Agree, though Lawson if 100% or close to it is head and shoulders better than Jake or shmek. Plus never know, Jake might finally miss games.

it does make a lot of sense that buck would be super high on him. Hogan is very much a buck disciple. Bourgoin was a Paul guy going back to the 90s. under rated doesn’t mean most outstanding. Bourgoin and Marty are oft talked about. Hogan is a really young fresh/green coach. He’s got 4 years coaching offensive positions in the pros. But it is important to remember, buck didn’t bring hogan over. He did bring Bourgoin. I haven’t seen any thing regarding access to him being requested, granted and him interviewing for an oc job. I have a hard time believing that he was a serious candidate for any one. the limited media coverage where it the narrowed down candidates were listed, bomber site article on the broad candidates, plus the 3dn/cfl.ca all didn’t have him as a high level candidate and had Bourgoin /marty. I’ve never heard any one put a fraction of the reverence on hogan that Marty gets. He’s widely regarded as the best ol coach in the league and over due for a promotion. The only positive stuff I’ve seen or heard about hogan is from Brady. Well and herb. He loves hogan. But he holds hogan in high regard in general as a football mind as he was around him coaching D as much as O. all that said, hogan might do really well. Just as buck took Paul’s system 2 steps forward (then one or two back last year) hogan might bring much of the same offence with Some good quality of life improvements. Or he might be like a bad photo copy. We will get a good idea quickly this year. I’m hoping for the best, that’s he’s one of those young brilliant offensive minds who moves up fast. If those two can feed off each other then it will be spectacular. That might have been what slowed down the process honestly. They might’ve had hogan working with Jackson and other guys (internal and otherwise) to figure out if they were compatible together and if that fit would work here. Hope that’s what it was any way.

You’re looking at his listed gdr weight not apparently we paid him 285 to bring him back, down from what edm paid him. The market has been going down steadily but more so after he signed here.

That sucks. Hopefully he’s back to his former self for camp. Really like this deal though. Has our prototypical size, but way more athletic than the WRs we usually bring in. Extremely quick, very good top end speed, great jumper. Has the hands too. The high reward low risk team friendly guy id hoped for. Don’t need to be married to him if we get a great rookie. And he will push the rookies in camp really hard for the last spot.

Still for a Canadian that’s bananas. Not as crazy as fords deal cus he is a good edge rusher but damn. How do you compete with half a million tied up between those two? Should’ve been more than Lawson but under 180k imo Only Dobson has moved which is really odd

Football all over has opened up to smaller faster pass rushers both in hybrids and ends. No peyton Logan?

I don’t see it the same way, for what ever it’s worth. He barely clung to realistically being qb 3. Dukes was not good at all, stepped in late and wasn’t better. I don’t think we would’ve won with arbuckle honestly. I don’t think we’d a won if zach was 100% the whole game. We had our asses handed to us in terms of coaching and execution. I think it would’ve taken some thing much larger for us to win. People look at the game being close on the score board until it wasn’t. But the play on the field was slanted for longer. I don’t think arbuckle has become any thing more or less than he’s always been.

Buck took him after our search for oc replacement was under way. If we wanted Bourgoin we’d a kept him. But yes if buck wanted hogan over Bourgoin he would’ve got hogan.

Could be. But we’ve never been good at attracted or bringing in WRs from free agency in general. Kenny on his return is the only time we’ve paid one competitively in recent history. Also, zach has a tendency to throw hospital passes. Here they are “handled internally” *TM Mike Kelly

That’s a good question, impossible to know though. Would love to have that answer.

How do you find that move? He played the gc the way he had to. I wouldn’t want him though.

Every reference size is small with hogan. He’s got 2 years of being an oc ast in college and an oc qc once. How exactly has hogan been around and worked his way up? He may well prove to be a worth while hire. But with out question he is taking a huge career leap forward and is by far the least experienced co in the league. Both at his position and in the league/pros. It would seem we made the active choice of him over bourgoin, Jackson, Marty, lapo etc. I’m really interested to see what kind of offence he runs.

Not even close. Marty and Bourgoin are highly regarded coaches like Jy. Jy would’ve gotten a dc job else where, we had calls about him and had to move him up to keep him. Bourgoin got that call and took it, we didn’t match. Marty is high on that list now league wide.

This is a head scratcher. I don’t get point hogan over Marty. This is a hyper young Jump. Bourgoin would’ve made more sense too. Putting him over Jackson is even stranger. If you’re that big a believer in hogan, make him ast the oc under Jackson and develop him. This is a giant leap for hogan. I think he’s spent 2 years as an OC at the college or higher level in his coaching career. He’s spent as much time as a defensive assistant. Maybe hogan is one of these young brilliant offensive football minds. I’ll be very happy if that’s true. We will see soon enough. Should be Kelly. I’m not holding my breath on globals. We went from top of the charts finding talent there to after thought. Very good question.

Except for the players in the league. That’s who you really make it on time for. better not be a Hallett involved

I love the athlete as a NI especially, and the play making skill you cant teach. But yeah, just cant build around a DB making crazy money. I think DL could be better, 2nd de was awful. Less jake more lawson. Wr we were soo hurt and with out a proper no1 for soo long it all depends on schoen tbh. I think we will be stronger at the bottom of the core weaker at the top. But maybe more consistent. I think that is likely. Though I am hoping we continue to fill en battled spots with league vets to push rookies at. I agree. I think it suits us well. We need a big score from some place, but that could well be recruitment and development. Schmek is flat lined, and jake is a year older and slower. How doe jake getting older not cause regression? It isn't significant but it is a thing. Talent has seldom been the issue here.

I believe our strategy is that we cant improve the team enough with what star players we can afford, so instead of chasing top guys to replace ford/lawler, we are chasing our weakest import positions to improve the weakest chains instead of adding new strongest chains.

He was, Toronto beat us still inside out across the board. Toronto also doesn’t use heads up rushes on the line. Which is why they destroyed all our ol men with every dl they threw out on the field. I can find hope that he improved his ability to improve red zone play call, check downs, and maybe the abundance of out think himself plays/constant trick plays. But I don’t think he will have figured out how to use a mobile qb with out having run an offence with one. Dare or dream but that’s a worst case combination imo.

Randolph is a tackle, he should swap with Lofton who isn’t a T. But Wallace is key. If he takes a step forward, he will easily pass where Dobson was last year. Honestly we won’t be going 3 imp ol now. We are kinda looking locked in on nis now. I’d still love to see Wallace get a pre season game at rt. If he continued to lose weight this off season he should be more than mobile enough.

Better not be if lapo is the oc. Lapo get Masoli, strev with any one else is fine.

He was excellent after 4 ish games or so. He’s a strong starter, but he lacks the consistency. And at that he hasn’t shown nearly enough road grader mentality. If his first punch move doesn’t pancake a guy he just kinda leans. He’s good at reading a guys lean then striking them off balance, but guys with a strong base just aren’t unbalanced much at the pro level.

Honestly we allow it in certain circumstances already. Down field when a scrum forms, and in the red zone it happens frequently. Most red zone sneaks that don’t go up the middle end up being tush push. And I say that knowing full well we have been the biggest offender when it comes to down field scrums.

He wasn’t and I’ve firmly been in the other boat and I’m still not broken up about losing him for a premium pay day. You just can’t go around paying Canadians elite money on potential from a partial good season. Simply not the case. Lawler is a big loss for the 4-6 strong games a year he puts up, not for the 1-3 invisible games and the half season un able to play. Love the talent, not much else.
