Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -Al

  • Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler …

Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

That seems incredibly cheap for the numbers Schoen puts up, gives Walters $50k savings on one contract he can push towards Lawler, who rarely earns his salary.

The playtime and performance bonuses could be significant Walters doesnt normally do this but in this case its good for both sides. Ottawa released Rhymes wonder if they make play for Lawler or Hollins

I was going by 3dwn for the salary which might have been a mistake,,, is there a better source?(just asking)

13) Redha Kramdi, Winnipeg Blue Bombers (N)

Hard money: $125,000
Maximum value: $139,000

A rare Canadian starter at strongside linebacker, Kramdi’s unicorn status is reflected in his $86,200 salary and $25,000 signing bonus. The 27-year-old is also entitled to $13,800 for housing, as well as $1,000 for either form of all-star selection and $2,000 for a divisional or league award, with the ability to cash in up to three times at each level.

so 86.2+25+13.8=124.8 hard money. ly he had 5 knockdowns (about middle of the pack in dbs, and 6 tackles for loss which was top 5)

And the rest was in reporting money. Every vet gets this to compensate for the travel and upstart money in town.

5 pass knock downs is only middle of the pack if you look at every db in the league. Look at him compared to all the starters. Look at pass kd per start.

Like I said, he has an excellent knack for coming up in the run game especially when he’s blitzed. We always work in the db back side blitz. Hes good at it. He’s not good at making plays in coverage.
Which is entirely fine. You need role players in your ni group. We can excel on D with him in a specific role, clearly. The issue is we have over paid him by a big chunk.

If he can take one more step forward as a player, it won’t be an issue. Unless we then try to pay him crazy ford money.
But he we also need him to retain his level of play from the second half and change of last year. We can’t have him step back from that closer to his career average level of play. He went from a good back up rotational ni, to a solid starting ni. Paying guys ahead of that step is dangerous and bad business.

Not just 175...

That’s friggin awesome! Very good deal for us. Very happy he’s back.

I wonder if this deal helps reset the wr market? Idk how you pay Gino or even lawler a lot more.

Clearly Kramdi negotiated his contract with leverage, if Walters decided not to pay what he asked for in order to save $20k, good chance he goes back home and plays for the Als and the Bombers lose a solid Natl. asset they developed to a competitive team.  Do that often enough and they end up in the Stamps position.

I like the price...prob a post injury deal and rightfully so...totally puts us in li e to sign Lawler now...my bird in tree said he would be inked here prior to fa open...for 2...guess we shall see...

Which makes sense as it may tale a half yr to get to where he was...if he can get there...he needs to avoid the Poundings he takes tho

And wr would have been just fine as he isn't a ratio requirement ..

What leverage? We started 10-11 canadians that year

Yeah...he's just makes osh cream

Who else puts a Canadian there...it's a place where u want your best all around cover and run guy...he's not that and we pay a premium for pedestrian play.....he's a good role guy..Can be the starter if need be...but it's bad allocation on several levels...and who cares how smart he is..doesn't mean you are an allstar...

The Wheat Stompers did sign Mike Rose.

Man, I am pumped that Dalton is back and that price is a steal.

If land get Lawler back or add somebody like Gino, I am going to really celebrate. Like this will be me:

I don't think Gino will be here. At least I hope not. We need to spend money resigning Dobson on our OL & still bolster our DL.

We did...Jake

And we know if JT is on roster...it will be mega reps taken away from someone far superior...

Having played just 18 games the past 2 seasons, I can't see Lawler asking for $300,000 or more. Even $250,000 is a stretch. You never know, someone may pay.

The savings we could see on lawler and schoen are significant.

which makes me look at Demskis deal in an even worse light. He would be on track to be the highest paid wr in the league at this point.
I love Demski and I’d like him to be back. But not to the tune of 225k+. In a choice between Demski and ceresna I’d like ceresna. I’d rather pay ford to stay than give Demski that kind of money.

I’d rather have kept woli and let Demski go while saving 100k+

Love Lawler but think we may lose him and I understand completely if Walter's won't show him the money again. We haven't got value for his pay the last 2 years.

He likely has a very similar contract to Schoen in front of him. He can choose to be here and take an incentive laden contract that will require he bets on himself or take the money and run I guess.

You can't regret what was fair market rate after the fact. But I agree that there appears to have been a reset. Too bad that didn't happen a year or two earlier

Regret yes, blame no. It is too bad this didn’t happen before things got crazy.
