This is kind of what I was wondering… if you just copied and pasted the text into your first post… would that satisfy some people here?

A mod would have to confirm, but as I understand it any posts sharing articles can only contain references so that people go and read the whole thing on the website. Don’t believe while copy pasted articles are allowed.

I am still perplexed by your reasoning. Don’t fans on this site want people to hear their opinion? What’s the difference between that and a blog post? Only difference I can see is that a blog post is

This is a rule of the site, but it is mostly around legalities of not trying to steal content and making sure people who create content get the revenue / clicks / views for producing it.  If Zach wants to post an article he wrote on this site, its his right as its his content.

As for posting articles here, I have no problem with Zach promoting content here.  As many have said, there is very little CFL content in even the major news sites these days, so if its a passion, I see no harm in doing what they are doing.  It promotes the CFL and Winnipeg sports scene, which is great.    Without any knowledge of traffic or the business model for Bonfire sports, I highly doubt they are getting rich off of it.

It might trend to spam if he starts posting a new thread daily which simply links to an article, but that is not at all what I've seen so far.  There is a stickied thread where he posts videos, and this is the first "dedicated" thread I've seen or remember.

Go do your thing Zach and let the haters hate.

Will do! Thanks everyone.

I particularly enjoy the pregame content with Chris Walby, I never would have known about it if Zach hadn't posted it months ago. There is plenty of worthwhile content to watch and read if you're looking for CFL content

I assume that like MBB at least part of your revenue is generated by ad views. I wonder if there is a way to throw a little MBB banner link up somewhere on your website, or a 'friends of the page' section somewhere? Get those clicks flowing both directions! A bunch of newcomers would really piss 17to85 off 😛

I don't know, just throwing it out there, I'm not an admin or anything

Interesting idea. I’d have to ask Darrin

Same with me. This is my blog as well. I really enjoy talking Bombers & CFL here & say what's on my mind. I do have quite a few comments on X, Facebook & Instagram as well. I use my real name & don't hide behind a pseudonym like here.

Zach, I’m all in favour of you posting your stuff up here if you’re looking for dialogue or engagement or whatever. Go nuts. But if you say anything related to John Hodge is top-notch ever again, I will dedicate however much time is needed to learning how to use the AdminCP so I can banish you forever.

Hahaha I’m already nuts. Anyway, I’m sorry you feel that way about Hodge! I really enjoy his Bombers post-game stuff on 3down and his articles. I’m curious, what’s your issue with him?

Honestly it's time to move on from Walby, he has no inside info. anymore, knows none of the current players personally and rarely attends games anymore.  It's time for Bauming to update the insider information with someone more recently removed from the game, even if they're not as well known as Walby.  Maybe save his appearance for once a season during "oldtimers remember" week.

I just don't see the point of someone trying to advertise their journalism cos play on here. If people feel his opinion is worth seeking out they can do it. Otherwise pay up to advertise here.

Awful take, from a poster I usually acknowledge as one of the "leaders" around these parts

You're so far out of line here it's sad and screams of bitterness and broken dreams, or something

Who **** in your cheerios. If I had put a link to one of my songs in the music thread would you **** on me? Or call me a fake wannabe?

I cannot even fathom this

My issue with him is that he has taken his connections that he’s built as a blogger/reporter/whatever you wanna call it - which are fairly reliable - and parlayed it into parading himself around as an expert on football, which he is not.

He’s pretty good as a Naylor-lite, someone who has some decent connections to the league but when he actually has to formulate an opinion of his own, it’s an incredibly tough read and I think he’s tricked himself into believing because he’s good at one, he’s automatically good at the other and he’s never bothered to try brushing up on his actual knowledge of the sport.

Some people mistake being connected for being knowledgeable. Hodge is a fantastic example. It's why with a doofus like suitor it's so frustrating... guy could put in a little shred of work to parlay his position and access into something insightful... instead we get the same bland **** regurgitated ad nauseum every single game.

Knowledge mostly I would think. Guy says some dumb stuff. You will find the dislike of his content nearly unanimous around here. No one has issue with the guy personally and full marks to him for taking the time. Just needs to bone up his xs and os before revealing to the world he doesn't have any on a weekly basis

If he stuck to the news stuff and qualified his opinions as being that of a layman fan..no issues would be had.

Interesting. I didn’t realize his X’s and O’s stuff was errant.

You know it’s true because you and I agreed wholeheartedly

Purely from a lifelong hardcore BB fan’s perspective where there is no second favorite team, the latest years of entertainment our squad has given us in being top of league has been outstanding considering the lean years we endured. Wouldn’t replace it for anything.
To continue this entertainment crushing the watermelon heads and winning the GC would be most appreciated.

How is that different than any other journalist?  Does Ed Tait or Darren Bauming know anymore about football than John Hodge?  As far as I see 3DN is not an insider's scoop, it's a much needed CFL focused media outlet.
