Mr. Perfect reacted to Goalie in 3 stars and hh 2001 revengeEli has been here 5 6 seasons. I think he is what he is at this point. Lots of us didn’t think Eli would be starting. In reality they decided kolo was the better center option than Eli. I think ppl need to accept that maybe Eli just isn’t a starting oline. Other than cuz ppl online said so, what makes you think after 5 6 seasons of backing up the worst center in the league that he’d be better than the dude he was backing up. Maybe just maybe, crazy thought, the OL coach Marty, maybe he knows why Eli isn’t starting and really hasn’t in his career. I’ll let ppl pretend they know linebackers or DBs or receivers but fans pretending to be oline gurus? Cmon man gotta draw the line somewhere.

Mr. Perfect got a reaction from rebusrankin in 3 stars and hh 2001 revengeJake Ceresna. Pretty quiet on the first few series. Absolute animal the rest of the way. Really opened things up for Willie and I'm sure as they get more comfortable with each other it will open up more as the year goes on.
Trey Vaval. His return helped flip the game and him letting the ball go over his head and out of the back of the endzone before the final drive was a premier example of knowing the rules and great special teams coaching.
Brady. Just rock solid. Also loved the usage by Condell given his pass first tendencies on first down historically.
HH: Offensive line. Pretty underwhelming first half. Second half pass protection was a night and day difference and a TREMENDOUS blitz pick-up on the deep pass to Pokey to start the final drive.

Mr. Perfect got a reaction from Tracker in Bombers at Stamps GDTTook a few hours for the hangover to go away from yesterday, but after re-watching the game, I feel there's lots to feel good about, especially considering the standard quirks that typically come with a week 1 game.
Some random thoughts in no particular order...
Half time adjustments. It was clear as day that adjustments were made on both sides of the ball. Half time adjustments, specifically, lack thereof has killed us in years past. Pass protection was significantly better in the 2nd half. Run defence was significantly better too.
Tommy Condell vs Jason Hogan. For those that haven't heard, I'd encourage you to listen to Zach on the post-game show. He was beaming when asked about the offence after the game. Also, Strevvy was live-tweeting during the game yesterday and made a comment about how our receivers were wide open in the intermediate game. That was sorely missing last year, as was just a solid flowing offensive game plan.
The wind - as mentioned by Noeller (also Zach on the post game), this was not a consistent wind throughout the game. I know people on this forum think Osh is an idiot (you're telling on yourself for thinking this, just for the record) but the wind was unpredictable and the team still found a way. The times Osh has in the past decided to kick twice in favour for a fourth quarter wind has usually worked well in our favour. While we didn't have the wind in the fourth, we still found a way. No one bats 1.000
Tommy Nield - Despite the one drop, looked very solid. Nice to have another capable National receiver. I look forward to seeing what he does as he gets more reps in the offence.
Looking ahead - Very much Looking forward to Thursday against Hamilton. I would imagine Tim White has a chip on his shoulder. If we can keep Kenny to a respectable number receiving, I like our chances. Hopefully the forecast changes as it looks like crap for the end of the week, Thursday included.

Mr. Perfect got a reaction from Booch in Bombers at Stamps GDTTwo points I forgot:
Perkins looks like a natural in short yardage. For CFL rookies, short yardage can sometimes be an adventure. When we went for it around our own 20 or 25 with a full yard and he was able to convert, that to me indicated the coaches have all the trust in the world in him to be able to convert.
Long snapping: Two snaps on field goals were less than ideal. Kudos to our holder for being able to dig it out of the turf and get it pinned for Sergio without interrupting his rhythm of the kick.

Mr. Perfect reacted to Noeller in Bombers at Stamps GDTExtremely cold and extremely windy at McMahon. I haven't watched the video yet, but based on your posts, I don't think you guys realize how bad the elements were... It was like a playoff-time game, as confirmed by Zach on the OB post game. Just absolutely brutal conditions to play in. The wind was swirling all night and absolutely did change directions which is what kind of ****** the Bombers re: coin toss, etc.
Defense and offense each took turns looking like all stars and then absolute hot steaming garbage. The stamps final scoring drive was embarrassing to sit there and watch.
I, too, was fully expecting a fumble or INT on our final offensive drive. Credit to Zach and the whole offense for getting it done in the clutch. We have the best kicker in the league by a mile... Once they completed that pass to Pokey I knew we had won.
McMahon is an absolute graveyard for us and has been for generations. That, combined with the weather, the fact that it's the first game of the year, on the road.... Just getting out of there with two points is a blessing. I really feel like next week at #FortHew will look better.
Last year I walked out of McMahon at half time of that ludicrous "Stampede Bowl"... This year, redemption.
Mrs Noeller was 0/5 in games attended last year and on the verge of being banned by me and @Coorsman from attending any further Bombers games. As the kick sailed through at the end, she looked at me and said "My curse is lifted!"... She may stay... For now.
Go Blue.
