I do agree though that both guys gained from the position they were playing, to some degree. Spot on the field in combination with our backfield defensive scheme make a lot of our guys shine. Ford is impressive though.
February 12Feb 12 comment_745711 Ford is the real deal imo. Just hard to justify spending a lot on that position...especially field side. Good luck to him just not against us.

Crazy.

Is there any big fish remaining? I'm not seeing it. When you look at ZC stats from last season he's very comparable to Dru Brown and Jake Maier (not very good) but Zach makes $600k/per. Even Rourke had his fat deal in BC renegotiated to be more team friendly but you don't hear that happening in 'Peg. Walters is hamstrung by his overpay at QB. You can't overpay for mediocre QB play. I say this is one of the MBB forumites who wanted to keep Brown over Collaros as it was evident to some -even in '23- that ZC was in decline.

You never want to get into a disagreement with a Greek, once they're done yelling they start crying and throwing dishes around.

Agree on Ford....good corner....not 230k good when you can get an American to play the same spot as good....or better for 75 to 125k....

Yep..we didn't need him. 1 hour ago, Fatty Liver said: Doubt it, they wouldn't have made the playoffs without him the past 4 seasons. Yep. Last year wasn't a great year but he was the best QB by just about every statistically relevant category in the last half of the season. Was the highest rated QB in 2023, and back to back MOPs the two years before that. I will entertain the notion that he may be on the down slope, and that his playoff performances are at best average but the revisionist history about his over all contribution to this 5 year run we are on is kind of mind boggling.
February 13Feb 13 comment_745749 And now it’s 2025 and last year Zach was looking like washed Aaron Rodgers. He made lots off dumb decisions like throwing into double or triple coverage lots. Looking for the long bomb instead of the dude open 7 yards away. I’d call it rookie mistakes. And Zach ain’t that. He was good in 2023 but really last year was his worst and that’s scary cuz dude ain’t gonna magically get younger and better. I personally would have signed Dru when I had the chance and possibly traded Zach for a nice haul. Edited February 13Feb 13 by Goalie

We need to be much more effective this season in the passing game, last season it felt like it was all or nothing. It would be nice to have times where we can complete 6 passes in a row for 10 - 15 yards and not rely on the big play to move the ball.

They watched a masterful performance in the West final but chose to ignore it. They watched an Argos DL completely dominate our OL in last year's Grey Cup and an OC completely refuse to alter the game plan when it happened....but it's on Zac. They watched Zac turn his game around the entire 2nd half of the season and be the best QB in the league in the 2nd half of the season but choose to focus on the first 6 games where our OL was swiss cheese and our receivers didn't know the playbook. Zac still has more than enough game to win us a Grey Cup this year. Can he win it alone? Nope. Gonna need help....all QBs do. Edited February 13Feb 13 by GCn20

February 13Feb 13 comment_745784 So, I'm still a believer in Zach, but here's where the middle ground is, I think: While Zach is still very capable of being the elite 2022 guy that was putting up gaudy stats, it does seem like those games are becoming less and less frequent. I remain hopeful that the 2024 West Final is something he can do more regularly, but he definitely needs a lot of help to do it (primarily his protection, as it seems like he gets happy feet very easily these days). And where a lot of people are having an issue is that he's being paid for 2022 Zach and being paid like a guy who shouldn't need as much help as he does. Taking the salary out of the conversation, I still believe in a healthy Zach's ability to lead us to a Grey Cup, with the right tools around him.

Dobson is no loss to our starting calibre of play but hurts our depth because Wallace will be a starter now. Wouldn't bet on that- Wallace was awesome in his few times on the field, and if he is reasonably smart, he can pick up the system and calls quickly. 12 minutes ago, Noeller said: So, I'm still a believer in Zach, but here's where the middle ground is, I think: While Zach is still very capable of being the elite 2022 guy that was putting up gaudy stats, it does seem like those games are becoming less and less frequent. What is worrisome is that Collaros' performance trend has been downward for the past three seasons. Yes, there are other factors such as a sub-par O-line, injured receivers and crappy offensive play-calling, but the trend is there.
