The St Vital Mustangs run a great program. Dakota High School is benefiting from this big time.

Dakota just received the biggest fine in MHSAA history for recruiting and their head coach resigned.  He also coaches LB’s with the Bisons but it was a pretty big shock.

On our WR group, are we discounting the fact that Wilson may not make it to camp with the Jets?

He could be back but all we have is that if he comes back to the CFL this year he has to play for us.  He could get cut and sit and wait for the next NFL call until 2026 if he wants.

Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -Al

  • Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler …

Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

Re Hogan hiring... why did this take months, when all along OShea was gonna go with the Bomber vet again.

(timing strategy is likely to distract us on the lack of impact free agent signings)

The only ppl who really care about the OC hiring is on this site tho so keep that in mind. 25000 season ticket holders plus really don’t.  But yup. Odd timing.

Wonder where Hogan is getting his playbook from, hopefully Jackson brings his with him

Bombers sign Josh Hagerty, seems like a decent ST add

Decent size, 6'3" 200 lbs. could be a Safety or just another ST head-banger.

Dang when did that happen? I play with Dakotas QB in a beer league and he seems pretty pumped for the up coming season.

Lawler leaving.. it's not the end of the world.  Look what happened last time he left... we found a young and better replacement.   I'd much rather we drop $275 000 on a star LB'er or a guy on the d-line.   As said many many many times over the years.... receivers and running backs are the easiest positions to fill.     Not worried at all that he left.

Hogan ... that is a head scratcher.  I guess he comes cheap?  I don't know why they wouldn't have Jarious as the OC and let Hogan be an assistant or something for a few years.   Not a great move IMO.

So when are we signing a star punter?

Dobson off to the Hammer....yup we did well so far this winter

We lost a star receiver, a star Db... and a whole bunch of mediocre players.   I don't see how it's the end of the world?

Also in free agency what team has ever won the cup based on a plethora of off season free agency signings?  For the last many years I can only remember everyone on here mocking Edmonton and Saskatchewan and Hamilton for continously over paying for free agents only for them to wash out by mid season.

who said end of the world....said we did well this winter.....we also missed out on a buttload of talent that could have helped us too...lost an OC....Ass G.M ....threw away our dline depth that got snapped right up...just lost a starting olineman...have zero proven depth now at reciever...dline......if thats not doing well I not sure what is...I guess re-signing some dead weight makes it ok?...I dunno...you tell me

Except for the players in the league. That’s who you really make it on time for.

Maybe thats why we missed out on all the WR's available not named Lawler....too much unknown here...players like to know who they playing for and if it a good scenario to get their dollars up

I'd say Kelly's job to lose....Maybe even go global??...but looks to be thats where we gonna put the Ford ratio slot...and it's much easier to have a competent backup there too

Do you have a link for that story? I can’t find anything about it.

Surprisingly hasn't hit media yet.

In January.  Won't affect the current players at all.

Losing Dobson is not the end of the world, he had some pretty average games. Have a feeling the bombers are going to to with 3 imports on the line this year.

I am certain Wallace will offer as much and more there in his second yr here than Dobson did...plus he great on his feet and active...and apparently is a sponge to coaching...what better place to grow into it than beside Big Stan too

call me stoopid but what kind of recruiting violations would occur in WHS Football?

This is a head scratcher. I don’t get point hogan over Marty. This is a hyper young Jump. Bourgoin would’ve made more sense too.
Putting him over Jackson is even stranger. If you’re that big a believer in hogan, make him ast the oc under Jackson and develop him.

This is a giant leap for hogan. I think he’s spent 2 years as an OC at the college or higher level in his coaching career. He’s spent as much time as a defensive assistant.

Maybe hogan is one of these young brilliant offensive football minds. I’ll be very happy if that’s true. We will see soon enough.

Should be Kelly. I’m not holding my breath on globals. We went from top of the charts finding talent there to after thought.

Yet the Younger hire was pretty much exactly the same thing. Highly regarded young coach with a highly respected older mentor off in the wings.  I was apprehensive last year when we demoted Hall and gave the reigns to Younger. That experience has me with much more of a wait and see attitude this year. I like that they brought in a mentor for Hogan to work along side him.

Not even close. Marty and Bourgoin are highly regarded coaches like Jy. Jy would’ve gotten a dc job else where, we had calls about him and had to move him up to keep him. Bourgoin got that call and took it, we didn’t match. Marty is high on that list now league wide.

I too just want to announce that I have absolutely extreme negative emotion about this OC hire, and I am basing it off the tiny percentage of his visible work that I am familiar with.

In all seriousness I would have hired Jackson and am happy to have him as QBC. Hogan has been around and worked his way up. Anyone pretending to know exactly how it will work out, positive or negative, is hilarious.

Every reference size is small with hogan. He’s got 2 years of being an oc ast in college and an oc qc once.
How exactly has hogan been around and worked his way up?

He may well prove to be a worth while hire. But with out question he is taking a huge career leap forward and is by far the least experienced co in the league. Both at his position and in the league/pros.

It would seem we made the active choice of him over bourgoin, Jackson, Marty, lapo etc.

I’m really interested to see what kind of offence he runs.
