  1. OMG, serious?? So you have 3 starting calibre NI's in Watson, JFG and Kohlert. Not game changing players, but starter quality NI receivers. And you have an OL that has been deficient for a number of years. Watman shores up a guard position for you immediately, and could be our ticket to no Morley by year's end. Etienne is signed to backup the 2 NI starting receivers; and at least has some upside to him. How is that terrible? Leaving aside the assumptions on Watman being better than what we currently have, why would Saskatchewan trade Watman? He's one injury from starting, and Picard is coming to the end of the line. Saskatachewan doesn't have the depth to make that trade. They have Watman, Clark and Vonk (PR) behind 4 NI starters on the OL.

Reilly is an average to good QB. Still not really making progress from there in year 2 so far, and they've played some really bad teams that he could have had a field day against. They would have lost to BC and Hamilton without herculean efforts from their D to turn the ball over and score points. He's been more consistently good this year, less hit or miss, but you can tell he's still making all his reads with the ball in his hand, and that's not a good thing, especially behind Rosie O'Donnell. Their offence doesn't scare me one bit. I guess you can roll with the if _______________ plays like he can, he'll dominate the CFL. More worried about their defense and it's unpredictable nature. I'm hoping this is the week that Cotton is freed, because Jones' scheme is pretty susceptible to the run.
  3. The Bombers have been using tight ends more than anyone but Ottawa, but one of Ottawa's TE's is basically a slotback, and they use them both regularly as receivers. The downside with bringing in tight ends in the pass game is that you are encouraging teams to send more guys at your QB, particularly when they are primarily blockers and not really a threat to catch a pass and do some damage (like if we used Knapp there), while giving your quarterback fewer guys in the route, making it easier for a defense to force the QB to hold the ball longer.
  4. I'm not sure if they'll give up Dyakowski plus I'm sure he will always goes back to Ham comes FA. I'll exchange Watson for either Wojt (or Rice plus a late rounder from them. ) But Watson + 3rd for Corey Watman from Riders, I'll do it. Landon Rice isn't a CFL quality OL. I wouldn't trade a conditional 7th round pick for him, let alone a legitimate game-changing non-import receiver. In his dreams Rice is not even as good as Paul Swiston. Everyone just seems to look down other rosters and see "National" next to a OL's name and assume that guy is better than what we've got or worth adding to what we've got. Reality is our line is middle of the pack, we're somewhere between Calgary-Saskatchewan-Toronto and BC-Hamilton-Edmonton on the scale of reasonably good to terrible. Teams aren't going to be trading starting quality, even guys who can reasonably fill in, NI OL this year with the NI talent pie having another slice carved out of it. There are no surplus players. Look at Hamilton's OL in their first two games without Dyakowski? Why on earth would they deal him or Wojt? Why on earth would we trade anything for a guy like Rice? They ran a quick game. A lot of it against the zone blitz depends on receivers breaking tackles or making guys miss, sometimes they did and it was a first down, sometimes they didn't and it was a 3 yard gain. Sometimes in that zone blitz they sit in the flats and short zones behind the blitz and wait for those throws. I thought Willy did a good job of not making assumptions. Sometimes that led to incompletions and 2 and outs, but no turnovers from him, and really only a couple balls that the Als had a chance at.

He's a WR. He's a WR that was converted to CB Probably here as a return specialist though... Something must be up with Woods. Didn't see anything that mentions him playing DB in college or with the Bengals. 4.33 40 at his pro day in 2012, not a great 3 cone time, 6.96. Sounds like lots of straight ahead speed, not as much agility.
  6. Yes, very inconsistent in the space of what, 3 plays? Lumbala gave himself up. I'm sure if a Bomber came in there and knocked him to the turf it would have been a penalty, yet he's able to get up from purposefully taking a knee and gain yards. Should have been a dead ball.

Howard wasn't bad outside of the penalties, only watched the game live though. Neufeld was fairly poor, giving up his inside gap a lot vs Montreal's stunts. I suspect Edmonton will use stunts and blitzes to try to isolate Neufeld with Sewell, and capitalizing on a preoccupation with Sewell to open up inside gaps for blitzes and Willis looping through on stunts. Neufeld needs to have a good game because Jones isn't just going to send the guys you expect through the gaps they're lined up in and maybe throw a LB or HB on a blitz once and awhile, it will be psychological warfare. I'll be pretty disappointed if Aaron Woods isn't back on the roster. How many turnovers will it take?
  8. Wild and Kuale have been on the field together whenever they've used a 30 front, and Kuale has lined up all over the place.
  9. Richmond neighborhood south of the stadium has free street parking too within 2 KM's of the stadium.
  10. The game is a lot more difficult when you aren't getting 8 yards on first down from Kory Sheets. Way more pressure on Durant, and like Reilly, he doesn't do much pre-snap, he needs time to read a defense.
  11. The defense kept a lot of points off the board and put 13 up themselves. Willy led the miraculous drive to win, but Montreal wins easy if the Bombers give up a TD on one of the short fields afforded the Als by Washington's misadventures. Defense saved the day.
  12. Has Kromah even played since his injury?
  13. Emry's going to start fights with wide receivers. So tough. Everyone better be scared!
  14. Funny with all the penalties they don't flag a late hit on a QB giving himself up on a feet first slide. So inconsistent. We should look at running our short yardage the way Calgary does with Tate running option, since Marve can't sneak.
  15. Stats pretty even but one team is scoring TD's, the other field goals.
  16. And they have a hard time already attracting anyone to do it, I'm sure a million dollar fine would help recruiting.
  17. K. For some reason it's not showing on the CFL.ca stats. Perfect Ricky Ray half. 15/19, 3 FG's on the board. BUT HE COMPLETED 80% OF HIS PASSES!
  18. Has Coombs even touched the ball?
  19. Any source on what those futures are, or just speculation^? Generally that just means that it will be decided at a later date by the teams, not necessarily based on what the player does. They usually have some parameters, like by November 30th you can pick one of ten players we list from our neg list, something like that.
  20. Million dollar fine Thought you were serious till that part.
  21. That's the future considerations in the trade. Looks kind of rusty, but he hasn't played in awhile.
  22. It rained that day or the night before didn't it? I remember the turf being damp, especially around the cutouts for the bases.
  23. Because I think Dunn is a bad player who looks better because Randle is on his side of the field. Essentially, I don't think he should even be on the team... Ok. Why? Because Randle covers all 3 or 4 guys in the route on that side of the field. He comes in to fill 3 gaps when they run the ball. Really we should just play with 10 on D.
  24. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/07/12/bombers-get-abraham-kromah Must read. Look at the picture. WTF?
  25. Exactly. I mean it wasn't as though our defence didn't play a fairly sound game. They had pressure and they had sacks, and you sure as hell couldn't take away anything from the second most important series of the game…where they stopped Montreal..twice, and forced a FG right after Washington's second fumble. That still gave us a chance, and it seemed Willy just willed his way down the field to win us the game. The defense had to both score and hold after Washington's fumbles for that game to even be in question in the 4th quarter. Huge effort from them. If clutch exists, they were clutch last night. As was the offense on the final drive after basically a half of ineffective play.
