Jian Ghomeshi and the CBC
Everyone should watch the video in its entirety. And can we please punt the CBC already? Good god, you're actually referencing Ezra Levant for his unbiased opinion? That guy is a wack-a-doodle.

Starting 3 Canadian receivers next season?
I like watching Canadian boys play football. Sue me.

Which Bomber Free Agents will seek greener grass?
We need to open up the bank for Wild. I believe he was the heart & soul of our defence all year, and we were noticeably different when he wasn't there. Never mind he was also our long-snapper......which we also need to deal with for next year. My thoughts exactly. Wild needs to be paid as an elite CFL defender. Also need to address the long-snapper situation with a competent backup. I'll forgive the Bombers if they feel inclined to over-pay on Wild as it would leave a huge hole to fill if he left and as has been proven elite LB'ers don't appear to be that easy to find. He might not command Shea Emry dollars but I don't believe he will be signed for much less, time for the Bombers to pony up to keep the few elite players they currently have. "I'll forgive the Bombers if they feel inclined to over-pay on...." anybody ... it always makes me laugh when I see fans trying to judge salary cap issues as if they knew anything about it ... no one here knows even tiny about it It's not so much a salary cap issue as knowing in general what salary certain elite positional players command. Shea Emery is probably the highest paid LB in the league even though he's nowhere near as good as Solomon Elimimian, he just happens to carry a better passport. I don't think the Bombers should have a problem paying Wild in the $150,000 range. Is that a guess? Yes.

Argos @ Als
I agree Crompton may not look all that pretty but he is effective. I especially like his ability to extend plays on the roll-out something I hope Willy will be able to pick up on. What a story-book finish this season will have if the beleaguered Als. proceed to the Grey Cup.

Mike O'Shea Now Has More Wins In His 1st Season Than Ritchie Did In His
Now you've got me all excited and tingly. Probably won't happen, but the alliterative side of me would sure love have Unamba, Muamba and Mulamba all playing in the backfield at the same time. Rod Black's nipples would explode. Aren't Rod Black's nipples always hard? You've spoiled my day. I'm going to have to go back to heroin to wash that image from my mind.

Thought that was weird but maybe he was just freezing and in an extreme hurry to put his coat on?

LB Ian Wild; -If Muamba can make an NFL roster Wild might give it a shot. With his work ethic hard to see him not making a P.R. somewhere. It will take crazy numbers for Bombers to retain. LB/DB Johnny Sears; -After the Stamps game, said he would like to give the NFL a try. Doug Brown's response, too small but might have a shot at special teams. DB/LB Demond Washington; -Too small for NFL, believe the Bombers will retain. LB/DB Desia Dunn; -Likely expendable, wouldn't be surprised if he followed Tim Burke. CB Matt Bucknor; -No worries, solid Natl. DB so it would be smart for Bombers to retain. OT Glenn January. -Too old and broken. QB Brian Brohm -BC, Sask, RB's, Mtl. all may show interest. Edit: Oopsie, guess a similar post was made last week, nevertheless I'm not deleting it after I spent all that time bolding all of those names!

Drew Willy to start season finale
I thought Willy played reasonably well yesterday except in the Red Zone where he continues to struggle. Early on he was making use of both the running game and quick hitters to take the heat off the pass rush effectively. Considering the weather conditions you couldn't expect a stellar performance from any player much less a QB, games like those really become contests of survival not skill. I would be reassured if it was O'Sheas's conscious decision to switch QB's in order to give the team a spark rather than hearing that Willy got injured and he had no choice, because inevitably I think inserting Marve led to the victory. This would be a positive sign as it shows that indeed O'Shea is learning as he goes along. I don't believe Marve is ever going to be a QB that racks up big stats. but what I like about him is that he is a very competitive QB that makes plays happen somewhat in the style of Zach Collaros. May not be beautiful to watch but this type of QB tends to get the job done more often than not. Going into next season I agree that Willy should be given the starting job but I would like to see O'Shea use Marve consistently and frequently in every game in short yardage and for every Red Zone package. Much like Austin used Dan Lefevour under Burris in 2013, this would allow both QB's game time to develop and provide the security of a game tested QB ready to step in when the inevitable injury bug comes to call. The worst thing they could do is leave Marve on the sidelines like they did for much of this year and completely ignore his skill-set until the day Willy is injured than throwing the full burden of winning games onto his shoulders.

Bomber free agents
Under the new CBA the minimum is one year. The new CBA wasn't signed until well into TC. I doubt that any of our starters are under one year deals. Can hardly wait for those one year minimum contracts to become the standard so that team continuity can be broken down even further with more players coming and going as they choose. As a long-time CFL fan this really tries my patience and makes me not want to be a fan so much. Can't see how a GM can possibly build team unity and develop a winner if the components of the team are always in flux, never-mind sustaining the fans interest through continuity. To think that after one good season a player like Johnny Sears or Ian Wild can jump to another team or the NFL if they're good enough completely defeats the purpose of team building and fans identifying with the players imo. Why bother getting a jersey with a name on the back or memorizing the roster when it will just be a reflection of a fleeting moment in time? Ironic but it probably is a true reflection of the times with shorter attention spans being encouraged and loyalty to a brand being more important than the players who create the brand. If you want an indelible image of tying branding to the individual, just think of the statue the Bombers recently erected to honour the man in the W cap and all that it represents. Someday in the great future maybe they'll stoop to honoring a player like Nic Grigsby with a statue for his contribution to the betterment of Bomber football over 85% of one full season! Some may think this is a better agreement that favours the players but to those players I would say "be careful for what you wish".

Bob Young Comments on CFL Officiating - Not Good Enough
Valid perspect.and it is the current practice. The ref's don't know how the play will turn out, and if they see something, they throw the flag. However, there is a theory of "No harm, no foul", that could be adopted as a rule. That's what I think is being argued. I support that view as well. If you watch some of the coverage on kickoffs you will see players being pulled down away from the play for no reason when the ball is still in flight and these infractions are completely intentional. Either the players are being coached to do this to gain an edge or it's a blatant disregard of the rules hoping that the ref. won't catch it. Either way until the players start playing the game with the intent not to intentionally cheat I'm not going to blame the refs. for the flurry of flags being thrown.

Would You Rate Willy 5th Best?
I agree, as far as first year starters goes Willy comes in at #3 behind both Crompton and Collaros. These two have been creating excitement and success with their teams which is the opposite of what's happened in Wpg. lately. I don't see this vaunted leadership quality emanating from Willy, he acts more like an over-grown grumpy teenager to me.

Bombers will start new WR Jerrell Jackson vs Stamps
I predict this will be Romby's last game of professional football.

Bob Young Comments on CFL Officiating - Not Good Enough
O'Shea is guilty of doing the same, whispering in the ear of the ref. to catch the Sask. center rocking the ball prior to snap in their first game.

Drew Willy to start season finale
Here is a breakdown of Willy's performance in 6 game intervals. 1662 yards 7 TD 4 INT 1315 yards 5 TD 7 INT 770 yards 2 TD 5 INT Clearly regression is a word that could be used to describe these stats.

The play I hate the most
iso iso iso - NO ONE is open on a Hail Mary. Since when do you see an 'open receiver'? You know that for crissakes. Take your fingers out of your ears and stop going LALALALALALALALA. In a Hail Mary you send everyone down the short side, you roll that way, you get about 4 seconds or 5 (and he had that) and you heave it up there and hope for a miracle catch or a PI call. That's why the play is called a "Hail Mary". The chance of success on that play is about 0.01% but the chance is zero if you don't throw the ball. I know you know better, you just can't wrap your head around it. And again Willy himself says he blew it. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF SAND How could Willy throw the ball when he didn't have time & his pass blocking broke down? But we know you think Robert Marve would have completed that pass, right? Just because you say so. Of course, you'll love the guy until he fucks up then **** all over him. That's what fans like you do. EDIT: I knew that one was going to get me in trouble!

Drew Willy to start season finale
O'Shea just confirmed this on the coach's show, he was waiting for Willy to pull a rabbit out of his ass to salvage the victory against the Stamps. Don't get how he sees this transition taking place, Willy isn't like Durant who can run like a bull in a china shop when he needs to make something happen. Our boy Willy ain't got no tricks.Dont gimme that ish.. He HAS mounted crazy comebacks this season... Why wouldnt O'shea think he could do it again... Are just you and Mike completely unaware of the swing in momentum that took place in that game? I heard from every fan in the stadium that caught on to it and it turns out they were visionary. Hey, I never once said I wouldn't have put in Marve. I'm telling you why it does make sense that O'Shea kept him in.. He HAS pulled the chicken outta the fire on more then one occasion.. Sadly Willy was in no shape to locate either his rabbits or his chickens.

I Blame the Coaches
You're time line is a little skewed regarding the Als, they canned Dan Hawkins after 5 games last year and Popp finished out the season. Higgins was hired very late in the off-season, I think around the CFL draft date. This year they fired Rick Worman just after TC and promoted Ryan Dinwiddie to OC. Speculation was rampant this year that Tom Higgins would get fired mid-season but it turned out he righted the ship when they brought in Garcia and Matthews as "consultants" to help out their stumbling QB brigade. I agree a mid-season firing rarely benefits the club, O'Shea has until the end of next season to see if "he get's it".

That's the thing, it's a test for Mike O'Shea to show he can make an intelligent decision and if Willy needs to be replaced, JUST DO IT!!!

Drew Willy to start season finale
I'd respect this decision if I knew that they could take some learned lessons from the last game and apply them to the next but I know it's going to be the same old, same old. Just as they didn't take anything learned from the first Stamps game and apply it to the BC game. O'Shea and crew have proven incapable of renovating, innovating or manipulating their thinking as this season has progressed and will expect to see the same old dog and pony show next Saturday.

I Blame the Coaches
Then the problem you run into is that you won't be able to recruit anyone worth a damn because it's just further instability. No coach wants to go to a place where they're going to be fired after one season. And really why are we firing Etch again? The D has been ok this year. The biggest thing we need on D is some better defensive linemen in there. people are taking this dislike of Etchevary to ridiculous levels. He's not my ideal defensive coordinator but he certainly hasn't done anything to warrant being fired. He was better than I expected him to be and you don't fire a guy after one year when the D wasn't the big problem on this team. If I was putting the 3 phases in order of concerns about them it would be special teams > offense > defense. The payoffs for Etch's gambling were at least apparent in the early to mid-season but they dropped off the map later in the schedule. No real pressure on the QB's was sustained from the D-line or his blitz formations and they were burned heavily on both the run and the long pass. Poblah's TD was a great example, one missed tackle and he was off to the endzone with nary another Bomber to contend with. Legget is an outstanding safety and would probably be a league all-star in a conventional defence but when he spends half the game lined up on the line of scrimmage it defeats the very nature of that position. How is he to make decisions on which receiver he needs to help cover when he is backtracking off the line in order to regain the positioning he should have started the play with?.

Thaddeus Gibson
Not sure what you want to know about "his status". He's on the 1 game IR cause we can only put 46 players on the 46. We moved a spare part for a spare part at a time when we had a lot of Dline players injured, and probably saved a small amount of cash by doing so. Will he play this week? I'd guess no, but who knows what the staff will want to do with the last 60 minutes of football this year. I suspect winning the game will still be a top priority, in which case putting all the backups in is unlikely. Probably a blessing that they're playing this last game away so that their personnel decisions can't be vocally abused by Bomber fans.

I Blame the Coaches
This is correct. They've made some puzzling roster decisions at times this year, but I do think they've gotten over that recently. Much more willing to make changes to things that aren't working. Losing will do that. Not as smart as they thought they were. It's a fine line to walk though, you want to show faith in your players. I really do think O'Shea learned a lot this season about head coaching. I think if we run this guy out of town we're going to regret it. He'll have one more season, 17. He won't be run of unless he keeps his coordinators which I'm afraid he will. Bomber fans need at least 2-3 lambs to stem them over. O'Shea would be wise to offer them up on a spittle.
