yeah...Has a nice mix of receiver types...Plus BO tenderizing the defence.....If ZC is dialed in...and Strev gets reps and packages as a legit dual threat QB...we be cooking with gas

I actually like the kid we just picked up from Laurier....could sneak on roster too as a Canadian backup...

Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -Al

  • Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler …

Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

forgot the most important part....NFL politics

Who was drafted...who has money invested already....who has hype....and who is a CFL refugee.....Poor Pokey is missing all those 3 key ones....AND has the CFL refugee status...we will see him in the fall....if not sooner....he may not even get to main camp..sadly for him...Bonus for us...Gimme a Pokey/Schoen/Demski/Big Kev quartet...and I would gues Dillon Mitchel and one of White/Stern as a backup...we can roll with that

He was at their rookie camp a week and a half ago and he's at their OTA's now but I haven't seen him mentioned once so far.  Given his status as an UDFA/CFL guy, he needs to standout to have any shot, and so far he hasn't done that.

yeah...I haven't heard a peep either....and he's has basically the death sentence of facts pertaining to him....if he isnt head and shoulders above the rest and pops off the page daily....put a fork in him as he's done.....I sure a few guys ahead of him have money invested in them as well

Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town Saturday, so won’t be able to be at the game.  Hopefully the CFL+ stream is good.

It was good for the first pre-season game, I think they tied the audio to the Lions radio network but not entirely sure.

We didn't hear a whole bunch about Ontaria Wilson last year either. Most ppl here were kind of who is that after he made the cut last year. I don't remember hearing a lot about Dalton Schoen until the last half of camp in his rookie year either.

Not quite true.  Wilson was getting a lot of reps with the 1st team offense early in main camp last year so there was some talk.  He was also listed as one of our neg listers in Sep 2023 and then signed to a futures contract a month later so he was already on the radar prior to last year.  The problem is that we don't hear a whole lot about camp in general anymore - doesn't matter if it's an established vet or a rookie.

Talking mainly about the hype machine. Around here we tend to hear a lot about some guys and bupkus about others because someone went to camp one day....lol

I'd settle for some unfounded hype right about now.  48 hours out from the 1st pre-season game and I've heard very little about camp.  Other than Tait's "Training Camp Reports" (which don't really report all that much), there's been next to nothing.  Feels worse than usual but maybe it's just me?

I know I'm an unabashed fanboi, but I feel like Ed's actually been doing even more than usual this year. He's not only doing daily reports but also has weekly wrap ups with "Who Stood Out" and he's even been doing a podcast on YouTube with his take on things so far.

So while I can't speak for the other outlets, Our Man Tait has been putting in a concerted effort to really cover it as well as he can.

I love ET's work but his reports aren't what I want to see.  Like his day 10 write-up, for example, was 95% about Schoen getting healthy, 3% about Willie and Adams acting crazy on ST drills & 2% about Lofton coming back in & a handful of guys sitting out.

There was nothing about who's standing out, who had a rough go, who's practicing with who, that sort of thing. Like did absolutely nothing happen that day?  To me, that's a not a TC report, despite the name of the article.

Blue Bombers Training Camp Report | Day 10 - Winnipeg Blue Bombers

yeah....agreed....he toes the line...gives a few more words on what is said in coach/player interviews

From exerience at camp...and practices during the yr the local reporters for most part aren't watching anything other than when they hear some whooping or hollerin from players on a nice play....and if they were watchig have no idea of even what they are...or need to watch to see who is actually legit...Thats why it's nice to have forum people there who take an interest in the players...especially new ones to see how they doing...and also can see first hand how some the vets are coddled and gifted spots over guys who worked thier asses off...and are actually better...but not a fav vet

That's what happens when the football season is moved up 2-3 weeks & training camps start mid May. We have the SC playoffs going on in Canada. Everyone is paying attention to that. Especially media. Camps should be starting now with the pre season in June & season openers July 1st.

It is nice to get a variety of camp reports from actual fans. Always have to take them with a grain of salt, as everyone has their biases and one day at camp is just a snap shot in time, but for the most part way more informing than anything out in the media. I like to hear about new recruits especially that are standing out, having a rough day, or even looking lazy and lost. As a reader I just have to remember it's one day in camp and not get too high or low on a player. Back when I used to attend camps regularly, I never really posted much about it because I was the type of guy that would sometimes get tunnel vision on one or two players that caught my attention and lock in on them instead of observing camp as a whole. Some camp reports I read were how I observed camp that day, and some were way out in left field making me wonder if that guy even attended or was just making it up. At any rate, I look forward to hearing your camp takes Booch. I love hearing a fan's perspective, especially when the fan knows something about the game.

Also, I agree that the media attending spend more time hunting down coffee and donuts, and standing around in a circle yapping with each other than actually paying attention to anything actually going on at field level. Some guys watch the first 10-15 minutes and draw their daily conclusions from that, then it's mostly hang around and visit. Very few stay the whole session either.

Forgot to add that I'm actually glad you are going a little later in camp as well. The first few days are really kind of unfair to the rookies. They kind of all look like dog crap while they adjust to our game. By week 2 they settle in and you can get a much more accurate read on which ones actually have the skill level because they have gotten over the adjustment period a bit,

Yeah...first week or so i think isn't a good indicator of much other than who's hurt
