  1. The NFL cuts coming north are the guys who get clipped in mini-camp. They are already here. The guys cut out of main camp hang around. Practice rosters are expanded in the NFL, plus the second-tier leagues now. The midseason air lifts don’t happen anymore.
  2. Riders have Lauther and Vedvik. Most teams have a Global punter that's looking pretty good. Edmonton needs a placekicker.
  3. More maneuvering to come. By my count they have 6 guys left who would need a DI spot to get on the roster. Makes no difference until next season cap-wise. If they wanted the best cap value they'd have kept Liegghio doing all three jobs. The only kicker not making minimum is Castillo.
  4. Maruo is basically an end. They'll run a lot of 30 with him as a standup end.
  5. Because they ran out of kicking nets.
  6. I hope they use Lawson a lot more this season. Might help vs the run so we don't get gashed as much. Use Thomas on passing downs more.
  7. WIL, DT and DE are big concerns. As they were last year. Hoping Cole can do more than chase kicks this year, but he didn't show much in preseason. Thomas looks good at DT, but they have to get him on the roster. Not too enthusiastic about any of the rookie edge guys, need to see more of Haba. Bennett won't be much more than filler.
  8. And even 2019 and 2021 when the D was rolling it was based on depth. Jefferson especially wasn't out there every down. Jeffcoat often was when he was able to dress. But the success of that pass rush was predicated on dressing 7-8 DL. Jeffcoat, Jefferson, Kongbo, Hansen, Richardson, Nevis, Thomas was the 2019 playoff DL. Roh filled in that season when Jeffcoat was out. The depth is really lacking now.
  9. They are all on the roster.
  10. No difference to have Salima on the PR or any other American at any other position. Adjust the ratio to roster him if Oliviera is out, same as they'll have to do to roster McCrae. McCrae was no great producer in the hybrid role and they kept Amare Jones too who is similar but a better receiver. My gut tells me they have way too much faith in Augustine. He's fine as a gameday backup to another Canadian, but if we're starting him at RB that's just giving yourself a handicap.
  11. Brown had to play with Augustine too, who killed a couple drives on his own. Really should have been a Sask INT.
  12. There's no reason to even make it Brown vs Pigrome. Pigrome is going to play a bunch with the run/short-yardage set. Brown is Collaros backup, the guy practicing to run that offense if needed. If it comes down to it and one of them needs to start, there will be a lot more information available to make that decision in terms of who is the better option at that time.
  13. Ham n eggers is Rider Fans lingo. Not needed here.
  14. Which is honestly ridiculous at the league level. Post the cuts and rosters once the are submitted. Why is it up to the individual teams?
  15. 5 minutes ago Dru Brown was going to sign a $500,000 contract with someone next year and be the next great starter. Now it's Pig. Let's not all go to the Brendan Taman school of QB evaluation, keep it reasonable and give it some time.
  16. He doesn't get paid until he's on the roster. Courts in Manitoba are that far behind.
  17. 400 pound guy struggles to rehab from broken leg. Story at 11.
  18. Well, defense couldn't get off the field. I'm not sure Augustine needed a half of each game when they really need to get a look at some players.
  19. Except Streveler actually started and played consistently. Pigrome had one year as a partial starter, 2020 and last year at Towson. Streveler threw a couple hundred more passes at USD in 2 seasons than Pigrome did at 4 schools in 7 seasons, both guys were used as gadget players in mediocre Big Ten programs. This guy is raw as hell. Nice to see what we've seen, but it's real early.
  20. Kind of shitty to have guys up here for a month and give them no game reps. Barnes got in for like 30 seconds, Latulas didn't play at all. Hard to evaluate running backs with no reps when practice is basically non contact.
  21. Getting American football players work status in Canada is what CFL agents do. A criminal lawyer does not do immigration paperwork. Streveler had a pre-season game in BC where he was 10-10 for almost 200 yards. Was amazing. Different ball game too when other teams have their starters and are game planning for the unique skills of certain QB's they are expecting. Nice to know we have someone to run the short-yardage/option package.
  22. Bishop, Arbuckle and Davis aren't runners.
  23. And Pigrome likely won't come close to matching him. Some perspective I guess, Get excited for the option package but don't tear the guy to shreds as a fan base if we need him to pass.
  24. And if Pigrome ran for 900 yards and threw for 3500 he'd be ecstatic.
  25. Nah, ran a zone read ball control offense. Lots of good years with single digit INTs in era when TD/INT ratio under 2-1 wasn't uncommon. Good player, not great player. In the Kevin Glenn realm, just no longevity as a runner. Busted his leg, done.
