  1. Nebraska in 1985, 1995 or even 2005 wouldn't have considered hiring someone like Mike Riley. That's my point. Back when Nebraska was a top program they would have been poaching one of the top recruiters who have turned awful programs in Mississippi into national championship contenders or someone like those guys. That program has fallen off a cliff into the abyss of mediocrity and I don't think they could even poach someone who is already in a good power conference job, which is almost unbelievable to me given the prestige of that program when I was growing up. Used to be Nebraska and Miami, now they are getting beat by Minnesota and Duke.
  2. Lately everytime I read one of Iso's posts I have a flashback to that South Park episode where Cartman takes over the school announcements, writes a book called What Happened to My School and "asks the tough questions."
  3. As much as Riley is a legend here, it says a lot about how far Nebraska has slipped that he ends up being their next coach. Oregon State haven't posted double digit wins since 2006 and have only been bowl eligible 2 out of the last 5 seasons. Extremely odd hire IMO.
  4. I have a hard time justifying $300 for my Grey Cup seat. Only way would be if the Bombers were in it, but can't plan that in advance.
  5. Here's the deal - Wally will fix his problem, not sure the Bomber Brain Trust can do the same! The offensive line has been a problem for Wally for 3 years, remember how they had to start Kabongo and the pollster for 2 years? Not much progress being made there.
  6. Austin's game management and playcalling is what cost you the game. Highly suspect pass protection ruined much. Austin haters have to go nitpicking and still need the luxury of hindsight . 1st and goal from the 2. He's also the GM, the guy who brought Brandon Stewart in to play boundary half, which loses them both playoff games without a ridiculous effort from Banks.
  7. What did he do? Missed it. Laid on the sideline crying rather than getting out there with the offense to try to win the game.
  8. After that display at the end of the game I wouldn't be surprised if Austin adds Banks' name to the CFL free agent list. Unbelievable.
  9. Grigsby LOL. First down, if he falls forward through contact he's got a TD, second down -3 yards arm tackle.
  10. Handoff to Grigbsy...Austin can't wait to see Imagine Dragons.
  11. Hamilton gonna join this game soon? I don't think special teams is going to win this one for them, Collaros has to make some plays. Calgary is picking on Stewart mercilessly. Pretty much every passing play.
  12. Wouldn't be a crazy move for the Argos. Harris looks ready, Gale is a good prospect, Ray has the worst shoulder injury possible, Desjardins is dumb so he'll overpay for sure.
  13. I don't see Dickenson and Cortez being a good fit. Dickenson will keep control of the offence when he becomes a head coach IMO, don't think Cortez would take a CFL job where he's not calling the plays.
  14. How many NI receivers lead the league in any stat? On the flip side almost all the most outstanding O-Linemen are Canadian. Getting the best player available your way isn't comparing apples to apples. A good NI O-Lineman is almost always going to be a bigger contribution than 99.9% of NI receivers. Let's face it without the NI rule there would be very few NI receiver's. Just my 2 cents, I love the CFL and the content rule I bet there'd be more Canadian receivers than linemen if there was no ratio. Most teams are already pretty equal (2-3 starting NI receivers and 2-3 starting NI OL, same amount on the roster as a whole) and moving consistently towards more Americans on both lines.
  15. Is Yantz draft eligible? Seems to me his eligibility would have passed, but maybe with the new rules.
  16. The Garcia to BC stuff is textbook Lawless/cheap rumour. Garcia played QB for Buono, won Grey Cup with Buono, therefore he is a candidate to be Buono's next head coach. It's a pretty big leap.
  17. Yep, it's an orphan Grey Cup because of Ottawa's stadium delay.
  18. Ah, the good olds days of summer.... We beat the homeless 1-7 Ticats with LeFevour at the helm. They were just a tad different than the team playing next week. But beating Calgary with Marve was awesome. Ya, they could actually score on offence with LeFevour playing. Wonder where he'll end up. Maybe BC. Don't think the Grey Cup will be a classic, Collaros is just too easy to defend.
  19. We beat both Grey Cup teams...ON THE ROAD!
  20. It's obvious that Reilly wasn't going to have a long term CFL career, but Jones is doing everything he can to expedite that process. Which brings the pocket passers vs. scramblers debate to mind... The best is the intelligent use of a QB scramble who has the pass as the usual first option, but can roll out with the option to pass or run a few times during the game. It seems to me that QBs who see themselves running as at least an equal option every play get beat up real fast. Reilly is particularly risky with the dives for extra yards, especially when he's diving and going to get hit. He can do a lot of running and scrambling without putting his body at risk as he does. Running backs don't toss themselves out prone like that, I'm not sure why some QB's think it's a good idea.
  21. Saskatchewan really should have knocked out Edmonton last week, but Chamblin won the stubbornness staredown and left Joseph in for 5 picks before he put in a QB that at least had a hope of moving the ball.
  22. Both teams had a lot of "hold" that stifled the amount of "push" either DL could get.
  23. Reilly can't throw, power comes from lower body, hard to throw when you can't set your feet and fire. They'd have a better chance of winning this game with Goltz playing QB. Braindead decision by Jones to even let Reilly play.
  24. Willis is such an idiot. Kind of guy you almost want to see blow an ACL.
