse type of slotback, great technical receiver. Without that kind of guy there's no space for someone like Whitehead to do what he does well anyways.
  9. Yeah Collaros mobility has declined significantly even since 2021. There's not much scrambling anymore. You need an all-time elite OL to keep him producing. And that's hard to do even if you spend money on OL. Like our OL peaked in 19-21 and has been declining since. I don't feel we'd be much better off if we paid Hardrick if at all. He was quite bad last season and isn't lighting it up in Sask.
  10. Turns out the wins are ******* off.
  11. Brown is looking pretty damn solid in terms of playing a clean game but also having that ability to make every throw and open it up. Gonna be sad watching his career and lots of wins unfold somewhere else.
  12. Looks like a guy who wishes the stadium was still in St James.
  13. Sounds like every receiver I've ever met. Would have had 2000 yards and 25 TDs if QB would have just thrown me the ball. Forget the fact that when the plays were there to be made they quit on their route or dropped the ball. God I hate receivers.
  14. Garbutt is highly touted for a guy who hasn't set foot on the field. He might want to quit now while he's ahead.
  15. Dru Brown's got ice water in his veins. Ottawa just needs to get out of Lapo's coaching tree now.
  16. Edmonton bid their 1st rounder 2025 for Zach Mathis. So no one else had a shot at him.
  17. You're assuming these guys are in shape to play though. Same with Agudosi. Ellingson only got into a handful of games his past 2 CFL seasons with a pretty gnarly foot issue.
  18. Let Streveler get reps with the young receivers too and they'll probably develop some chemistry. Even in that game saw lots of evidence of that happening 15-20 mins in. You're not going to throw the ball 40 times with Streveler but if you can't build an offense around him, Oliviera, Augustine, Smith, Feltmate, 7 OL and whatever receivers we have you're a dumbass. So much for a D to have to think about there, just give them looks where they have to make a choice to free up some space for a runner or receiver. There's no use running empty backfields and even 3 by 2 etc type formations. Make everyone on the field have to look into backfield to try to diagnose what might happen. You get a couple guys stopping their feet and thinking and you have big plays or at least first downs. Smith is likely the most dangerous American we have on the roster. If he doesn't have a role on offense next week it will be extremely disappointing.
  19. They talk in there like he’ll familiar with offense. He never played with Collaros he was already out of the lineup by the time Collaros took over in 19. CFL vet sure.
  20. That was Dobson who completely quit on the play when Collaros still had the ball. Coatney wasn’t even moving until Dobson disengaged and gave him a free run into the pocket.
  21. Maybe he found a Time Machine to go back to when his feet still worked…but Whitehead is just another guy in that 6’ and under mix. We need a couple guys with a catch radius who can work in traffic. Guy I was thinking of who is done is Darvin Adams…like that style of receiver. I would consider someone like Wieneke as a stop gap just to get someone who is somewhat useful on the field. Hopefully Alston can play and catch the ball.
  22. Why would he be expensive? He's making $0 right now. I don't think he's what we need anyway.
  23. I'd say we were pretty lucky with the wind factor basically killing any vertical passing tonight. We got to load up. Even then the Stamps made a lot of plays on us outside the numbers because our guys aren't rallying to the ball. They made some really bad play calls to go vertical when we could do nothing to stop a screen, or that 2 man route with a vertical run at the corner and a quick out by the slot to the sideline.
  24. 0-4 and have been favoured to win every game. Was going to put down a chunk on Calgary covering 3.5 tonight but chickened out.
  25. Adjust to what though? That's just straight up getting beat. Calgary was picking on our DB's not getting off blocks and our LB's (talking the true LB's here, Wilson and Bighill) having no range to do anything against those plays. Then you see like Montreal did teams will show those looks to draw DB eyes and go vertical.
