Blacks vs Cats and Rumpriders vs Boatmen
Grigsby dances way too much to even judge the offensive line in run blocking. Pick a gap, hit a gap, gain positive yards. All he has is that east-west test the contain type of run, so for every 15 yard run he busts he gets stopped for nothing or a loss several times, more now that the entire league has clued in. Always goes down with first contact, probably one of the most frustrating RB's the Bombers have employed in my lifetime.

Lawless: Trade Glenn January for Canadians
Based on his Jets columns, we should expect a "Sign January to an Extension" column from Lawless around Labour Day.
-
15 carries for 19 yards
If Grigsby were a President's Choice product he would be known as "Shades of Dorzon"
-
15 carries for 19 yards
First contact always brings him down. Only strength of his game is testing the D's contain, but now that everyone knows that he's going to have a hell of a time turning the corner. Not good in the pass game as a receiver or blocker. Next guy up.

Grigsby brings nothing to this team.

Lawless: Trade Glenn January for Canadians
What message is he conveying and for whom? A red herring that popped into his head on the john yesterday? If you shoot any moron with a column who has a bad idea, is it "shooting the messenger?" You just deconstructed the entire premise of the column while praising him. January has little trade value. That's why rambling for 900 words on this premise is pretty stupid.

Lawless: Trade Glenn January for Canadians
Sad to see the melodramatic style of coverage of the on-field product transferring over from the Jets to the Bombers. There is zero substance to this column. Lawless needs to spend less time around Steve Simmons.

CAL v EDM
Sewell's legs, knees specifically, won't last the season if teams attack him like Calgary did tonight.

Injury updates - July 20
Anthony Coombs is a starting receiver for the Argos and he's never played the position in his life until a month ago. Where is the depth? Who has the depth? Yes, the Bombers have no depth. Who has depth this year?

Best Gameplan to beat BC
Which IMP receivers are we going to dress? Our NI's are probably better than the available options, excluding the guys who don't even have a week of practice in yet.

I think thats true with the exception of NI reciever. If you have two non import recivers starting there should be better better depth to back them up. I don't see Taylor Renaud or Brett Carter as fouth on the depth chart if there are suposed to be 2 canadian starting. Look around the league. The 4th NI receiver on teams that start 2 Canadians there isn't impressive anywhere. Edmonton's 4th NI receiver is Akeem Foster Toronto has Natey Adjei BC has Kito Poblah Saskatchewan has Scott McHenry or Alex Anthony The only guys who are anything proven are proven to be not very good. The rest, just like Brett Carter, are big question marks. Adjei and Poblah are pretty good players for that spot. Foster has no ability to do anything but run a straight line down the field. McHenry isn't bad, but can't really do anything unless a defense forgets about him. I think thats true with the exception of NI reciever. If you have two non import recivers starting there should be better better depth to back them up. I don't see Taylor Renaud or Brett Carter as fouth on the depth chart if there are suposed to be 2 canadian starting. Let Kyle Walters know where he can find better. Teague Sherman shouldn't be playing defense either, but he is, and pretty well. Pontbriand and Fitzgerald would also come into play, if there were injuries I think we'd see even more tight end sets.

Marty Sears
Johnny Markett is the guy we need to look out for.

Bellefuile and the Offence
Linemen get it worse for sheer volume. Even in "non-contact" practices most of their drills involve contact.

Jon Cornish has setback
The hit was against the existing rules and punishments were given in game and after in the form of a fine. What it comes down to is respect. The only way the league could legislate that is by having a three strikes, you're out of the league rule in regards to intent to injure like this "hit," which was actually more of an assault. Even that may not deter an idiot like Hebert, just eventually run him out of the league.

Harris and Arceneaux. Stef Logan is pretty good too. I'm really only worried about Arceneaux if they isolate him on Bucknor and try a deep ball. But Glenn doesn't really have the arm to hit that wide-side throw, and if they run him into the middle against Bucknor he should have help inside, but I'm really worried about teams isolating Bucknor generally. Otherwise I'm not really concerned about any of our DB's against anybody, I think they are pretty solid, more worried about getting Harris down to the turf, Logan too.

I'm surprised the Bombers haven't added any DL of either nationality to the PR. Zero depth there. If Jake Thomas goes down, the whole structure of how they've been deploying the ratio is out the window. We're also on our last import DL. Two injuries at once on the DL and we're playing guys straight off the street.

Stop Harris. Make everyone else beat you.

Bombers add 2 to PR
Like McGuffie, hope his heart is into it, cause he's got a lot of potential in this league, like Dressler with some meat on his bones potential.

My guess is that Sherman returns to his role as a backup and Sears goes back to his previous position. Doesn't work without replacing the starting Canadian elsewhere. I wouldn't mind starting 3 NI receivers given the imports we have besides Moore and Denmark. Bryant looks like his tank is running on empty anyways, we have an extra NI roster spot with Renaud out that the other Renaud could take to backup.
-
Hajrullahu Vs. Renaud
Roster spot isn't a big deal, we don't really have anyone to take it anyways. I'd make two import changes that would mostly affect special teams: Markett for Unamba, which also gives us some benefit on D. Unamba is next to useless on D, taking dumb penalties on special teams. Markett is a great special teamer, good in the secondary, multiple positions. Suber for Unamba would be another possibility. I just don't get what Unamba is doing to stay on the roster. Yes he brings a lot of effort to special teams, but guys like Suber and Markett can do that and be good CFL players on D too, without taking 15 yard penalties. Unamba's probably coming off if Leggett is healthy. Woods for Cotton/Grigsby, whichever one isn't starting RB. Our return game has been disastrous since Woods was benched, and was above average with Woods. Anyone figure out what the mystery "injury" on Woods is yet?

Anyone miss the old Section S at the old stadium?
The problem with Section S was that it became a trendy place to be, and lost a lot of its character in the last few seasons of the old stadium. The beer snake crap was the beginning of the downturn to just pure idiocy and people there for reasons other than enjoying a football game, with or without lubrication.

Montreal @ BC
Remember Michael Bishop?

Rushing QB
Ball carrier on the turf who is not attempting to advance the ball = play terminated. By diving to the turf, Reilly indicated that he was no longer attempting to advance the ball, he didn't trip or dive to the turf to catch a pass and pop up without contact, he dove. The officials blew that call by not blowing their whistles with Reilly on the turf. Doesn't matter if it's a QB or anyone else. Same way they blew the call on the final kickoff in the Montreal game. Guaranteed if that Bomber who was bearing down on Reilly came at him full speed on the turf they'd apply the rules that way^. The only difference between a hook slide and a head first slide is that the ball is spotted at the point the hook slide started while the head first slide is spotted where the ball is when it terminates.

Tor / Ott & Cal / Ham Gameday Thread
"Rob Cote has seen the ball more tonight than he has all season!" Another good one. It's only game 3 for Calgary.

Tor / Ott & Cal / Ham Gameday Thread
I think he's angling for the role of Phil Collins in the next Trailer Park Boys movie. "Whadduya lookin at my gut fer?"
