February 5Feb 5 comment_744802 Some people.... do you guys really not work in a job that requires collaboration and multiple voices working on a project? Yeah ultimately someone is "in charge" but most things are a group effort.

February 5Feb 5 comment_744805 I'm surprised the salary cap jumped like that -- is the league healthy enough to spend $3.6MM more on salaries?

February 5Feb 5 comment_744808 My assumption on the delayed OC announcement is that it has something to do with Jarious Jackson and what his role/compensation would be... It wouldn't surprise me if him and Hogan are being paid at a similar level... I'm a little surprised Jackson wasn't given an additional title like pass game coordinator, or even Asst HC... the only really confusing part is Ed Tait saying prior that the move would not be surprising...

February 5Feb 5 comment_744826 I find it pretty hard to believe that the GMs did not know that this would at least be a possibility. It appears to me that a couple of them rolled the dice that there would be a big jump, and most would not risk it. I could be out to lunch on that but the math around this FA adds up that way.

They had their winter meeting about a month ago, I'm sure it was discussed. So league revenues increased substantially last season, despite sucky attendance in most locations? Was that due to gambling revenue or what? Edited February 5Feb 5 by Fatty Liver

There might be some truth to it. In their article, 3DN says: Quote Teams expected the salary cap limit to be $5,65,000 million for the 2025 season. However, it has jumped by $412,365 to $6,062,365 million — a 7.3 percent increase. So depending on when teams were informed of the final numbers, some GM's may have been game planning around the lower number only to find out they had more money to play with later.
February 5Feb 5 comment_744835 I saw someone mention that the league was to advise the CFLPA on Jan 15th what the increase would be. So Walters knew about the increase and he still let Lawler walk? Or if the GMs actually didn't know about the increase until today, would Walters try to re-sign any of the players that have verbal agreements with other teams?
February 5Feb 5 comment_744836 If there's an opportunity to take a shot at the Bombers (regardless of who is in charge) Friesen will take it. I stopped believing anything he writes about the CFL/Bombers a long time ago and that hasn't changed. Edited February 5Feb 5 by Bigblue204

O'Shea told Friesen today that they didn't know until today. I'm legit curious if some of the Deals In Principle will change because of this information.
February 5Feb 5 comment_744838 The Sun? The same ass wipe of a paper that kept track how many days Troy Westwood was locked out of camp way back when? No thanks. Friesen is an ass clown on the best of days.

If it’s engage and co-create approach - lots of collaboration with multiple voices.

If what Friesen is peddling is true, and teams have an exclusive negotiating window the last 48 hours before FA officially begins, I could see some players getting offers from their former team that might bring them back. February 5Feb 5 comment_744841 My concern would be that re-engaging with players who already signed an agreement with another team and have informed the Bombers that they are moving on would not fall within "the way we do things".

February 5Feb 5 comment_744846 Maybe they can use some of this new revenue to track stats properly and on time. Nah, probably not. I wonder if the coach's cap is also going up. The league could certainly use that growth.
