Time For The CFL To Levy Fines On The Refs For Tacky Calls
Honestly, the biggest WTF this game was "we can't review due to technical difficulties with the command centre". WTF was that about. THAT IS BUSH LEAGUE STUFF. The Command Centre uses the same TSN feed for reviews. So without the TSN feed to review. They couldn't review it. It's quite simple actually. thats very bush league then to be relying on the tsn feed, why bother going to the command centre then, why not go up to black and forde to make the call then. The play is under review by the tsn announcers is what they should be saying then. I'm not sure what you want them to do? It's the same in the NFL. The reviews are made based on the different camera angles provided by the broadcasting network. Otherwise the league would have to use their own cameras and that would never happen. This is the first time it's happened in history of league reviews. Not bad if you ask me. What do I want them to do? Have a backup plan. If they lose the feed and can't review that play, there should be no reviews for the rest of the game for starters. It's more bush league to play part of a game under one set of rules and the rest under another set than it is to not have review at all. In terms of a backup plan, the stadium feed was working, the play was being replayed from at least 3 different angles on screens throughout the stadium. Each CFL game has an officiating supervisor. In the case that the Command Centre loses their feed, all reviews should go through the supervisor on site.

A Healthy Renaud - Does He Get Back In?
Next guy up would have to be a new American find. Renaud can't placekick to save his life so he's no help anywhere but punting. This is the point that many seem to be missing. Renaud isn't really a backup for Hajrullahu. Renaud will be here until the end of the season, but his career as a regular CFL punter is probably over.

FNF - Montreal @ Ottawa / Sask. @ Edmonton
Refs love Dressler.

Keep seeing Coehoorn make plays in Edmonton...at least Jade still has a few years to reach his potential.

RedBlacks @ Riders
That's the kind of effort that landed Jovon Johnson in Ottawa.

RedBlacks @ Riders
Love how they mention the 16 tackle game for Reggie Hunt against the Bombers. Only problem was that Charles Roberts ran for almost 200 yards in that game and we won. Most useless stat.

Rick Campbell borrowed a high school playbook for this week.

That guys dreadlocks have dreadlocks, DB on Ottawa. How is that comfortable?

Dressler's second tainted punt return TD. Open season on kickers?

Running on 2nd and 6... We have so much confidence in you Tino!

Stamps @ Als
Amazing the amount of PI they miss where DB's make no attempt to play the ball at all, then they call this one.

Jon Cornish Not Travelling To Montreal
Trolls were fed. Maybe we can give the Rider fan his own forum so he can post ad nauseam about the history of message boards, the politics of message boards and his own message board career in an echo chamber. Seems to be what he/she wants. Then the rest of us can talk football.

Eskimos @ Ticats
Both coaches managing this game terribly in the dying minutes...Austin did the ol' Tim Burke punt for a single attempt vs a 42 yard field goal, punt got about 1 yard past the goal-line, but luckily for Austin the returner decided to go backwards. Jones doesn't go for 2 to give his kicker a chance to kick for the single to tie on the kickoff.

Eskimos @ Ticats
I like how the announcers are just flummoxed by the officiating and don't even know what to expect anymore.
-
Eskimos @ Ticats
Wow, Austin with a blunder, only to be saved by a bigger blunder by the Edmonton returner.

Eskimos @ Ticats
Keep Collaros in the pocket and he can't do a whole lot. Will be interesting to see if we can do that next week.

Tweaking Our Current Receivers
I disagree. There's huge value in keeping a defense off balance and guessing. A few passes per game to Fitzgerald, and a few runs up the middle for Pontbriand would help do that. I never said replace Watson with Fitzgerald in the slot. There are much better ways to break tendency that would keep the ball in the hands of playmakers. For the most part, defenses won't lose track of eligible receivers, especially downfield. So you're basically tossing a 2-3 yard pass (vertically, might be a much longer pass in real distance for the QB) out to Fitzgerald or Pontbriand in space and hoping they can maybe gain a few more yards. You're looking at maybe a couple opportunities per game for either guy who plays those tight end spots where the QB can check down to them when they are wide-open. You hit that once for a first down, and it's probably closed for the rest of the game because the LB/DB who is responsible for that flat was probably cheating downfield or looking into the backfield. There's no purpose in running plays for those guys regularly, they just don't have the speed or quickness to win 1 on 1 against coverage. If they are redesigning the offence, spend time figuring out how to get the ball to Denmark, Watson and Kohlert more effectively.

Tweaking Our Current Receivers
Pontbriand taking handoffs makes little sense to me. He's clearly uncomfortable carrying the ball, giving him the ball where he's heading into traffic just isn't a good idea. Doing it a couple times a season to break tendency, fine. It's like lighting a match at a gas pump. Maybe the gas station won't explode this time, but it isn't a great idea regardless. And I'm not running clearing routes to throw a 3 yard pass to Carl Fitzgerald. If we're running combo routes to get people open, it's Denmark, Moore, Grigsby, Kohlert, guys who can do something when they have the ball.

Riders @ Ti-Cats
Well, if he has the same performance has last game, quite possibly. I really wish Sunseri was pulled in the last game to try out the other QBs when we knew the game was over. Now we have no clue if the others are any better than Tino. You'd just be putting Doege in a position to fail throwing him into a game when he had limited reps in practice. You wouldn't get any kind of read on how good or bad the guy actually is. If they plan on potentially using him because of Sunseri's lack of production, they need to get him more reps in practice this week, but it's a catch-22 cause Sunseri obviously needs the work too if he's going to play. Welcome to not having a starting QB.

With Willy we challenge the Riders for fourth, without him we finish 5th
It's WPG vs B.C. for 4th.Such is life we finish 5th and out of the playoffs BUT we would be in 1st place in the East and THEN we'll see where those separate division lovers are. Sunseri vs Calgary and Edmonton x5? I have a feeling BC isn't going to have a tough time catching and passing the Riders. BC shouldn't have too much trouble winning at least 3 of their remaining games, probably should win 4. Saskatchewan would have to win 2-3 games to match them. We have to win 3 more games than the Riders in the final 3rd to pass them in the standings. Not very likely IMO. Actually it's 4 more games if we beat Ottawa this weekend. Bombers have to finish with 3 more wins than the Riders get over the rest of this season, that's what I'm saying, not 3 total.

I'd be very surprised if we ended up with 10 wins. I'd be happy with 3-3 in the last 6, with one of those wins hopefully being the game vs BC. I don't expect us to do better than 1-2 vs Edmonton and Calgary, more likely 0-3.

Winnipeg @ BC - final thoughts.
Agreed. The inability to find better import talent for the OL is vexing to say the least. League-wide IMO. There are a couple dominant guys, but even Olafioye looked like crap against us at RT on Friday. Could have been called for tons of holds, hands to the face etc, and he's supposed to be dominant. I thought he was Kirby Fabien at one point because he was having a lot of trouble.

Riders @ Ti-Cats
Playbook looks much more geared towards Collaros than what the TiCats started with in July.
