Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry
Got to agree with this sentiment. Re-watched a few games specifically to see why Kuale was relatively ineffective as a MLB stopping the run. I concluded that for the most part he started plays in a bad lateral position and had to fight his way back through D-linemen to get to the running lanes instead of coming down hill to fill a gap as with most defencive schemes. It was ludicrous to continually have Kuale starting plays up on the line of scrimmage threatening blitz when the only QB he could probably ever catch would be Willy.

Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry
wild hurt for a couple games, Anderson lost for the season, vega playing injury all year...can you think of a defence that would be successful with as poor a defensive line as the Bombers had this year?Even before those guys got hurt we couldn't stop the run. That's the thing for me... Even with our personnel at 100% for the games we had them it made no difference. The other thing to consider is every team has injuries. You can't continually use that as an excuse for under performance. If the defense is sound. If every gap is covered from A-D then it should work. We need the right personnel in place. Every time we needed the defense late in games to seal the win for us, they failed. As the game went on, our run defense couldn't get the job done. They were worn out. I saw us out physicalled, if that is even a word... Pushed back 5 yards everytime. Our O struggled, yes. But there were games when it was up to Etch's defense to get the ball back for the O by stopping the other teams running backs & they never did. For me, the first change that needs to be made is who's running the defense & that is Etcheverry.and all those rushing yards led to exactly 1 loss in that Early going. So who cares about rushing yards allowed of it doesn't result in losses? Some of you are just so dead set I your ways and any scheme or design that goes against what you believe HAS to be wrong. Etch wasn't the problem.....But it did result in losses. We could never get the ball back or stop the other teams run games later in the season in the late fourth quarter to seal the deal. That can't be ignored. The defense was terrible. First 6 games when etch had his starters in.. Were we getting ran on like it was going out of style? Honestly, I don't know but I think that when our D-line and LBs started to drop like flies, our run defense went down... As did the pass rush, even the blitzes were ineffective after Labour Day.

I doubt it. I bet he's saving that rant for next week.

Bombers extend Troy Stoudermire
Here's a clue, he got injured. He was also injured twice this season in 7 games so his durability is a question in my mind. Hopefully Washington can improve his ball security skills over the off-season because inevitably O'Shea will give him another crack at returning kick-offs.

Divisional All Stars Announced (Only One WBB)
Grigsby over Steele? Obviously talent isn't a requirement to become an Easter All-Star. These awards and being named as the "CFL Greatest Athlete" will look splendid in Grigsby's portfolio when he's looking for work next year. Of course none of this will swell Nic's head.

Ummm....Alouettes are actually larks and are not predators. And so much for nit-picking. Larks yes, but blood thirsty man-eating larks for sure.

Pulling in a timely surplus prior to an election date does not make this govt. good economic managers and does not excuse running up the overall debt of the nation into the stratosphere. This is the basis of good economic management, don't get fooled by the marketing dept. Again you've reverted to the justification of "the other guys would have done worse".

Host BC to Represent East in Grey Cup?
If Hamilton does get to the Grey Cup, Kent Austin is due some respect for his coaching abilities. This happens too often to be considered coincidental.

I don't disagree about the GST but it doesn't matter. They campaigned on it. They promised it. They won and they delivered on their promote. Period. Ultimately lower taxes is never a bad thing. It's just not what I would have done. Lower taxes and a ballooning public service and deficit. How do those ingredients reconcile in the ledger book?

Had we beaten BC last time ...
Next season the Bombers win those games. I'm confident Bombers win at least 9-10 games next season. Could've won them this year too. We were outplayed at the QB position - rest of the team played well enough to win those games. Willy had his struggles towards the end of the season, however, in the games against the RIders at home and against Hamilton he outplayed the opposing QB. You are just making crap up. He was pretty brutal in the first game against the Riders. I thought that was one of his worst games actually. Those three picks he threw were absolute killers. They hurt, However, I blame 2 out of 3 of those on the play calling and on a receiver making no effort to go to the ball. Fact of the matter is that we scored more points on offence than they did. If we could stop turning the ball over for TDs, or stop Dressler on KRs this series looks a lot different. Who gets a FG blocked for a TD? The luck was running the Riders way. Willy played well. He was not the cause of any of our defeats to the Riders. I seem to remember a cross field pick-six intended for JFG late in the first game that was the nail in the coffin. Willy threw that pass and even took responsibility for the loss.

Too Little for Ottawa in Expansion Draft?
Well worth stating twice. Ottawa was competitive in a lot of the games they lost and if not for severe bad luck probably could have had at least 3-4 more victories. The building blocks are in place and with the right QB they should do alright in another 2 years. Can't ask more from an expansion team imo.

Country is in far better Shape under Harper than it would have been otherwise. The blind hate for the scary Harper is laughable. Anyone but Harper? Let's hope he's PM for another five years at least. It's easy to say "he's better than the other guy" but please iterate all of the wonderful things Harper has done for Canada? I should state that I am apolitical not because I don't care but because I've read enough about politics to understand the business of it and essentially how all political parties are representing the same interests.

Just look at the protection Crompton gets and what Willy had. Willy behind that kind of o line has us in the playoffs. Crompton behind ours, would have been given an apple and a road map by now. A broken Willy, that's sounds like big hurt no matter who you play for. And a bandage is going to fix it either.

Jian Ghomeshi and the CBC
Probably zero of three who went to the police. Sorry I missed that detail, I was unaware that any of them went to the police. They seemed to come out of the woodwork when one decided to cooperate with the Toronto Star.

Jian Ghomeshi and the CBC
A few groupies? *shakes head* Having sex with a famous person without any semblance of a relationship, I don't know but how else can they be classified? How many endured his abuse and came back multiple times for more? .

Jian Ghomeshi and the CBC
If this is not built into a criminal case, where can it actually go though? Other than being judged by the "court of public opinion" I suspect relying on the testimony of a few groupies who failed to contact the police with physical evidence, this case will not amount to much more than a bad reputation for Ghomeshi. And the irony is that this bad reputation will only attract more women to him. No one ever said life was fair!

Argos @ Als
I don't get this criticism of Crompton, by the same people who give Willy a free pass because it's his first season. I prefer a QB that can ad-lib and doesn't have to be scripted in order to succeed. A broken play for Willy = a broken Willy.

Kyle Walters to address the media at 11AM
care to give a recap of what makes you feel that way? I didn't catch it.Well I recommend trying to listen to it. But from what I recall, he talked about how much the inability to stop the run hurt us this season. He provided stats on that too...seems like he's clearly done his homework/analysis. He suggested O'Shea knows the run D is a problem but that O'Shea protects the coaches during the season; that was part of his plan going into the season. Said figuring out the coaching staff is his and O'Shea's first priority now; to me that says there's uncertainty there. It would appear he and O'Shea are not on the same page regarding the cost of not stopping the run. While many here were saying stopping the running game was a real problem O'Shea and many others here argued that was not really a problem as in so what? Protecting the coaches? If the coaches need to be babied get a freaking shrink and let the coach to concentrate on winning games. What the heck is this? Walters knows there's a real problem with stopping the run but does not do anything because it might rattle his coach, the coach sooner loose games while protecting his coaches and so the fans are left sucking off the hind T, again. At some point some will have to stop making excuses and just admit for this year O'Shea was just not ready but might have taken the opportunity to learn. We have to hope. I think you misinterpreted Walter's explanation, he's basically saying that O'Shea knew and knows there's a problem stopping the run but would not admit so publicly in order to protect his players and his coaches. O'Shea's style is to keep everything under wraps, which may be good for the football club but pisses off fans and media alike. Much like a politician open and honest communication is just not his style.

On the contrary, I think the skies the limit for Ghomeshi. He's a fantastic interviewer and I predict he will leave Canada and find a home stateside on satellite radio ala Howard Stern, another leper.

Starting 3 Canadian receivers next season?
He also said they were close to, but didn't quite get to sign, some of the O-Line guys they had worked out. The NFL is casting a wider net on O-Linemen and CFL teams are getting squeezed more. He explained how David Fourcault, drafted by Montreal was worked out by the Panthers and is now a starting tackle for them. More teams want capable players. Yup, he admitted the scouting dept was thrown into the fire along with basically everything else last season and that was a priority to correct. Very good interview and for the first time in a long time I liked what I heard from a Bomber GM, he gets it. You can't use that phrase. O'Shea owns it.

Which Bomber Free Agents will seek greener grass?
I don't know if I'd say it was underrating Wild - 150,000 is what I'd expect to be the near top end of the pay scale for an import linebacker. Elimimian money (he's possibly going to establish a new top end on his next contract). I'd think Wild can't command a salary like that just yet. Another great season under his belt, then he's on his way up to the top end of the scale. Unfortunately Wild is a free agent this year, not next so the Bombers have but one opportunity to lock him up. It takes a little faith to pay a player forward but from what he has demonstrated in the past two years in character, effort and ability I don't think they could find a much safer gamble. Especially when they squander boatloads of cash on other experiments in failure. It would be criminal to lose him over $25,000 and be tormented for years by his performance on another team, (think green). Just imagine how long the Bombers could spend lost in the wilderness searching for their "next Ian Wild". Considering his age and promise I dispute that Wild isn't or won't soon be an elite LB as long as he's not designated as a MLB under Etch.

Standard. So far talking but not saying much... Pretty vanilla. And pretty weak vanilla at that, just another tick on the "to do" list. We probably won't hear from Kyle for another 3 months.
