The Fight Thread
Afaik it's only scheduled for 6 rounds which is probably more than enough. Good luck trying to watch though. The co-main event is actually a really good fight (2 of the best female boxers in a fight of the year rematch) but I'm stuck on a black screen. ☹️ On Netflix watching other stuff or watching the fight?

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul live on Netflix tonight... Well it would be live but the amount of people tuning in has KO'd the Netflix servers.

Doesn't look like he's interested in Usports. With Dobie retiring from the Bisons, he'd be a great candidate for that spot but he confirmed he was not pursuing that job.

Saw that. He might be the only one that wants that though.

Yep, if we still have a healthy prime Biggie, there's not even a conversation to be had but that guy doesn't exist anymore.

Not saying they are wrong as I have no idea who they are but FWIW, if you search their podcast, this is how they describe themselves so I'm not sure they're entirely credible.

This is what Ben Grant (color guy for the Argos) had said when asked if it was a ratio issue or something else. Sheed was just the odd man out it would seem.

2024 CFL Awards night
And in Regina, they want to erect a statue because Mace won a game after Labour Day. I don't think any coach who has their team go on a 7 game winless streak in the middle of an 18 game season should ever have been nominated but that's just me. Might be the blue tinted glasses but MOS turning this team around, and leading them back to first place when pretty much everyone had written off a home playoff game, was more impressive (imo).

2024 CFL Awards night
Of the 2 candidates, I would have gone with Maas as well. Their final record wasn't as impressive as it should have been (downfall of locking up first place so early) but he's gotten far more out of that team, especially Fajardo, than I ever expected.

Yep. It's easy to criticize a guy like Lawler who chased the money and regretted it but the flipside is a guy like Sheed. He was loyal to the club but never made up the money he left on the table after the 2021 season, never got another ring and is (was?) now a PR player. As much as I'd love to see all our top guys back every year, I don't fault anyone for taking the money while they can.

I'm hoping that the CFLPA giving him that award was their way of saying congrats on a great career, now it's time to ride off into the sunset.

If Rigmaiden gets bumped to full GM, it might not only be Campbell out but Neil McEvoy as well. That would be their HC, 2 co-GM's & Director of Football Ops out the door. Got to imagine they'll be in cap hell for both the staff and players if they go that route - not that Doman has shown any regard for salary caps. If they don't want to take the office cap hit, they could just remove Campbell as co-GM & elevate Rigmaiden to that role. They could keep Campbell as HC for another year (contract is done after 2025 iirc), McEvoy would stay where he is. Changes coming for sure after going all in & failing to get to a home Grey Cup and changes that will impact the players (VAJ in particular) and where they go so it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes down.

I had to think who their RB even was before remembering it was Carey. Once upon a time you may have been able to make that argument but not now. 18 games played behind that "superior" OL for Carey and he only got1060 yards vs 17 games for Brady and 1353 yards - it's not even a close comparison. Brady also beat him in receiving yards so how again do they have the edge?

It's not even just one or two guys either - they all write stuff that is just dumb, contradictory or just plain hard to read. Seems to me that the CFL did in fact put out food for both the players and the media so what's the problem? https://3downnation.com/2024/11/13/the-good-the-bad-and-the-dumb-of-grey-cup-media-day/

I had to re-read that part a few times to see if I was missing something but nope, it was just terribly written. I'm still trying to figure out how Costanza, a RB coach for 1 season with us, would be a factor in him signing in Toronto. Or why New Jersey was relevant in any aspect whatsoever?

Good point. I was thinking T.O. but wasn't sure if Harris qualified as incredibly talented (Maas either for that matter).

Riders at Bombers WF GDT
Must be talking about his time in Toronto when he was behind Ray and Harris. Don't recall any other time he was on a team with 2 incredibly talented QB's?

Faj is under contract for 2025. VAJ apparently wants some say in where he goes so I wonder if Campbell does that for him (Montreal did when they sent him to BC). Smart move would be to send him east but where does he go if Hamilton sticks with BLM?
