Probably my fault but I think you are taking it way too literally. He understands the rule. He is just showing his disdain for the idea that an American can be considered Canadian. He was the biggest holdout against the rule. He knows how it works and chooses not to use it. He's just being stubborn on principle.

I don't know if Walters has ever been asked about it, but O'Shea has been asked about it on the coaches show and he says he doesn't know anything about how that rule works and he's never going to use it anyways so he hasn't bothered to learn. I'm paraphrasing because it was a year ago but that's basically his explanation. He is very clearly not interested in utilizing that rule.

There's no chance they are making a move on O'Shea or Walters right after they extended both. They're 1-1 right now. Lots of season left.

I definitely wouldn't expect Bouliane to see the field on D, he's just there to fill Smith's spot on special teams

They brought back the reserve roster this year, I believe you can have up to two players (it might only be one?) on the active roster but they don't dress for the game. Basically it's a way to keep a guy around without faking an injury or going on the PR. Vibert was on the reserve week 1.

Did anyone notice Ayers' play time in game 1? It seemed to me he was in on every play on D in the first quarter and then I never noticed him again after that. But I could absolutely be blind or mistaken. Anyone else notice?
