  1. Or alternatively, and equally hilarious, Fajardo has a degree of success in Montreal and people realize that it was just impossible for him to do anything other than stink in that Rider team.
  2. Well that's just awful.
  3. What do you reckon Kevin Glenn made when they shared a locker room? It couldn't have been more than $300...
  4. Was it not pretty much universally accepted that Milt was well north of $200k? In his MOP-Calibre years where he'd have commanded that, there were QBs making in that range. I don't think it's worth discussion really. The assertion that sometimes overpaying can be worth it was true in his (rare) case.
  5. His name was Milt and you guys seemed to be just fine with paying him (what was at the time) money on par with quarterbacks.
  6. Yeah... I want to stick up for him... But I realized that he may be in for a year of utter futility and there's not going to be anything on the field making him look anywhere near a frontline player. Which, on his day, he absolutely is.
  7. It's... beautiful. And the shitty cropping just adds to the sadness! Sir this undoubtedly will become the face of the Riders online. Everyone: save this file. Apply liberally.
  8. It's the going rate for a frontline CFL starter. Harris at 500 isn't a bargain, but it isn't outrageous.
  9. I'll post it here because it seems like the appropriate thread for it: Someone with computer-art skills needs to put a Riders logo on @Bubba Zanetti's "Sad Sack" picture post from yesterday. ...edit... Behold! By the powers vested in me as your own (rarely) humble Double Blue Prophet, I do hereby Decree, Sanction and Declare that this JPEG, forged by the Combined Might and Silliness of @Bubba Zanetti & @MOBomberFan shall henceforth be emblematic of all things Saskatchewan Rough Riders and it shall stay as thus unless and until such a time as they are restored to at least a 10 Win Season. All Hail the Sad Sack Sask JPEG!
  10. As an aside: I wish to register my disappointment that nobody has taken @Bubba Zanetti's "sad sack" cartoon from yesterday and done a credible job of putting a SaskRR logo on it. If it's done well, that's a meme that has potential to be around for years...
  11. That is just a really bad take. Like, almost 180 degrees from reality. Impressive.
  12. It's almost as if, after a thoroughly disappointing season, the thought of hitting reset and beginning a new project from the ground up (football operations, coaching, players) wasn't even an option that anyone considered. Like, putting a big contract on a QB who'll be 37 when TC opens, and a big name defender in the hopes of chasing a 7 win season is a plan worth having. I'd be furious.
  13. Most players can only dream of going to a city where the team's play by play announcer regularly insults you.
  14. He was getting the dumptruck wherever he chose.
  15. He may have gotten paid like mad for all we know. And he seemed happy to play his football where he is, no surprise that he'd re-up here. Now if we can just get another couple of announcements done...
  16. My preference is that we get the same MBT that played in our final two games prior to the GC (and I'm more sure than not that he's our QB1 this year). That being said, consistency has not always been a word you'd associate with him. Kelly knows that his time is soon. Football is a rough sport and Bethel-Thompson is 34.
  17. I don't have any info on this. But I'd guess that the deal has been made. There's an utter lack of panic, speculation or urgency going on around here. We've a couple more high profile FAs who likely will get their press releases over the next several days and then McLeod will be last. My best guess anyhow.
  18. You reckon that he'd reach out to the Argos to inform them that he has decided to play this year, but maybe not for them? Seems weirdly passive aggressive.
  19. https://www.cfl.ca/2023/02/06/steinbergs-mmqb-here-come-the-champs/ Lalji is saying that McLeod Bethel-Thompson is back.
  20. Recent history certainly points to that. I like our roster though. Particularly our strength in our National players. Usually I have quite a few bones to pick with where we are at this point in the off season. Feeling pretty good about things this year (and pehaps that ought to be setting alarm bells off!) (And we're only obscure to the Sports Media in Southern Ontario) He may become one. He certainly has a set of brass ones - got to like that in a QB.
  21. I like how we're going about our off-season business. A few more days of announcements and then they can drop the news about who is playing QB for us this season.
