  1. You really think Sask would have given them a kick that was returnable? That would have just wasted time.
  2. Forde calls that a mix up on the pass blocking? I call it the perfect stunt by the Als against a slide block to the opposite side of the formation.
  3. Huge hold on a blitzer on the offensive right side by whoever the extra blocker was (Messam?) on that big play to Bagg, pretty clear in real time.
  4. Some pretty egregious holds being allowed in the first couple possessions of this half. Riders got a nice play to Getzlaf on a platter from Billy Parker, who decided to cover the paint on the field rather than a receiver in zone with his partner being taken deep by another route.
  5. Bartel has been horrible this year.
  6. Hugh Charles would have been a nice fit for us.
  7. Glenn and Burris are in the same class IMO. Never understood why they were so eager for Burris, a QB pushing 40 who still makes rookie mistakes like trying to lateral when he's being sacked. If I were them I would have been after the Willy's, Collaros' and Tate's. Have a couple guys (any of those < guys with Demarco) with some future and upside along with some CFL experience and let them battle. This team won't be good either way, at least use the wasted season(s) developing a QB.
  8. Wish our current "retro" royal blues had that colour right. Don't know why everything has to have a shiny, glossy finish. They got the helmets right though.
  9. Ottawa might want to call timeout here....
  10. Surprised Ottawa is playing such a passive defense at this point. Edmonton isn't looking to hit anything more than a few yards downfield.
  11. Edmonton really doesn't trust Reilly's arm.
  12. Burris couldn't find an OL to lateral to?
  13. No guarantee they go back to the Riders. But I think the Riders only have enough money within the salary cap to sign one not both. If so, I'd take Dressler & let Sheets go to whoever he chooses. Maybe Winnipeg? Shouldn't be too difficult, especially if they don't return until after Labour Day. They'll only get paid for the games they play, so the cap hit won't be too hard to absorb. The tough decisions would come in the off-season.
  14. He was pretty inconsistent in the pre-season for us too. Only issue was his upside because he has a huge leg that is reasonably accurate already. His punt placement is terrible too.
  15. Looks like the kid on the hockey team who had his dad sew the namebar on rather than his mom.
  16. Fraser plays if Vega can't go. Fraser was injured two weeks ago. Is he healthy now? Haven't heard and media haven't really asked about guys who aren't on the active roster, Kemp too who looked to have a serious injury.
  17. I'd like to know about our import depth at DL and LB. For instance, Wild and Kuale both went down in Toronto. It appears Kuale will be out for sure next week, but what if Wild is too? We have Kromah and nobody else at LB. I'm guessing Sears would take some of those snaps at OLB, but he's not healthy either. DL we have one extra import who is injured currently. Vega is hobbled significantly. We have no depth there. Who plays if Vega comes up lame in practice this week? We have enough DB's to fill two secondaries though.
  18. Thought he adjusted ok in Toronto. Willy hasn't played very good the last 2 weeks. Thought Willy was a bit tentative at times in Toronto. Needed to attack that D vertically when Burke kept blitzing the safety and one LB, tried a few times, but not enough. I'm sure those options were there based on what Willy read pre-snap, but he was a little gun-shy. Can't criticize run calls, our back stinks and when you're running zone blocking, you can't have a RB who waits for a 5 yard gap to make a cut. Considering the personnel limitations, our offense is ridiculously good to this point. Liked that they actually scored 7's in the redzone in Toronto too.
  19. Neither has played for Calgary. You might be thinking of Clifton Smith?
  20. They should put "pull up" on the waistband of the pants too.
  21. IMO, Montreal will be a way bigger problem for the league than Toronto in the next few years. There's actually some will to keep and house the Argos, in Montreal it will depend entirely on Wetenhall. Wetenhall has a son who's involved with the Als, so they're good for another 30 years as long as their money doesn't run out. Or once they decide they are tired of burning millions of dollars a year. Hard to bail on a team that's contending perennially for the Grey Cup, we'll see a couple years out of the playoffs and how that affects their enthusiasm to burn money.
  22. His cuts are beautiful when he has a 5 yard halo around him in all directions. Too bad that happens once every 3 weeks in football. A running back who can't fight through contact is useless to me.
  23. Bad news. Hopefully someone can catch a punt. Cotton was terrible handling punts in pre-season. We don't know about Stoudermire, but he wasn't a punt returner in college.

  25. Not at all. Higgins has been openly and publicly groveling for interviews for any personnel or coaching job that has come open for years, even when he had a job at the league office. He's been rarely interviewed for these positions and hasn't been considered a serious candidate for any of them. Now every team in the league could be wrong, or there's a reason why Higgins spent nearly a decade in exile against his wishes.
