Willy, Bellefeuille, this one is on you guys!
Willy may not be standing in cement but pretty sure he wears concrete shoes. He's a pretty big QB and he has poor acceleration from a standstill, which unfortunately is his M.O. on almost every play. Put a DE with momentum in pursuit of him as he flees the pocket and 9 out of 10 times he is not going to escape. Even Old man Ricky seems to get away 50% of the time in that same situation. Hopefully Willy chooses to work on throwing in motion in the off-season so that he can prolong his career more than 3 years.

Never thought of this angle before but isn't it a QB coach's job to not only prepare but also to protect the QB from this kind of mental and physical abuse? What we have witnessed this season is the deconstruction of a talented young QB with infinite promise into the shambles of a Buck Pierce look-a-like, all under the tutelage of Gene Dalquist. So what is Dalquist's role in all of this? In the least Dalquist should have communicated his concerns directly to O'Shea or Marcel but perhaps he has no real sway or like O'Shea saw nothing wrong in the game-plan last night. Either way, I award Dalquist with a Fail.

Drew Willy
Drew Willy said in the post game press conference that he realized during the game that he was not progressing to his 2nd and 3rd reads and this contributed to the sack total.

Mike O'shea - Sad Reality
No logic to that and waaaay too much of a gamble in the precarious situation the Bombers find themselves in after this season. Best to get out of the blocks early in the off-season and grab the best fishes in the CFL pond.

Note to Etch.
I'd be surprised if they didn't purge all 3, hard to defend their records and if O'Shea does it sets up for a hostile audience next year if things don't go swimmingly. Basically the Tim Burke scenario played over, there is very little reason to even consider keeping these coordinators for next year.

Lions @ Bombers GDT - - Win Or You're Out
I don't buy the notion that Willy is playing with crap talent on offence any longer. A lot of the blame that has been thrown on the receivers recently is misdirected and is partially on Willy. Before the game Willy was talking about spreading the ball around making use of all the weapons but he did nothing of the kind and yet last week with the two backup QBs playing miraculously this was accomplished. And as for Kelly being too slow, Kohlert caught 8 balls last week and he makes Kelly look like the roadrunner.

Yup.. Threats of violence always make your point more valid.. Smh. No - thats more frustration I get what he's saying. It can be infuriating when a 'fan' only see's what they want to see. Willy had all kinds of time to throw, he had receivers open. It was hilarious, on the telecast, Suitor tried to make a point that all the receivers were covered. The 'short' receiver was about 6 yards underneath the coverage, but of course Suits was on a roll so he said he was 'covered'. About 10 minutes of game time after that, Beck got the snap, turned, and fired a dart to Gore I believe it was, who was 'wide open' just like the bomber receiver was above, only the bomber defender was about 3 yards off him. It's amazing all the apologists there are for Drew 'freakin' Willy. At least more fans are finally starting to see what I've been seeing since mid-August. He hasn't nearly been good enough, and tonight was his worst start yet (but low an behold he finally threw another TD pass). But yeah, I get his frustration. Unless you know what the read progression is on the play that is called, it is impossible to say "he had receivers open." Probably the biggest fallacy in football from a fans point of view, when everyone goes "hey, that guy is open!" Ya, but it's the QB's 6th read, and the by the time the ball gets to him the DB or LB is going to completely fill in the "opening" most of the time. About as dumb as the people who yell "shoot" all the time on the powerplay at a hockey game. Are you a pro Qb? Juran, I'll ask you then you seem to 'know your stuff'. Explain to me how our second stringer, Brian Brohm, and our third stringers, Robert Marve, can, with the same receivers, same oline, and same OC, and same play calling, make plays, and Willy can't? This is a legit question 'cause I definitely don't have a clue. Thanks in advance Willy had a bad game. Doesn't change the point of my other^ post, we can't know if he had receivers "open" or not because we don't know what he was looking at before or during the play. Unless you have access to the coaches film it's a complete assumption to make watching on TV or from the stands. BC has a great secondary, that's part of it. Our scheme with Willy doesn't move him around a lot. Hard for us to say if that is Bellefeuille's fault, Willy's fault (in terms of him preferring to take a straight drop) or a combination. Our scheme for Brohm vs Calgary moved him around a lot, even though he isn't a "mobile" QB. Did he "make plays?" I wouldn't say he did anything special. He was steady, but it was pretty obvious that the game was simplified for him with the rollouts which essentially shorten the field, make throws and reads a little quicker. Marve was just blind luck IMO, and even at that he completed 50% of his passes while continually putting the ball in harms way. It doesn't matter what he's freaking told to look at, the best QBS in the league will find an open receiver if they are open. Especially if they are wide open! You CAN"T find an open receiver though, if you don't even look. The majority of the time Willy wasn't looking, he was panicking!#!#1 Even when he didn't have to panick!!!!! I noticed this as well, Willy does not swivel his head, he's focused on one side of the field and pays no attention to the other half.

You mised mistake #5. Sitting Sears for 5 games when he was healthy.

Drew Willy
You know that's the first good argument I heard about that. That could very well be why he didn't throw the hail mary pass at the end, figured no one would catch it, and didn't want a 'third' interception, so lets just take a sack. I agree - I don't want to see him throw another interception or incomplete pass for the rest of the season - don't want his 'stats' ruined lol. So I say - start Marve, with Philpot (or whatever his name is) as the backup. Willy can sit upstairs with MB. Hell with Marve, I want to see what Philpot has to offer.

I Blame the Coaches
It's like they didn't learn a damn thing about the things they did right last game. Did Willy roll out even once today?

Willy, Bellefeuille, this one is on you guys!
I agree. Willy had time to throw but didn't pull the trigger. He could have made something happen by scrambling but just sat back and waited for the rush to get to him. Cotton should have received more carries but who knows why he didn't. Too bad Brohm got injured because I think Willy could learn a lot from watching him perform. They're basically the same QB's with poor mobility but Brohm manages to make his reads that much quicker and gets rid of the ball even with the same weak O-line. After watching him for a full season I suspect Willy, like many first year QB's does not see the field that well.

Hamilton @ Toronto
Moses Madu certainly having a good game, Grigsby not so much. Doubt he survives TC next year with Gable back.
-
Note to Etch.
I stand corrected, Antolin ran 17/157 against the RB's 2 weeks ago, so BC's running game is still a threat.
-
Hamilton @ Toronto
Half-time update Grigsby 5 carries for 8 yards. Haven't seen him in the 3rd Q yet.
-
Grigsby Now A Tiger Cat
Grigsby 5 carries for 8 yards in the first half!!!
-
Grigsby Now A Tiger Cat
Same old Grigsby so far, except he's seems to have been replaced by Madu in running situations.
-
Note to Etch.
He's going to switch to a 3-4 defence and Oshea will claim problem solved, no need for changes. Without Harris run D may not be that big of a problem in this game but if they don't pressure Kevin Glenn he could pick them apart.

Durant on cusp of return to Riders lineup!
I tried to hit on Sellers wife. He wasn't around. She was waaaaay out of my league. I didn't know it was his wife til the next day. I'm friggin lucky to be alive! Rod, your best chance was to dazzle her with your poetry.

Except that this stat. refers to every game played this year so it can't be dismissed out of hand when it accounts for 92% of all wins. I'm sure if the team with the most passing yards had won with that frequency TSN would have brought that stat. up as well. I wonder how much of the remaining 8% accounts for Bomber victories, I think they out rushed the Argos the RB's and BC early in the season but can't recall them doing it since. (Sorry, too lazy to look through the game stats.)
-
Note to Etch.
That statement is not proof. It simply isn't supported by that statistic you provided. That's taken out of context. Too many factors haven't been included, including passing yards and turnovers. Never said it was a proof, just an interesting stat. Interpret it as you like.
-
Note to Etch.
TSN had a stat. that in 61 out of 66 games this year the team with the most yards rushing has won the game. Seems contrary to Etch's theory that the pass is the primary determinant of wins in the CFL.

Bombers release Paul Swiston
Pencer cut, now Swiston, so much for the future depth of Natl. O-linemen, the cupboard is bare.

Neufeld injured again
Ray Bourke would have been nice.

Neufeld injured again
If it was a poor trade the one remedy is to get Hall back playing for the Bombers again. That'll teach those green-cootied-hicks not to play poker with a Svengali like Walters!
