  1. Sure but it makes the league kind of a joke. Like the KHL compared to the NHL.
  2. How can you really apply it to a guy without a contract though? Player X has no contract, therefore is unable to serve suspension. If he is unable to serve his suspension, why should the CFL be expected to honor it? It's a catch 22 until the NFL says that the suspension clock is still ticking if you're not under contract, which it totally should. Simply honour the suspension. If you are suspended a full season by the NFL, when you sign with the CFL you have to sit out the same amount of time or number of games. Most likely the suspended players wouldn't even sign in the CFL in that case unless they actually wish to play in the CFL and aren't just looking to run down the clock on their NFL suspension.
  3. So the rule on suspended NFL players is pretty useless as it only applies to guys like Ricky Williams, maybe Josh Gordon this year, who are suspended and not released by their teams....interesting.
  4. If Mo Price and Nick Moore are getting 180K, Dressler is worth 200K easy.
  5. It is. If Stegall or Simon in their prime were available in 2014, they might get close to that, but Dressler is at least one tier below guys like that. It would be an overpayment by at least 50 thou.
  6. Jim Bell is a top-notch individual. IMO if he was ever given the full title of team president after Bauer, a lot of pain would have been saved.
  7. Hall is not lining up anywhere inside the outside shoulder of the offensive tackle and being effective. Pure finesse pass rusher. He's going to get manhandled inside off the snap. Hall is nowhere near the football player a guy like Chick is, he's a specialist.
  8. Could they have picked a worse location than Plessis Road? Couldn't afford route 90 or Portage Ave?
  9. I don't really understand O'Shea's comment. We have no import DL off our roster. Who do we release to make room for Hall or any other DE? Bryant, Kemp, maybe one of the three import OL we have who are currently not dressing? That said, I'm no fan of Hall, and don't really see him fitting here, Vega and Peach are the style Etch wants, all-around DE's who can drop into a zone almost as well as they can fill a gap. We do need depth on the DL though. We had to play Vega with a pretty significant injury for at least two games because we have no depth.
  10. Isn't he working as a real estate agent in Regina?
  11. The Riders aren't signing him for 250k.
  12. What exactly do you mean by 'stability'? I assume you are talking about the Riders? If he wants stability, he'd go with Ottawa because money = stability. No it doesn't. Not in football. Signing with the wrong team cut significantly shorten his career. He's had a good thing with the Riders, with the coaching staff and administration there currently too. Going to Ottawa would be a huge risk.
  13. Tough decision for Dressler. Ridiculous money vs good money and stability. I bet he signs with the Riders.
  14. 2005 Ottawa Renegades Attendance Capacity: 29,862 High: 20,833 Avg: 18,489 (9 out of 9 games) Variance over 2004 Avg: -4,559.0 Low: 16,303 Sellouts: 0 % of Capacity: 61.92% Variance from League Avg: -9,959 Closest the Renegades got to league average attendance was within 2000. Fan support is an issue in Ottawa, although their stadium now is ridiculously small. It will have to be soldout for that franchise to exist long term. Attendance for Ottawa football teams peaked in the mid-1970s, then fell off a cliff.
  15. But it`s a hell of a trick! Look at the havoc O`Dell Willis is causing for opposing offenses in Edmonton and he`s even more one dimensional than Hall. This team lives and dies by the pressure it puts on qbs, Hall would be one of the best in the league at putting pressure on QBs. Willis is a better pass rusher, he just has trouble finishing. Way more consistent pressure. Hall is a good finisher cause he's really long and QB's can't really do much when he gets to them, but he'll go invisible for long stretches.
  16. Not a big fan of Hall. Pretty inconsistent player. I wouldn't give him a big contract, but I'd have brought up a couple American DL for a look on our PR weeks ago, interior and edge.
  17. They should FedEx them to Southern Ontario and let the Argos wear them on Labour Day. Alternatively, we could have a bonfire.
  18. There honestly isn't a way to put a bunch of guys who haven't played together before and make them a very good team out of the gate, especially with the unique factor of the import ratio in the CFL. Short of completely screwing over the existing teams, you can't build a solid base of Canadians from 2 drafts and taking 2 NI's from each team. That's why all the talk about an expansion draft being fair or unfair is just plain stupid. The team is going to stink either way, by taking good players from existing teams, they just guaranteed that the whole league will stink too, which it has.
  19. At least they spent half a million dollars on a 39 year old QB. #committedtowinning
  20. Grigsby is leading the league in rushing, but the Bombers are 5th in the league in terms of rushing yards from RB's, even having played the most games. Tied for lowest yards per carry too. BC RB's- 801 yards 5.1 ypc Saskatchewan RB's- 795 yards 5.6 ypc Edmonton RB's- 667 yards 6.8 ypc Toronto RB's- 663 yards 5.7 ypc Winnipeg RB's- 590 yards 4.3 ypc Calgary RB's- 576 yards 5.4 ypc Montreal RB's- 489 yards 4.3 ypc Ottawa RB's- 378 yards 4.8 ypc Hamilton RB's- 188 yards 4.8 ypc
  21. You must have watched a different game. Willy was pretty clean vs Montreal, nearly all of the sacks were coverage sacks. You can literally count the number of broken tackles by Grigsby in half a season on one hand. That is ridiculous. Running backs are supposed to battle for yards through contact. We have a guy who is great if he is untouched. I would be a great CFL RB too if you could guarantee that I'd be untouched. Big runs are good, but we won't have a consistent offense until we have a back who can consistently gain 4-5-6-7 yards each time he touches the ball.

Montreal started playing way more aggressive and lining their front seven and sometimes safety right on the line in the 4th. Way easier to run block against that. When Grigsby hit the hole, he was in the 3rd level.
  23. Bombers had a guaranteed win night in 98 and 99. Lost in 98, won in 99 against Montreal. Deland McCullough last minute TD.

Pretty sure we lead the league in big plays, 30+ yards. Problem is inconsistency, and lack of running game other than the odd big play. 2nd and 8 vs 2nd and 4.
  25. The 2nd and 2 Cotton dive was a terrible play call. Most obvious play, Montreal was flooding the box. Should have been an option for Willy to change that play when he saw the defense.
