Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
I think you somewhat underestimate Thorburn it what he brings to the table outside of him being a nice guy. I think where I disagree with you is I believe he's a career fourth liner that compares well with other NHL teams career fourth liners. I would love to have a team where we have 3rd line players playing fourth line but that's not realistic unless you're a team that pays right to the salary cap maximum.

Bombers sign Tori Gurley
I do. :-)

Bombers sign Tori Gurley
It was just twittered out by Darrin B that the Bombers did enough investigation on why Gurley was released that they are comfortable in signing him. Think that helps answer my question around how this will affect team chemistry.

2016 Lines
I was thinking just that to see Morrissey with Buff, to me that would be a better pairing. I would think the jury is still out on whether Morrissey is NHL ready. With Trouba MIA sure would be nice if Morrissey shines. He'll be doing a lot of covering for Buff :-)

Apparently, according to some hockey experts, there's no pressure for the Jets to be a contender this year. So that shouldn't matter. On the one hand we have people saying the Jets won't be pressured to be contenders this year but then the same people who say that insist there is pressure if they don't win. Then I'll hear the argument about being competitive versus being a contender. A loss is a loss. I think the notion that saying certain teams have no pressure to be contenders for an upcoming season is nonsensical to me imho.- Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
I see it the other way. I think we're in the drivers seat on this one. I'm not going to be pressured by a player and his agent. This is where existing depth comes into play. I have to trust my existing depth will step up and at least be manageable for my coaching staff while a deal is being sought. My interests are for my club not on a single player and his agent who don't want to be part of this organization anymore. The pressure is on them not us. The longer he sits the worse it gets for him as well. ,- Jets Training Camp Schedule & Roster
Lowry in the press box? Haven't seen any of the preseason, is he playing himself off the roster?- Drew Willy
Because it's nice to see someone who you respect be successful (except against us of course)? From what I observed, Willy seemed to always conduct himself as a professional when he was replaced. Seems like a nice guy, hope it works out for him plus probably good for the league. Nothing wrong with that.- GDT: Edmonton @ Winnipeg
At least you are up and ready to seize the day. The Jets won!- GDT: Edmonton @ Winnipeg
When we did send a blitz package, it was easily picked up. Suitor said it almost was like Mass had Richie's playbook. Is that code for you're being out coached?- general trade thread to spit ball ideas
I'm not suggesting 'this kid' is not good. Obviously he is. All I'm saying is there may be debate in where he ranks in 'one of the best' based on his current body of work in the NHL.- general trade thread to spit ball ideas
How about the NHL?- general trade thread to spit ball ideas
I think we also have to take into consideration that Trouba isn't necessarily a slam dunk when it comes to how good he and/or his agent thinks he is, no? I'd sit on this for a while, let the season unfold and see what team(s) become desperate through injury, lack of production etc.- In Case You Missed It -

Sorry you've missed the point as per my original post. I'm not suggesting the call I think should have been called is the 'right' one and the one actually called is the 'wrong' one. As I stated it comes to style and approach in how you call a defence in certain situations.- Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
While management is working on a deal, is it possible to play out an existing contract with integrity (i.e., bringing it everyday) while it's known that a change of scenery is requested? If not, why? Is it because one could risk injury? One's relationships/acceptance with their teammates makes things uncomfortable? Other? This is yet another example of how the often used and nebulous statement 'This is a business' is demonstrated in a variety, and often contradictory, ways.- Tiger-Cats @ Riders

I always find these statements weird. Of course the Jets are under pressure to be contenders. That's their job, every last one of them, coaches, management and players. The be 'realistic' argument is defeatist to me.- Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
Okay but different levels of interest.- Bombers vs Stampeders GDT
Again, disagree, there's more than one 'correct' way to play certain situations. it comes down to philosophy and style. Not all defensive coordinators are the same. All 'correct' ways can get beat. It's like being up by a goal in hockey. one 'correct' way is to tighten up defensively. another 'correct' way is too keep pressing. - Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
