- Brohm to start LDC?
I understand why with Nichols having little time in the offense. But Brohm has to be on a very short leash. If he is bouncing balls into the turf again, he has to be pulled.- Bombers Trade for Matt Nichols

Merits of that trade aside, after making that trade, are you playing Chiarot as our #1 LHD next year or a rookie in Hanifin? And we would still have a bottle neck of RHD.- A Comprehensive Review of Kyle Walters
Very interesting and thought provoking post. Well done. I don’t think you give Walters enough credit for the things he did right. Most of the things he has done right you basically say were gifted to him and anyone in his position would have done it. He did it, he gets credit plain and simple. Same for Hajrullahu. We didn’t get him because every other team was set at kicker, we got him because of Walters. If another team though he was worth it, he would have been put on a PR. I also don’t find it equitable to compare the number of starters that Mack found vs. Walters. Mack had 4 years to build his crew, Walters has had 2 (not including his partial season). Here was the Bomber roster after Mack had it for 2 years https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Winnipeg_Blue_Bombers_season I can’t remember every player he brought in vs those he inherited, but as far as counting starters, I don’t think it is that far off from where Walters is. However I also don't know if Mack is the bar you want to measure a GM against. Walters took over the GM job in 2013, but that was mid-season and most of the work for GMs and scouts happen before or just as this regime took place. He didn’t put his scouting staff in place until during the 2013 off season. That is too late too really make a difference for 2014. The one interesting piece of information I took from that Ken Moll video that was posted was that all your scouting and recruiting you do, doesn’t pay-off until a year or two later after a player exhausts all NFL hope. I'd like to know what kind of scouting "lists' the current regime brought in with them. You give Walters credit for Justin Veltung, Jace Daniels, Khalil Bass, Johnny Adams, Bruce Johnson, Moe Leggett & Cam Marshall yet when you compare to talent other teams (like the DL) have found you compare to the whole league, not a single GM. That isn't quite fair either. You bring up some interesting points on the draft, but I don’t think a draft can be fully critiqued until two or three years after the fact. Jury is out on those IMO. Walters record is definitely a sore spot as you point out and 12 – 27 is not acceptable. This team had a lot of work to be done when he took over, and it still has a lot more to be done. The product on the field is not entertaining. The import scouting has definitely been under whelming. We have competent players, but I don't see a super star. Other then Willy, this team is missing a superstar. Ask yourself what name you would get on a jersey if you bought one tomorrow? There ain't a lot to pick from. There is no doubt the honeymoon with Walters is over and his teams have to start producing and producing fast. Unless a proven GM becomes available (say a Huff, Austing, or Buono - and who know if Buono at 65 still has the drive in him), which isn't going to happen, then I think he is safe for at least one more year. If we get to this point next year and have a similar record, and a similar product on the field, I think he is gone. I will put one more caveat on that last statement. I think this organization is at a crossroads right now. This team has been so bad for so long, people are getting to the point where they just don’t care anymore. A lot of fans are past anger and they are into apathy, and that is a dangerous thing. I see it in posts on this board, I heard it in conversations walking away from the stadium last game, and I even feel it myself. People don't expect this team to win, they aren't entertained at the games, and I wonder how long before they stop showing up at the gate and decide to buy Moose tickets instead of Bomber tickets. If season tickets drop drastically in the offseason (under 20k) then all bets are off and we are into the lows of Jeff Reinbold territory. The question is who would be our Dave Ritchie to turn it around….- 2015 NHL Draft And Trade Rumours

I thought I heard Marve say on the CJOB post game show that the game had slowed down for him this week compared to his last game. I hope it slows down a whole lot more for him. Seems to me that after the first pick he threw he was afraid to throw more then 5 - 10 yards. I don't know if this was his decision making or the game plan he was trying to stick to but he rarely threw 5+ yards. With the field position we were starting most drives, that is just too many mistake free plays you have to complete to drive the field. And the defence starts cheating up if they aren't afraid of you going long, which takes away the play or any chance of yac yards. The few times he did throw longer, for the most part he was off the mark of throwing a pick.- Fast Forwarding / Skipping games on PVR
At least you can fast forward. I'm getting tired of sitting in IGF knowing we have absolutely no chance of winning and having those thoughts confirmed by the end of the first half. There have been a far disportionate amount of games in that stadium where that has been the case. I'll still be there live for the rest of this year and of course next year and going forward, but this franchise is going to start having a problem selling season tickets and filling the stands if they keep putting this kind of product on the field. At this point I would be happy if I could watch a game where we are competitive and in the game until the end, even if we end up losing.... I miss going to games and expecting the Bombers to win.- Brawl in Ravens Redskins Preseason Game
Check out this tackle that caused a brawl in an NFL preseason game. The receiver is picked up and driven head first into the ground. Horribly dangerous tackle. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000517896/article/steve-smith-chris-culliver-ejected-after-fight- Ken Moll Lecture On CFL Recruiting
Isn't this true of any scout / GM relationship? Or any superior / direct report? If you can't convince your boss of something you want, he/she over rules you.- Week 10 Pick 'Ems
Interesting start to the week. Only Mr Dee had the foresight to know that Montreal would win tonight.- Jets Remove Scoreboard
Here is a concept picture of the new scoreclock. You can see that Jets logo in the middle of it. I guess with flat screen technology what it is today, you don't need the space inside the score clock.- August 23 practice report
- Offensive Line Rankings
I was wondering if those numbers were based on the gross number of successful conversions, or % of successful conversions. Using percentages for a number of those categories would make more sense than the raw numbers.- Mike Richards on waivers
I also wonder how much he had on him. Would they go through this whole process if he only had a small amount, like a single prescription / pill container on him. I don't know how "picky" the border officers are and if they would be more lenient once they saw who he was and how much of a spotlight on it (ie just confiscate them). If they are as hard to get as you say, maybe it is easier to get them down south and Mike was bringing a supply back with him to last him through the off season.- August 23 practice report

I would love to read your rationale behind this statement to be honest. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, I just want to know why you are saying that before I decide if you're out of your mind or have some validity to it. I was actually thinking about this the other day.... Other then a game against Tor that SK lost by 25 points and a game against Edm they lost by 10 points, 2 of their losses have been by 4 points, 3 losses by 3 points, and 1 loss by 2 points. For a team that lost both their #1 and #2 QBs a couple of games in the season, to be a field goal away from 4 more possible wins / ties isn't bad. The Bombers had Willy for most of the season, and even with Willy, the Bombers losses have been by 26, 1, 29, 30, 7 points. While the Bombers wins have been by 4, 2, and 10 points. I know it is tough to look purely at the score to compare the two because the score dictates so many decisions in the 4th quarter, but a couple of plays going the other way and the Bombers could easily be 0 - 8 right now while SK could have 2 - 3 wins. QBing is now a wash between both teams (unproven rookies with maybe an edge to SK for having a bit more experience). Then consider how many blowouts the Bombers have lost in (with Willy) and how many games in which we were done by half time, and the games coming up against SK aren't guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination. SK has been in most of their games with a chance to win right up to the end of the game. The Bombers have lost 3 blowouts where there was no chance for a comeback in the 4th quarter and some games by the 3rd quarter. I wouldn't at all be surprised if we lose both games against SK. Then again maybe I'm just getting conditioned to the Bombers losing over the past number of seasons.- Week 10 Pick 'Ems
Deadline for picks this week is Thursday at 6PM. Picks can be made here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=games&pid=6&wid=80 Current Leader board can be seen here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=leaderboard&pid=6&wid=79 Blueandgold went 4 for 4 last week and increased his hold on 1st place and is now 2 picks ahead of 2nd place with 25 correct picks. There is a 3-way tie for 2nd place between Atomic, LeBird, and saskbluefan, all with 23 correct picks. Still a log jam of people with 22 and 21 correct picks that can move up the leader board.- Next year's line up?
If the Jets really want to trade Buff and a contending team is offering enough in return, the Jets could easily absorb a few million of his salary for this year to get the other team under the cup. Buff's contract is up after this year so they only need to fit that under the cap next year. It would be a team who thinks they are missing that one piece to make a push next year and not necessarily intent on re-signing Buff after next year. That is why a trade like this isn't the easiest to make. Limited teams to make it with. - Brohm to start LDC?
