  1. Riders started this one 59 minutes late.
  2. The fact that he's their "franchise QB" is their primary problem. He's the 4th or 5th worst starting QB in his division and he's not cheap.
  3. One big change I noticed in Edmonton these past two seasons is they now have a bunch of really cheap seats and a bunch of really expensive seats. I'm not sure that's the way to move forward. Why don't I buy the cheapest season ticket and just sit wherever I want when it's 2/3 empty?
  4. Maybe a little bit this year. There's a ton of bonuses, house allowance etc.
  5. Rhymes stands straight up and doesn't brace himself at all. He made an assumption at first contact that they play was done. Not on the defender to make that assumption too. Refs need to blow whistle, everyone needs to play through. If you have the ball brace for contact or get injured.
  6. They should give certain players flags if they don't want to play through the entire play. At least everyone else knows what to do then. Like "oh I caught this ball, I'm done now" Rhymes plants his foot and drops down forward there's no issue at all. The biggest player safety issue continues to be players who aren't prepared to play a contact sport as the one receiving a tackle/hit.
  7. I don't think BC is doing anything wrong. They want to win, they'll take the guy as soon as he's cleared especially with the play of his replacements. I don't understand why Rourke personally would risk a NFL career to try to come back months earlier than anyone has from that particular surgery. Everything I know about hand and foot injuries is that regardless of how you're feeling the healing is extremely fragile and the next injury puts you right back at square one if not worse. Rourke has surgery 8 weeks ago as of mid-week this upcoming week. So he's pushing it to get back.
  8. I'd like to see a bunch of guys get reps at WIL/DE in the next game. I'm not sure why Cole doesn't get a shot. Speedy and comes violent. A few snaps as a blitzer last night. Clements is just awful, not sure why he wasn't cut after his first stint. Cooper, whether DE or WIL, even Rutledge at WIL. Also throw the German receiver on the roster instead of Machino. Get Demski out of there so he can rest up for playoffs.
  9. Our backers blitz a ton. Thought our DL looked pretty stout, backers weren't ready to clean up. Key to defending zone run is not run into the wash, force the line to be mobile opening up the gaps for the first wave to break their blocks and get a shot at the back. Clements is brutal at this, just runs right into the pile, makes it easy to block up and gives tons of space to cut back/run counters. Darby made a couple of poor reads too that opened up huge lanes, especially on the one big run. Bighill filled the last gap on the play side to force the back across field but Darby followed Bighill into the gap instead of being patient and cleaning up. Love that the 3down doofus insists that tackle was after the whistle. Clearly was not. Problem on that play was Rhymes quit immediately at the pop and then left himself prone for the finish. Extremely lazy play by Rhymes and he paid for it. Should be trying to fight himself. All I'll say about trying to fight guys post-game is that you have 60 minutes to get that violence out on the field. If you have the energy to try to go at someone post-game you're doing it wrong.
  10. Frustrating piece on the special teams coverage was no adjustment to the kicks. Like the returner is killing our cover teams, how about squibbing the ball or popping it up 15-20 yards shorter? Kinda just let it happen. Also on the long FG's we might want more of a cover crew out there. Not sure Jefferson is a good fit to cover missed FG's for instance, maybe throw Cooper or Cole out there.
  11. Imagine Rourke spends another season in the CFL at $65,000 plus incentives because he tweaks his foot and needs another surgery on it. Then in that next CFL season comes down to earth. The NFL is out the window at that point. It's all about timing, and his time to make that NFL jump is RFN.
  12. He's got more than enough on film.
  13. Yeah if he fields it standing out of bounds, even if it's bounced up in the air over the field of play I agree it's an illegal kickoff. But fielding it on the turf, one foot in, one foot out is illegal participation..."reaching back into the field of play"
  14. I honestly can't believe Rourke's agent would let him play in a competitive game 10 weeks after an injury with a 6 month timeline given his obvious shot at the NFL this off-season when he's at full health. That right there is negligent.
  15. Tricky interpretation. If he's standing on the sideline and field the ball in the air, or on a bounce, sure. He's got one foot in, one out and picks the ball off the turf in bounds. IMO that's illegal participation. Here's the relevant section bolded to emphasize the particular situation: It is illegal for a player of either team to go out of bounds, without contact with an opponent, and to reach back into or re-enter the field of play to touch or recover a loose ball.
  16. Damn Sheed should have hoofed that and Augustine hauled to grab it.
  17. A lot of rough play by Lions on that punt. Tourist hit at end, cut block on rusher by a back which is hugely illegal now.
  18. The refs botched that call. Williams can't touch the ball once he's out of bounds.
  19. Don't want to put our onside kick on film.
  20. Yeah winning a pseudo-exhibition game on missed FG's and pick sixes with no offense. Hope that Lisfranc doesn't get too tight in -20.
  21. McCrae is one of the 5 starters, 6 dressed total with Grant.
  22. Just Grant. Have an American DE who just plays special teams though.
  23. Ok we don't need the hospital balls. Put Prukop in to run option to kill the clock.
  24. Clock shouldn't be running after a defensive penalty.
