  1. Didn't you hear that LT now stands for Legacy Tackle?
  2. Yeah, absolutely agree. In case it wasn't clear to anyone, I wasn't suggesting we can them. I was just saying that IF we were to do it, I'd see no reason for it not to be both. That call is far away from being made at this point in the season though.
  3. I'd toss them both out just for the stand alone reason of this bullshit with the refusal to use an American as a Canadian even though we're allowed to. It's borderline negligent and I know that's not going to sit well with some people but there's a reason we are the only one of nine teams that doesn't use it.
  4. I do actually agree that if one goes, the other should go too. Despite how disjointed it looks in it's execution, the line we've been fed for years is that it's one unit working in unison and every decision they make is made as a team. I don't think Walters deserves to keep his job if O'Shea is let go, if for nothing else than because he's spent too much time allowing what could be his subordinate to have an equal say when it hasn't been or shouldn't be needed.
  5. I don't think it gives hope to Canadian teams at all, especially in the case of the Jets. Carolina has advantages that Canadian teams don't have, despite being a small market US team. Yeah, Carolina isn't your first choice if you're an American but they're a well-run franchise with an incredible owner. That goes a long way. A lot of players don't want to play in Canada - full stop, period. Even more players don't want to play in Winnipeg and quite honestly, I think it's time that the franchise took a step back and recognized that it's become an issue of not wanting to play for Chipman + Chevy just as much as it is not wanting to play in the city. Our ownership and front office is awful and I don't want to hear the excuses of "well, it's the toughest job in the NHL." Great, invest in things that will make it easier. We are a draft and develop team who sucks at drafting and sucks even worse at developing. The Jets have done an absolutely pitiful job of recognizing what players on the way up value, which leaves no doubt as to why we easily lead the league in "players asking for a trade" over the past 10 years. Is no one on the Jets waking up to WHY that is happening? I understand the challenges our franchise faces with attracting players but we make it SO much worse on ourselves. We beat the creativity out of almost every young prospect, we make them earn their way through the ranks of a system that forces them to get in line with playing OUR style of hockey while forcing their style out of them, we make them toil in the AHL ranks far too long and then give them inconsistent opportunities with the NHL club alongside low skill players that don't compliment them whatsoever. It's not the "small big city" mentality where we think we hear all the secrets that other teams don't because everyone knows everyone in Winnipeg. It's the fact that a lot of our young players are incredibly disgruntled and honestly, I think having our AHL team in Winnipeg as well is a huge detriment - imagine being a 20 year old first round draft pick, you are weighing your options on how you'd like your career path to play out and you are stuck in Winnipeg EVERY day, getting third line grinder minutes on the Moose thinking to yourself "is this how I want to spend the next 10+ years of my career?" The Jets need to take a long hard look at the way that they do business and stop trying to convince themselves that the loyalty of Morrissey, Scheifele, Lowry, etc can be instilled in every single player. Young players want to PLAY these days, they want opportunities to control their career and we don't have to like it but we have to respect it. Winnipeg itself is a big hurdle to these players but the front office and the way we treat our young players is the biggest hurdle of all at this point.
  6. This is Jason Hogan erasure and I will not stand for it
  7. Would HE notice? Is it too revealing to confirm that it was G. Billan? Ahhh that’s probably giving too much away. Garrett B!
  8. lol this is such an embarrassing thing to write down and click the send button on. If Rich wants to take away my "administrator" tag so that I'm allowed to talk the exact same way you talk to people, he's more than welcome to do so. The way you insult Booch is so much worse. The way you start almost 50% of the posts you make with some form of "I don't know if people just don't get it or what" is your (bad) attempt at mocking people and I don't see you having a problem with that. As an aside - I've said on more than one occasion recently, I'm not a moderator here. I don't even think I know how to get into the Mod Panel or whatever it's called anymore. I have this tag because I helped (not really) Rich start this place up way back when. "cyber knock him out" though ... wow Such a ridiculous thing to say from probably the most self-unaware person we have in our community. Despite what Al thinks, I don't have a problem with him. If he wants to be loud, boisterous and abrasive and then play the victim when he gets it back, that's up to him. We've all known eachother for going on 15-20 years now. I'd say we're all very comfortable talking with eachother like we would if we were sitting on the couch watching the game together. It's probably the main reason this place still exists in spite of Reddit, etc. Nobody needs to threatening other people.
  9. There’s no feud brother, it’s a message board. You should press like on everything I write, my belief system would not allow me to post something that wasn’t worth liking.
  10. All of this is very wrong for all of the reasons already outlined in the last dozen posts. Brady, Demski, Nield, Neufeld, Wallace, Bryant If we were using our ratio to its full extent, this easily accomplishes what we want it to without us being pigeon holed into a Canadian fullback, tight end, receiver, whatever for that last spot.
  11. This is a wild sentence to type out when your belief system made you forget about Tim White and Tommy Nield.
  12. Look at it from a different perspective - we literally handed this guy a roster spot. That spot doesn’t need to be a Canadian at all - the minute we start using the roster rules appropriately, we could change absolutely nothing about our current roster except make Daniels an American and finally call Stanley Bryant a Canadian like we are allowed to. Daniels doesn’t need to be interchangeable with those guys at all, he is currently required to by nature of us ignoring the roster rules because O’Shea doesn’t “believe in them”.
  13. … I feel like you stick to an opinion and you are literally just unable to process a different viewpoint. He’s not comparing Cobb to Lawler. He’s saying he’s our fifth option, other guys had huge games. Not every receiver is going to get 100 yards a game. Our offense is clicking and you’re bitching and whining that we didn’t invest into THREE free agent receiver big ticket items (and also somehow forgetting that you pretended we didn’t sign ANY)
  14. The Gavin Cobb obsession is now bordering on delusion. We signed Tim White and Tommy Nield, what on earth are you on about
  15. My point is that he’s not a ratio advantage when we start more than we need to to begin with.
  16. The scouting thing is part accurate and part such a straw man. It has nothing to do with “who have we cut that had gone on to be good elsewhere” because if you wanna play that silly game, include negotiation lists too. Until we evaluate guys in camp better and change our approach, we still really have no idea what side of the coin it is. I do think Rigmaiden was a huge loss for us but I also think it’s unfair to place all of the blame on scouting when we bring these guys to camp and then sometimes they don’t even see an opportunity to touch the field. The whole process is a bit flawed and honestly, I think the biggest disconnect is that our coaching staff and front office don’t really even seem aligned on what they value or what they’re looking for. as an example … what does the process for deciding to draft a guy like Daniels look like? Was that a scouting department preference? Was it an ask for that kind of player by Condell? Something in between? At what point? Because there’s absolutely no reason we couldn’t have found an American to fill the exact same role, probably with a better pedigree and skill set and Daniels offers us no advantage ratio wise, but did we even look? Stevie Rocker came to camp for free lunches for a month, you’re telling me it wouldn’t have been better to see if we could find a big American fullback/tight end type instead?
  17. The D was bowling shoe ugly last night and I'm with a lot of the other people saying Younger has just gotten way too cute. It's like he decided at some point that the chess match part of football is the only part - at some point, you have to just let these guys go out and play ball rather than trying so hard to confuse the other team that you confuse yourself. One thing I did notice is that Jenkins (so far) appears to be yet another guy in the long line of "seniority" awards. Reese and Dixon (in limited action) have both looked more noticeable. We really need some impact playmaking linebackers, the ones we have are just there existing, but they don't really bring a whole lot to the table and let's be honest, if their veteran leadership and awareness is leaving them just as confused as every other player on the field then at least get some young hungry guy who is gonna rip a guy's head off instead of whiffing on every tackle (looking at you Kyrie Wilson) Final comment on the D - either our man coverage cushion is by design absolutely WAY too soft, Deatrick Nichols is 100% cooked or maybe both. As for the offense, no complaints whatsoever. Collaros looking like he turned the clock back a few years. Nield looks like a gamer and I'll go ahead and say he's probably our number 1 Canadian receiver at this point ... I'm fine with those four guys and Cobb if that's how they can all play. Who cares about a productive fifth receiver? Hamilton's fifth receiver yesterday was Tyler Ternowski. Not the most important spot. I'm impressed by Condell so far.
  18. Absolutely embarrassing showing by the D. Our secondary can’t stop a thing.
  19. To me, this reads as a pretty good indication that we're going to start playing our lineup to match the opponent this season ... which is something we used to do a lot more of but kind of got away from. I don't think you're going to see Bouliane or Kelly getting any kind of significant reps on defense unless there's an injury of some kind but I do think you're going to see a few interesting sets that might find one of them on the field here and there. Hamilton's OL doesn't look very strong on paper and I would imagine we're going to see a lot of pressure on Bo. God, reading Hamilton's depth chart their whole team kinda sucks. Yikes.
  20. 6 game really does mean nothing at this point though, at least
  21. I'll need more than one game before I start imagining our DL is as elite as Calgary's. They were disruptive (not productive) against us even without Hutchings or Orimolade. That's a scary DL they have in Calgary for sure.
  22. Jake Kelly taking reps with the starting D, are. you. kidding. me?
  23. Stoked we won for sure but the whining about coaching decisions is not going away. If O’Shea won’t learn, neither will I! Between the nationalized American, our refusal to ever go for two and the coin toss choices, I’m gonna continue to whine BUT Team as a whole looked better than expected. Curious to hear about Woodbey but that looked significant … sucks for him as a human and truly hope it’s nothing serious but the silver lining for fans is this could be the break Jaylen Smith needs to have his coming out party. Would be excited to see what he can do if he’s called upon.
  24. Credit to Ceresna, White, Nield for being factors in a big win Willie looking like he can be useful again as a rotation piece who doesn’t have to play 96% of the defensive snaps is huge Brady being Brady was awesome Vaval looking like a cagey vet Cons … our pass coverage aside from Holm and at times, Major … it was rough. Kramdi sucks at safety, Woodbey was lost all night, Nichols looking old, Moxey looking slightly less old. Hope that unit shores things up. Tony Jones and Kyrie absolutely useless in anything other than the most obvious rushing downs was a downer
