Mci needs more time to develop as a ball carrier imo. We will see where he is at in pre season though soon.

pre check down nichols maybe. Certainly needs to be more like him, but I don't think he has that in him. We will see though.

Its the first solid season BLM has had since 2019 and good season since 2018. And yeah, chucking up a bunch of yards in losses isn't a goal. Bos' injury string also starts in 2019, when he was 28 turning 29. Not 36 turning 37. No chance does zach have the amount of time to get healthy that bo took. He basically needs to be the guy he was in 21, this year. He at least has to be much closer to that, than last year or the year before or he isn't likely to finish the year.

I’m soo excited at the thought of Logan and Brady in the back field together. That’s gonna be such a nightmare. Yeah I know he’s given some control up. How much and where? I couldn’t even guess. He’s the kind of guy you’d love to learn from but hate to work for imo.

It can be hard to differentiate which the cause is; if you don't know the scheme fairly well, it's almost impossible. Unless the failure point is something like drops. At that point in the game, though, if the players aren't able to execute, it's a failure of prep or implementation. It's not often that either type of failure is fixed mid-game, though. When you see repeated, systemic failures, change is the answer. But the hard fact sometimes is you don't have a winning combination. We've all lived through that plenty in the past dark ages. We saw games where any changes or installations would make no difference. On a good team, you should have a few pivots built in. On d, Hall is one of the better coaches at having and triggering those. And it's not like he suddenly fundamentally changed his style/system. He didn't switch to complicated zone blitz schemes, or heavy sets etc. He changed just enough with in his system to cover gaps. On offence, I think Jason maas has done the best job of in week installs that give his team options to counter being countered. DD used to be good at adjusting in game, but every thing in Calgary is cracked now. Idk who I'd say is the best pure adjuster on offence today.

https://3downnation.com/2025/04/11/canadian-db-tyrell-ford-turned-down-multiple-nfl-offers-to-stay-in-cfl-sign-with-edmonton-elks/ But why? I mean, really... Yup, you got it. Spreading the formations blockers, having off-tackle gaps (like we see more down south now), and forcing the run fits to cover a much wider area is the key. It also opens up massive cutback lanes. We gave up on the multiplicity of backfield threats last year, which gutted our ability to run out of the heavy set. With just 1 back to threat, you only need your edge seal to be fast or wide enough to take it away. If you widen that point 5 yards, then you either need to line up on that point, creating another inside gap that's open, or need to be fast enough and be able to get outside of the blocking scheme before the rb has an angle. That play call was atrocious, too. Just battering ram streveler and the shallowest routes from the Nichols era.

I really don’t think CFL defences are ready for a team to go 22 spread set heavy run. I want soo much to see some 6’4 250+ te using the waggle to block at the second level. Teams are reasonably prepared for our 7ol + fb tight bunch sets because the gaps are close and it narrows the field. In order to run higher volume in general we need to diversify our run attack. The amount of izr/tite zone we’ve run with out balance is insane. Especially last year with out using a secondary back field threat.

Bombers should draft all of rourke, tachinsky, Desjardins, elgersma, Sénécal, hall and rooker. That way we can corner the market on Canadian qb prospects and bend the league to our will. Or atleast make the national media and suitor say good things about us and our players.

Soo impressive. Saw the corporate partnerships almost equaled the gate revenue. Which is crazy. Wade has the team in the best place fiscally, and in terms of infrastructure that it’s ever been. Especially when you consider where most teams stand in that sense. When it comes to bomber builder/front office types, he’s the goat.

Qft. It’s not the type of ol draft that people want, like last year, it is the type the league and teams need though. A few teams are gonna get Canadian ol that play some this year and anchor lines for years to come. Right? I like a couple guys but no one 4th round high. Not for any team. Maybe once in the cancelled season? And that was an aberration where we kept trying to get more teams guys. and then a rb and a wr lol. We can take guy later in the draft at db or rb if we want that. And later for a qb, where we don’t really have a spot imo for another qb project. We could swing in the upper middle picks for a wr, but we also might do that late in the draft. Of all those positions, wr is where I’d take a guy higher. But not at the cost of a target linemen. I think we look at two linemen in the top 4/5 rounds.

You think his ceiling is 50% and mbt/fajardo is what you think is the answer? That’s wild lol. I don’t think zachs body will hold up that long. I think Zach will play better than his start last year, but I don’t think he finishes the year as the starting qb. Injuries stack up quickly and diminish zachs mental state quickly. We’ve already seen the depths of that. And I don’t think he will be 100% again in his career. Slippery slope out the door for a guy like him. The edge between being very good and not being able to compete is slim.

I think both rourke and zach will perform better than last years struggles. How much will be personal and how much will be coaching is gonna be a big deal for both teams futures.

Yeah, I saw that. Surprising but also a sign they are accepting mediocrity for now. I think highly of bobby dyce as a CFL football mind and leader. I haven't seen a glimmer in a long while of him translating any of that into being a good HC. And it's kind of late. I feel like he's best off as a positional/depth coach who can do a bunch behind the scenes. Good guy to help a younger Co or future co develop, QC for a co, help the scout team etc.

You’re right, it isn’t. Unfortunately, football and pro sports aren’t fair. And qb is one of the least fair positions in all of sports. Comparison is also hard, but in this case I think it’s true.

Vets other teams don’t much want, dyce has been around as a position coach. Hes been awful as a hc, which is a real disappointment. He’s a great guy. Not at all similar years. Brown didn’t have one awful game like Zach did for the first half of the season plus. Brown deserved to win his play off game too. Brown was exceptional far more times as well. ottawas offence is brown. It doesn’t even run through him, it’s entirely dependent on him dominating. If they traded places Zach wouldn’t have finished the year and his career would likely be over. With brown, we win a couple more games easy. Very good chance we win the gc with brown.

With calvillo in comparison, the difference is healthy. I’m not sure Zach is remotely capable of either continuing his norm or revamping due to physical limitations. Harris didn’t actually change, he just got out of the red hot dumpster fire. Even when he went edm to mtl from getting destroyed by us to besting us he wasn’t different or doing things different. Now blm was sitting in some serious injury stuff for a few years. Then he also played on a team where he got to pad stats with out the need to play to win the game last year. But that is a better comparison. But, he needed to bounce around and recover. Zach has no such luxury with time. Dru was carrying a pretty underwhelming offensive squad with a bad system/roster. Dru lead his offence and team last year. Blm, padded stats on a team with out a chance, zach was carried almost the entire year. You have to go off play on the field as every ones stats are pretty similar but they all got there a different way.

To an extent, it’s a good thing. The idiocy of denying water, hard ass two a days ending with wind sprints till you puke then forced ice bathes was awful. That said the pendulum has swung too far imo. I’d rather see an extra week, with 3 days 1 apart where teams do a full pads two day practice of about 3 hours each including one scrimmage. No stupid drills, but reasonable approximation of football game play. Stick the extra week before/in the middle of the pre season depending on the year for teams.
