  1. Part of me is okay with Buck being second. Goltz had his shot and he was pretty terrible. More learning to do there. A lot he can learn without being starter.

Looking at Fraser's list of draft picks, with the exception of Muamba, Mack has always gone for potential rather than what can help us now. Sometimes going off the board, sometimes not as much. In the end Mack needed to do more for us *right now* than look towards what a player will do for us 4 years down the line. Now I know I've argued before about it and have been told that there is no such thing as a safe draft, so I'll digress a little bit, but it also goes that it was Mack's philosophy to build our team from within and wait for players to get better, rather than going out and getting a sure thing. You can also argue that the "sure thing" 's are not always the best choice. But I think it is the attitude of the entire organization that we need to be striving to be better *right now*, and that will trickle down to the attitude's of the coaches and players as well. There needs to be a confidence among players that they have been assembled to be a Grey Cup winner, not a Grey Cup winner a couple years from now. Maybe the lack of that ideology is what is really hurting us and why a change was necessary. Also a quarterback, we need a quarterback.
  3. I have a feeling this is a precursor to a trade happening. We couldn't release Buck Pierce. We would only have two quarterbacks. So as of right now he is in a player-coach role for this team. If we are trying to wean this team off of Pierce, what are our options? We have to get another QB in fast. So either we sign a free-agent and put them on our practice roster or make a trade. If a trade gets made, Buck would have to be released at that point. I could see this happening.
  4. Yep, good example.
  5. Two good moves in one. Get Buck helping Crowton design an actual CFL offense and have Goltz run it. The former might be the move that garners the most success...
  6. Didn't think he was all that good in training camp (who did?), but he was given a lot of play time in our pre-season games. That tells me the coaches liked what they saw out of him in practice and were hoping he'd translate it into the games. With all of our veteran DBs, we couldn't keep around everybody. Now that our veteran DBs are underperforming, it's time to bring the cuts back.

Really getting tired of seeing our guys being injured constantly.

We still joke about the DBs that we had playing in that game.
  9. I think Goltz will be a good thing FOR Simpson. Pretty well every time Goltz has decided to bootleg it, he has been wide open to do so. This may open Simpson up more when teams finally try to contain Goltz.
  10. I saw this too. There were a couple times a hole opened up and he wasn't able to hit it fast enough. We definitely did not get enough out of our running game.
  11. Their offense looks as scary as ever but their defence looks like crap frankly
  12. It's not as flashy as cupcakes, but it's good work.
  13. Nothing wrong with Anderson. But he's not Matthews (different kind of threat altogether).
  14. Powers of the internet, we summon thee.
  15. There is a Live Stream link on the cable14.com website. Would try it out but am at work.
  16. Worth a shot. Sent an email.
  17. Or get Shaw to carry it for us locals?
  18. That was a fairly mundane play that got him hurt. It's too bad. He was looking great.
  19. Did anyone else think David James might have been cut? He was beat quite a bit out there.
  20. That was a weird looking boot but he did get it through. He was here to push Renaud though and couldn't beat him out.
  21. Cameron is not one of the top 2 punters. No sense keeping him on the PR. Sucks to say.
  22. That said there are definitely some good things about Carter too. To be honest, I didn't notice Kito out there a lot. Saw him once with a step on his DB, but even if the ball gets there it is questionable if he catches it. Poblah has a lot to prove to me.
  23. Saw Etienne have separation on his DB a couple times on a deep fly. A good read and throw would have resulted in a TD.
  24. Sounds like Dickenson's philosophy is to have a full time returner. Must not want Washington to play SAM (or any other DB position) because of that. He will be backup in case someone goes down though.
  25. Sometimes I think that during training camp they'll give a guy an opportunity, but if he doesn't step up he'll be one of the next cuts. Just throwing that out there.
