I think the negativity is due to 2 main things 1.our record 2. Our frustration with bomber mgmt to not address obvious issues. ie allowing vets to go past expiration date with seemingly no backup plan in place, or standing pat with an offence that couldnt score more than 3 field goals in their last game
  2. You're right, watching BA when was the last time he laid a big hit on a receiver going across the middle. He used to own that turf. Now its mostly arm tackles from the side The tackles Wilson is making used to be Bighill's M O .
  3. With Lucky we don't know if hes in game shape or Has he lost a step, theres a reason he hasnt signed until now When asked about Lucky when he was signed, O'Sheas response was we'll see once he gets here.
  4. I see him developing as a BC's Cottoy type of player, key role , sometimes a prime target.
  5. Oline has always been key to our offensive success, giving players experience is key to succession Its one position that is less about athleticism and more about technique. Id look moving smeckle to pr first. Especially with rotation of adams, woods, thomas in place
  6. Jones might only be in cause Cole is ill. Hope he gets reps as mlb. Calgary punished us thru the middle
  7. speed is good, but we are already last in the league against the run, Jones in Edmonton was a tackling beast. Perhaps a combo of Ayers/Jones and wilson would be best.
  8. For Biggie. Ayers isnt big enough we could try Tony Jones, and we haven't got much in the way of current replacements for Thomas, The other issue is that we don't give much in the way of reps to see what we have that is an improvement. ie could Griffen plqy safety? When parker returns could we move Ford to safety (with his speed could be another DeQuoy) I would suggest we spell off |Biggie with Jones, (replace Cole perhaps who for whatever reason isn't getting many reps anyway) especially on such a hot day as Friday, Why Ayers doesn't get more reps as well is a mystery. I also agree that the not having adequate replacements on the dline is a big fail. By the 4th qtr our starters were completely exhausted cause we couldn't afford to use Smeckle or, Lucky Ogbevoen. Willie is also getting to many reps to be effective consistently
  9. Have we replaced any starting player with another who is an upgrade over the one we lost ? Bonds for Parker is the closest. ie Walker Bailey Hardwick Grant Grey Jeffcoat Houston
  10. granted, that Thomas lacks the mobility to drive pressures, however i feel the bigger issue is that who do we have that is better? Woods hasn't provided pressures, Adams shows some promise but overall our interior quality is lacking when it comes to quarterback pressures Obviously at the beginning of the year Lawton was pencilled in to be the starter based on his salary, but that ended with injury
  11. nevef let the facts or stats get in the way of your opinion!
  12. O'Shea gets blamed for the roster decisions and the buck should stop there (no pun intended) but how much say does younger and buck have in who we play, and keep on the roster? Buck and Younger/Hall are veteran coaches and O'Shea has never been accused of running a dictatorship so what gives?
  13. Testiment to how poor our scouting is this year that we don:t have a import true de available other than jefferson. Also to how stubborn O'Shea is ,Lucky should be in,,Johnson has shown nothing , and wilson for all the opportunity is awful
  14. Kyrie is underated and very good, the issue is with Bighill lacking the range, he is being spread thin We should have made a play for titus wall, as an upgrade to Kramdl who is serviceable but not elite
  15. I agree Kramdl doesnt have the speed for coverage situations, when he has to cover a slotback he is at a disadvantage. He does have a lot of good instincts and is great in a number of defensive schemes, but I would like to see Griffin utilized a lot more or Ayers. Im not sure what is happening with Cole but they don't seem to have much faith in him at times. Kramdl is another example of this teams reluctance to not make changes to vets roles. (much like Alexander and Thomas)
  16. Don't understand the negativity on the defense, linebackers stopped the run. Defensive backs played one of the best games i've seen This loss was totally on the offense. That they could only manage 6 points in the first half with Collaros is terrible. Zac refuses to utilize the rookies and continually tried to force balls to Demski. Buck also needs to incorporate plays that take advantage of what skills the recievers do have. Has he ever heard of throwing a screen pass, or if they are stopping olivera against the run. find other ways to get him the ball
  17. jGet her done!
  18. most of the posts point to vets that have been cut in the off season, Have we cut a vet in season or even at the end of training camp? Its either a testament to poor scouting or stubbornness
  19. I can't remember when we last cut a vet that was under contract, if we do move anyone its cause we cant afford the cap hit. Every other team takes stock and decides to move on ie Calgary Titus Wall, BC Sayles, Edmonton Bailey Jones, Sask FIne. Lenius, etc. We seem to be striving to remain status quo, which only works for a short time. ( not to mention the cost of retaining vets keeps going up). I know O'Shea has a lot of loyalty to his vet players, but a good managed team has to strive for improvement.
  20. Maybe so,but sometimes it takes an aged vet longer to get into game shape/mentality.
  21. I also think how we played was a reflection of our preparation vs talent. The decision to not play vets in preseason left them rusty and not able to execute as needed. Of all the qbs Zac had the most issues which I don't see continuing. The Ottawa game will be a better indicator.
  22. another example of our poor scouting this year. We had 100 players in camp, and only Adams and Woods have made any kind of good impression as rookies. We don't have a true de to back up Haba/Jefferson, our returners look much the same as when Grant went down ly and we tried to repurpose someone else (i.e. Parker and Mcghee) Is Feltmate being brought in because Chris-Ike isn't showing enough?
  23. Lol.. elk player touches the center early... a minute later the center falls over!
  24. watching Leake and Alford... am jealous and more annoyed in our efforts to get a returner
  25. between mbt and harris feel like I'm watching clones. Sask O line does look better though even if its early
