2022/2023 Off-Season (League/Non-Bombers-specific News)
It's been apparent since the Cats got BLM that Evans and his contract were not in their plans. Hamilton can't keep him. And now we have confirmation (likely days after The Argo's GM-By-Committee had it) that MBT isn't back and we have a Starting Quarterback sized space in our salary structure. Seems like it will happen. I've had fellow Argo supporters decrying to me over the last several weeks how "classless" Hamilton is for not releasing him when they know darn well that he isn't going to be a Ti-Cat this year. I disagree. Even though it'd be a nice gesture for their former player to be given this time to figure out his future (and many teams do this for the player as a matter of course), it is Stein's job to figure out a way of DeThroning the Argos. He is under no obligation to release a player that can help us a day before he has to. But who knows? Perhaps they bow to what now seems to be inevitable and agree to release Evans for a late rounder... better to get something rather than nothing and end up with the same ultimate result.

Not a chance that they'd risk him getting a 2023 playbook to give us. This happens before TC but after any meaningful onboarding that would usually have occurred.

They can't/won't keep Evans. Likely they've suspected that MBT wasn't returning and didn't want to release Evans so he could immediately drive up the QEW to us. They'll hold him as long as they can.

With McLeod, we were the presumptive favorites to win the East. Now, we may have the best overall roster, but without a proven QB1 we're in a fight.

A last small reminder about my tailgate party with the Grey Cup on Monday for anyone in the GTA East. It's gotten a bit out of control. Up to 140 people, 5 cooks and Molson has donated 8 cases and a local microbrewery another 6 cases. If you're interested, please PM me. (And if you come, you're very welcome to wear your team colours)

Trevor Haris after the 2015 Season: So on one hand you can go to Ottawa and win a Cup... Or on the other hand.... Yeah, tough call...

2022/2023 Off-Season (League/Non-Bombers-specific News)
I didn't infer it. I implied it. But more correctly, I only stated that on the day of November 20, 2022, that Ryan Dinwiddie outcoached and out adjusted Michael MF'ing O'Shea. Because it is true. It happened and we all watched it. But like I also said, I'd far rather have Osh than Dinwiddie. And I was very critical of RD and frankly didn't think that he had it in him. Respectfully, I never did that. And I take a lot of **** here and generally don't rise to it. Hell... I had months of opportunities to stick it right back at a few Richards who have taken every chance they've had to vent their Toronto hatred on me... never did it once. You ought to see my block list. But the "Fluke" narrative had to die. And I've spoken my piece on that now, so I'll drop it.

Reasonably certain that never happened. And if anyone feels like it did, they may be a bit fragile for online sports discussion. Coddled? lol

They didn't have any more of them that the Argos did. Brain farts like missing your punt coverage assignments at a crucial point in a championship game and allowing the longest PR for TD in GC history? Like missing 4 INTs? Like having a starting QB lay a total egg with a 50% game? It only seems like a fluke because of the hilariously improbable back and forth at the end of the game. Had it gone the other way, you might feel differently about it being a fluke. That 4th quarter... mental. "The longest punt return in Grey Cup history. A missed conversion attempt. A starting quarterback being forced to leave with a thumb injury. An interception. A rookie QB rushing for 20 yards on a second and 15 to prolong a drive. A huge punt return. A second touchdown of the game for a man who had been cut earlier in the season. A second interception. A blocked field goal attempt. A second consecutive sack by a player, only to be overturned by a penalty for face masking. A second blocked field goal attempt, this one by the player called for face masking just four plays earlier. All of this happened in a 15-minute span of a championship game. It was gut punch after gut punch, each team trading what would have normally would have been knockout punches against a lesser opponent. It wasn’t until Robbie Smith’s field goal block that the game’s final blow was landed. It was a ridiculous amount of mammoth emotional swings in an exceptionally small period of time. I will admit, when Greg Ellingson caught a pass in front of the Argo bench my heart sank. The Bombers were in field goal range and I was only thinking about the possibility of a field goal miss; the thought of another blocked field goal honestly never entered my mind, despite having witnessed two blocks in the Western/Laval game the day before. When Robbie blocked the kick I immediately looked up at the clock and started doing the math. We had just won the Grey Cup, but it didn’t immediately sink in. Even when Chad Kelly took a knee to end the game, it still didn’t seem real." I'll always remember this one because we'll neve see another GC end like that.

Me either. I'd rather Osh came home. In fact, I was never really satisfied by Dinwiddie all season long. But he shut me up in November. Fair play to him.

On balance, I agree completely. But that does nothing to erase the fact that on the day of November 20, 2022, Ryan Dinwiddie outcoached and out adjusted Mike O'Shea by a mile.

A fluke... Fine. Have it your way. The only fluke was that the Bombers didn't get killed in their 1 point loss. I haven't seen anyone hereabouts mention that until we finally got that first Interception that four other ones before that went through Argonaut fingers and would've sealed the day. We were more physical. That is never a fluke. And to my everlasting amazement, Ryan Dinwiddie embarrassed O'Shea. That all happened and the only luck was that it wasn't a multiple score Argo win. 7-0.

Recent history suggests that is more likely to happen than not. Our last 3 attempts at defending our Championship were pretty poor.
