Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -Al

  • Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler …

Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

My guess...and just a guess, is that we don't end up with either ford. Tre IMO is too raw and in a difficult position, with Fajardo, Mc Beth, Mair,  Masoli, Streveler etc. potentially being available. This year QB's who have taken teams to the cup and even won it are potentially available....and not many teams will be looking for a number 1, so he is still looking to be a "bridesmaid" I think.

Tyrel has shown he is patient with the NFL, I think he will have some interest, and can't blame him for trying.....I think if/when he has his sights set on the CFL his ask will be too much for us.

Yeah I think Ford may get some NFL camp looks, but I have a feeling both he and Holm will test FA either way.

i agree  about Tre even if hes not going as a clear 1, theres a number of teams that have a lot less money tied up in starting qb than us and can afford him. Montreal if they cut Fajardo, Hamilton, Ottawa, and even Sask likely, I wouldnt be surprised if both Fords end up in Hamilton which is close to home.

I do rhink we may sign Holm prior to free agency as we likely wont wait on Tyrell

Tre Ford is #1?  The guy couldn't even win a starting job on a bad team.

Wasn’t the best qb on 2nd worst team in the league. Which was the worst for a big chunk of the year, and their offence got worse in every way after he came in.

Id take him as at a cheap price as qb3 but not more than that. This off season is filled with guys who are gonna be settling for qb2 roles, he isn’t even the best in that group. Realistically he isn’t in the top 30 free agents.

We can do what we did with Jefferson. Hate playing against him- just sign him.

He would 100% fit i here. Not only is he an amazing player... dude's a leader.

Wynton McManis earned $206,500 last season as the CFL's highest paid LB and he's now a FA, can you estimate what it will cost to employ him next season?  Hint, cutting Jake Thomas is not going to create enough wiggle room to accommodate his salary.

Cutting JT is not for a financial reason, it’s for a well past his prime reason.

I'll bet if you don't bring back Jake, Bighill and Wilson, you have the cap space to find out.

It’s funny that despite 1 year deals and massive roster turnover after each season we don’t actually see most of the best FAs hit free agency.

That's true, but the one year contract often serves the purpose of getting them a raise every year without having to lock in at the same rate they received the previous year.

Are you willing to bet the farm those cuts will be made?

Those are cuts that should be made- who knows what they will do.
