  1. At 72 years old and the setup of assistant GMs they have beneath him, Lou is only there as a figure head, to give advice and mentorship and to make sure the younger assistants don't go too far off the tracks. At that age he isn't going to be putting in the hours that other GMs around the league do.

  3. There is no toolbar in the mobile theme. You have to either go to the bottom of the webpage and click Full Version or go old school and use IMG tags. For the tags, you basically paste your image URL between these two tags: [ img ] [ /img ] (But take out the spaces between the brackets and the words)

It is an interesting article, and I’m with you, I prefer less government interference than more. I think in the end, people who use these services in the way they are intended are fine, but there will always be those who push the boundaries from two people “sharing” to a commercial venture. And if that starts happening too much, the government will definitely step in. They will say it is because of safety and a level playing field, and that might be part of it but you would have to wonder if it is also about unclaimed taxable revenue.

Glen Johnson doesn't make the rules. He is also not the one who decides how the rules are to be enforced.Refs get their weekly feedback from him on how to apply the rules. The Rules Committee and BoG tell Johnson how they want the rules interpreted. It's not his or the officials' fault if they do that and penalties go up. Johnson cannot change the way they are to be interpreted unilaterally.Actually yes he can because day to day throughout the season, he's the authority. He isn't going to unilaterally decide to overturn rule changes that the BOG implemented 4 weeks into the season. That is over stepping his authority. I know but interpretations can be quite "flexible". The rule changes were a big off season push from the league. Glenn Johnson isn't going to decide on his own that they should be applied more "flexible" unless the commissioner directs him to. He is doing what he was told to. And he isn't the one that can "decide" to change it.

  7. Ladd just needs to sign a reasonable extension now!

20 years ago maybe but Cole is an old man now and can't keep up with the play, he spends most of the games now hoping that he is sitting in the pie. Yeah Cole is so past his prime, it's not even funny. He's got to retire. Sadly, whichever yahoo who replaces him won't be any better. It's just disgusting. You might be pleasantly surprised to hear Jets Tsn TV feed guy Dennis Beyak announce a game. He has done some Olympic broadcasts as well. The TSN Radio Jets guys Brian Munz and Paul Edmonds are good, very good. But for football, I'm totally comfortable with Knuckles. Big fan of Edmonds, I wish he would do the TV play by play for the Jets. Beyak is better suited to a national telecast though. He has that non partisan "classic" play by play voice. Edmonds is great with his lines and when he gets excited. Works best when you are doing play by play for a targeted "home" team.
  9. 1) Find a GIF out there on the internet somewhere. If you are making your own, then you will have to upload it to a site first. Lots of sites out there will let you upload pictures and link to them for free. 2) Right click on the picture and choose copy URL 3) Start a new post and choose the image button in the toolbar (look like a picture) and paste the URL in the box that pops up.
  10. Completely different team last year, not really fair to lump the two together. It is cherry picking numbers. So far, this is a 2 – 2 team. Different DC, different players. Overall, MOS is a 9 – 13 head coach. Not great, but still too early IMO to pull anything from that.
  11. The NHL is asking for a $10 Million down payment just to be considered, and $2 million of that is not refundable. At that price you really aren't going to be getting any "tire kicker" bids.
  12. The return of the Jets has definitely affected interest in the Bombers as well. With the Jets being away for so long, the interest and fandom that it attracted was huge. I’m sure Bomber merchandise sales have taken a hit since the Jets came back. For a long time the Bombers were the only real “big” game in town (who really likes the Goldeyes?). No matter how bad the team got there wasn't much else to follow. Now there is major competition in the Winnipeg sports scene and the Bombers really need to up their game. If the Bombers aren't playing well come Labour Day, interest will shift to NHL training camps and all the promises and hope of a sports season about to start.

He is for sure better than Black but I don't like Suitor on non Rider games either. I like Dunigan when he does colour.
  14. It is easy in hindsight to say that the MTS centre should have been built with a larger capacity, but it was no small feat to get the thing built in the first place. The save the Eaton's group, the land, the funding. The footprint that they built the building on makes it a challenge to make the building bigger. They should have closed a lane on each side of the building to enlarge the footprint. Good luck selling that on downtown streets. And while True North had the foresight to check to make sure that the building was large enough to house an NHL team should it become available one day, there really wasn't much chance of the NHL coming back when that building was built. It was built for the Moose.
  15. It's funny. I heard Rod interviewed on TSN 1290 during the morning show earlier this week. He actually sounds normal and intelligent ... was a decent interview. It is too bad he has developed this play by play persona of his ... sometimes I think he has become a caricature of himself.

  17. With the season ending in Nov it would not really be needed. I just know in January I'd rather be in the FargoDome then IGF. And they only built it for 60m which was pretty good for the time. How many events are there in January that can't be held in MTS Centre? IMO the dome isn't worth the extra cost it would have incurred.
  18. No way I'd want a dome here. Nothing beats sitting outside for summer football. Who wants to go sit inside when it is 30 degrees outside. Not worth giving that up for a few extra events. Even love the cold weather games in the fall.
  19. Section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms would disagree with you.

Oduya (aka Pizza Boy) signs in Dallas $3.75M cap hit over 2 years. Dallas has done quite a bit to improve this off season with the recent trade for Sharp. You look at these none playoff teams in the Jets conference: Los Angelas Dallas Colorado San Jose Edmonton Arizona And the Jets will be in tough to make the playoffs again next year. I'd say any of those teams with the exception of maybe Arizona has a legitimate chance of making the playoffs (not saying they all will, but wouldn't surprise me if any of them did). Vancouver / Calgary / Winnipeg may be teams that could drop out of the playoffs next year. Going to be a dog fight from start to finish. A lot of parity in the league right now.
  21. For sure implications. Kesler is also 1 year older. Kessler though is a centre and a pretty decent face-off man. That should make his value higher than Ladd's. I still think Ladd's camp is looking for 6 - 6.5M with similar term to Kesler.
  22. Public nudity is "banned". To me banned means you can be fined or arrested for it.

  24. None of us here are in a position to tell a lot of people what to do. It doesn't preclude you from having an opinion on it or discussing it. If we were only going to discuss things that we could actually affect, I might as well just shut this message board down. Coaches don't really listen to our opinions on football. I believe that we should look at these discussions and opinions we have on the deep south and do some self reflection on pre-conceived notions or things that we simply accept in our own society.
