December 1, 20159 yr Author comment_172059 Does anybody care why? Big time .... it's a huge clue about what we really have for management
December 1, 20159 yr comment_172060 I'd phone Henoc directly and find out 1st hand...but I'd pronounce his name Muamba, so he wouldn't get offended. If I had to guess, I'd say it was the family in the East thing and the bidding thing.
December 1, 20159 yr comment_172065 If I told you he was from Montreal, would you still ask that question? And if I told you the previous question was rhetorical, would you still answer that question?
December 2, 20159 yr comment_172074 Does anybody care why? Big time .... it's a huge clue about what we really have for management He's from Quebec, I think. These guys from Quebec or Saskatchewan sign their first contract & then the best players seem to bail back to their home province or in the case of the Eastern players, leave the West Division when that first contract is over. Henoc tried the NFL & it didn't work out but I don't think even though he said nice things about the team he was ever coming back. Really, who cares? Thanks for the memories. Whatever. Done. Sayonara. Watch out for the door slamming behind you, Henoc. Buh bye. Talk to ya later.
December 2, 20159 yr Author comment_172086 Well we have all guesses .... I thought by now someone would know whether we were willing to break the bank for him

December 2, 20159 yr comment_172097 Despite what a few say with wild and bass and even Hurl... lb isn't really a big issue here. The DL and OL are
December 2, 20159 yr comment_172100 We are equally excited about helping Henoc build his post-football career in the community and we are looking forward to him wanting to work in the Together at School with the Alouettes program with his new teammates. http://en.montrealalouettes.com/page/together-at-school Could have played a part in it.

Does it not reflect just as poorly on the other seven GM's who lost out on the Muamba sweepstakes? Not really, no ... Its a self respect organizational pride thing ..... first overall pick ... leader ... all that jazz Ottawa had done their free agent stuff .... & others were already set ....Regina & others could have used an upgrade BUT there was no special holy grail like Henoc was to the Blue
December 2, 20159 yr comment_172102 You can't judge the style of management, wins or failures based on signing Muamba. He played every CFL team to get the most $$$ he could.
December 2, 20159 yr comment_172130 Would have been nice to get him. Having two star Canadians would be a good step toward building a legit contender.

December 2, 20159 yr comment_172134 Despite the nice guy reputation he built while he was here, I think his actions show pretty clearly that he is a merc. He went for the money.
December 2, 20159 yr comment_172140 I don't begrudge any athlete going for the money. Their careers are incredibly short and will be cut without the remorse the moment their skills deteriorate.

Then there's Johnny Football in Cleveland. How can that guy even look his teammates in the eye? He got demoted, poor boy. Should've suspended him. Players like that keep getting chances others don't but they're morons.

Their careers are incredibly short and will be cut without the remorse the moment their skills deteriorate. If it truly was just money, if we just got outbid, then my estimate of Bombers management goes down. Its the will to win, to do what it takes. Its the few Canadian stars that teams are built around. The role players don't make a huge difference. Good scouting will bring US all star surprises that can keep the payroll in check. It's all about where you choose to spend the $$$$ The Patriots are built around Brady. They draft for defense and pick up what they can for offense. Again they build around a few key players. Is it possible Ottawa's Desjardins knows what he is doing. He started with Burris and went after crucial Canadians. He is filling in with decent aging veterans, Does Walers have the judgment and the will?
December 2, 20159 yr comment_172167 Let's all recall that Muamba took a long time to get signed when he was drafted and that the Bombers offered him a crap ton of money to extend his deal before he tried the NFL. Guy has always been motivated by money. Why didn't he sign here? Well 9 teams wanted to sign him and only 1 could, he opted to go with the deal Montreal offered for whatever reason. I won't shed too many tears though. We aren't exactly lacking at the linebacker position and guys like Muamba who are so motivated by money aren't the ones you build around anyway. He's a great player without a doubt but there are plenty of great players out there, we just need to find some more of them. Westerman is a pretty good star Canadian, get another guy like that from somewhere.
December 2, 20159 yr comment_172168 More money plus probably promising him a starter position from the start, maybe Cauchy soured him on coming back...
December 2, 20159 yr comment_172185 My take is that he was Burris-like in his CFL tour trying to wring an extra dollar out of the place he wanted to go from the start. And people say home cooking doesn't matter... Sign more Bisons dammit!
