I know Parker is small, but safeties are trending smaller now. He’s only giving up an inch and five pounds to a guy like Metchie who plays bigger than he is, just like Parker. Sure tackling, center fielder abilities … it’s not like teams fear Alexander when they come across the middle anyways, when’s the last time you saw him lay out a guy that way?

We keep everything in front of us by design, I’d rather see us use more of a center fielder there. Personally.

My favorite secondary is Houston/Nichols/Parker/Holm/Rose with Alexander at SAM

I’ll definitely take it, it’s going to happen with the cover corners who don’t see a lot of targets. It was the same thing with Alford. Often gets forgotten that the other team gets paid to play too. Just as much as Houston can jump a route successfully, the other team can bait him successfully. Overall, I’d take Houston as easily one of the top 2-3 corners in the CFL. Seems like guys like BVD prefer a player like Abu who gets targeted 10 times a game for 6 first downs, because he limits gains to just past the first down marker as a sure tackler. That’s not to rag on ADS either, but there’s an obvious reason why teams are picking on him - it’s better than throwing it to the other side of the field.

It’s not my fault you don’t know what you’re watching. I thought that interception was his second worst play of the game. Should’ve knocked it down, although at that point in the game it was absolutely irrelevant. Did he get burned on that double move? Absolutely. Great job by McAdoo to set that one up. I also think Houston kind of slipped, which isn’t an excuse but hey whatever, it happens. I’ll stand by my opinion on Houston. I’ll take a combination of him and Nichols that effectively takes the strong majority of the targets away from one side of the field and forces the offense to do all kinds of stuff to free up their preferred receivers. I’m not going to rag on a guy because he gets beat on a double move every now and then. Get back to me when teams stop actively scheming to avoid throwing the ball in his direction as much as they can.

I wasn’t a big Ricky Walker fan but he’s been really good lately. Didn’t like that call on Cole … he didn’t even hit Cornelius, he ran into him and made a clear effort to pull up. Sell job.

Yeah lol I think it’s terrible use of a roster spot but credit where credit is due, he’s been playing his unappreciated role pretty well

I feel so bad for Jackson. He worked his ass off that drive and then the one replay they show where he’s visible, he gets blown up, trails behind Brady, whiffs on another block and then ends the play on his ass. 😂

Seems to be but the announcers are too busy talking about guitar chords and rules they have no clue about

Good thing we have Kramdi to replace Darby. Equally terrible so far. Play calling on both sides of the ball has been atrocious. OL, Stanley Bryant included, has been terrible. again.

All there really is to say about the roster management is this: if you took the names out of the equation and just explained the decisions (“dressing an American fullback”, “having no backup import edge rusher”, “not using the new DA rule out of stubbornness”, etc), tell people Chris Jones is the one doing it and all they would be talking about is how stupid he is

I mean, obviously we can’t draw an exact line between roster decisions and losses but Jesse Briggs seeing his way onto the field and blowing tackle after tackle on the final drive in regulation for Ottawa last week is a fairly safe line to draw. Does having a better option in the lineup win us that game? Obviously impossible to say but it likely would’ve given us a better chance to win.

Maybe, but other teams have nowhere near the same issue so why would our prospects be declining and other prospects wouldn’t be? The use of our practice roster has been problematic for two years now. Who’s the last American player to start on the PR for us and earn his way into the lineup?

I remember when people called me dumb for saying the Argos would be a better team than us this year. I remember when people also called me dumb because I said O’Shea’s roster management was going to cost us games this year. Maybe people should stop calling opinions dumb just because they don’t like hearing them.

I keep asking you this but I’ll ask again. What magical behind the scenes stuff do you think is going on that prevents us from signing competent players to the practice roster?

That’s totally fine, but if that’s the case … it really just goes back to what Booch and I said all off-season. Why would you not have competition in camp? We’re starting Les Maruo and Rehda Kramdi this week and the only reason is because longevity on the roster is all that matters to O’Shea. Absolutely no competition at either spot. And this is what we’re left with.

You know who else can play DE? An actual DE

I hate to say it, because it seems like such a ridiculous idea and I know it’s never gonna happen anyways but … if O’Shea is going to just blatantly handcuff our roster with his stubbornness and overall mismanagement, are we going to let him just because he won two Grey Cups? Or is Miller actually going to step in and do something? At what point do you tell O’Shea get your **** together or thank you for your services but they are no longer needed? That roster is literally a joke. And we’ve done it to ourselves.
