Sterns is like Kelvin mcknight. But the type of athlete you need to be at his size. Great agility, good quickness, stronger than you'd expect. I think he might really excel in the slot with the right usage. He doesn't have the straight acceleration of an elite athlete from a stand still, so if he gets really good with the waggle he could be deadly. Floor is a rich mans Mcknight, ceiling is a decent version of weston dressler. (though it takes a lot of none measurables to be what dressler was in this league.) I really like this move actually, should be really cheap, will really push the rookies and the last starting import. I think going more veteran guys capable of starting than you have jobs is what we need with the approach we are taking to free agency. I like it too, he isn't Snead, but he is for sure in that mold. Snead for me has that 1 step acceleration and change of direction ability.

off season mode for the forum. Both threats interchange roles at random times lol. Strevy is a good question. If it isn't him I think we will bring in another vet qb, as long as they are willing to play for a reasonable contract. Generally, we bring 5 qbs for rookie camp / start of TC. You require a lot of passes to all those wrs, and don't want to burn out the 1/2. So I expect 1 rookie, and strev/league vet.

It has, we cycled through guys expecting a never-ending stretch of dominant imp DTs. Until after sayles we just brought in far fewer guys of a lower tier. We reinvented what wasn't broken. Samson should certainly get a good shot at it. But we should've brought Hubert back too. The only hope is that the upper-level mafia pushes quality over favoritism and that the exodus of other guys puts us in a position where things change.

I hope youre right. If jake is the 6/7th DL and rotating in for under 10 ish snaps a game including short yardage, I think our DL will be pretty good this year. Much better than last.

For sure. I mean, it couldn't have gotten worse lol. But it did improve whole sale mid to late. Zach, the ol, the wrs. The ol got healthy ish and meshed together, we got rid of most of the wr dead weight, and zach finally rounded back into qb1 form.

Line play won us 2 grey cups. Fans look at the QB, and understandably so. But both lines are as critical as the QB is. The main way of winning games in every league from college to the pros is protecting the QB, and limiting the other qbs time to throw. The ends were as big an issue as jake last year, mainly the end opposite willy. But willy coasted for long stretches and shuts down vs double teams. Plus he was a huge liability in the run game. Thats true. I don't expect jake to take the majority of snaps any more. But I wouldn't; be surprised if he does either. We ran out the 2 NI DL look on 30 and 40 fronts wayy too much last year. Part of me is worried we will start jake and rotate lawson with woods.

Yep as did the wrs and zach. Basically just brady up to par. The ends struggled with speed the inside struggled to get in the way, we struggled a great deal with health and turn over on the ol. And health was a huge issue with the wrs. Lots of times wrs running the wrong routes breaking the wrong way etc.

2 years ago he got pressured and hit a ton too. But like bob wiley said when he held court with our media years ago, sacks pressure and hits arent all on the OL. Zachs in-ability to get the ball out clean/quick creates those. Zachs unwillingness to take what a D gives him and force deep shots creates them. And yeah, the OL being the worst he's played behind in years creates those problems too. As does Bucks game plan and lack of adjustments. Basically every thing that can cause pocket collapse, did last year. Except for brady blocking, who as always worked his ass off and did a tremendous job. And as some one said, zach doesn't deal well when he's pressured. The last 2 years we've seen more frustration, and anger at his own team then maybe ever. I think we could be any where from the bottom of the top tier, to the dumpster. I think our floor is higher and our ceiling is lower than last year. But that we will likely be better in the wr core this year, than last year. Sure could use another big rookie wr find.

did you watch him play off the ball last year? He seriously could barely get to the OL before the ball was out more times than I could count. I don't think you understand how critical giving up a free man advantage is in both the run game and pass rush. In our system we NEED to get pressure with 3-4 guys. No one can get pressure with 2 guys actually getting into the rush, and 3 guys requires a lot of work, game planning and talent. In our split field drop 6 package, a 40 front with jake on it means with the RB, every other guy gets double-teamed. (and every team was running chip and release at least on us.) So the C might have to chip jake late, but opens hard with the G on woods. WJ gets straight double teamed on his side by G and T full time. Then the end on the other side gets chipped deep into the tackles wheel house but the RB. No pass rusher in this league today can consistently win a double team and create pressure. If you watch the highlights of him you see a ton of the C shading towards him, and chipping the other DT first. You see him being steered and contacting 2 ol on some plays, usually when the ball is already out. If your NT doesn't have the C moving backwards, or have his hands on 2 ol keeping them off the 3T by the time the QB has the ball and is looking at his first read, your NT has lost the battle. Maybe he can get back in on the play if the coverage forces the QB to progress and wait for an opening or timing on another route. But its like going into the 4th quarter down more than a TD. Getting the odd fg in that situation is not bad, but it isn't what you need to win. In the run game teams like to slide away from jake, and read willy. Which is a nightmare for us to try and maintain run fits. Gauthier but 4-5 years younger. Real good pick up for STs and depth. But you don't want him starting or rotating heavily.

It is no longer a luxury to have a good back up who can come in and win games. It is a necessity. His arm was definitely diminished last year, especially early on. It seemed like he fought the ball coming out of his hand all year though. We saw a crazy amount of short to intermediate-depth tosses going low and behind, at the shoes, or just sailing way high into the hospital region for wrs. He's never been a guy who was great at check downs, or leading his receiver into more yac yards. But he probably bounced more screen passes into the ground last year than in his whole career. I firmly believe some thing is/was buggered up bad in his hand/wrist. He's had soo many hand injuries from following through and hitting guys helmets etc in the last 2 seasons. Sailing balls is a sign of trying to rush the ball out on a screen, but tossing em in the dirt is a classic sign of struggling to get the ball out cleanly. He's always been prone to chucking and forcing it down field. But last year was the worst year since he left sask for him in terms of reading the D and being read by the D. Defences all over had a field day reading his eyes and jumping routes.

I’m always hesitant to watch mos media stuff for this reason. The best interview I’ve seen from us since the gc week is paddy when he re signed. Im sure it’s real hard for mos to admit these guys have had it and move on. I bet he has an itch to bring back biggie still.

Not in remotely recent times. Dave Ritchie here, buono and the Don once or twice. Those 3 kinds had floating guys who would join them if they changed teams. I was thinking maybe Augustine, but I’d say that’s kinda low percentage. Strevy and the remains of luckys career I can’t see. I could see either in Hamilton tho lol. Strevy will have a job as qb3, short yardage, holder, gimmick guy for as long as he wants. Dom Davis is still kicking around in that role. And poopkup too. Neither of whom is better than the average linemen at throwing the ball. Edmonton could be a sleeper pick. Calgary as well, maybe Montreal. Here is clearly the favorite though. The rest of the league is kind of a long shot.

Demskis deal is a combination of things that aren’t his or the teams fault to be honest. He didn’t decide to stop using the jet motion, or make our 1/2 hurt most of the year. He looked like a Canadian 1/2 under those guys and looked like he was trending up. He didn’t even drop off as a pass catcher. The rest of his game drop off could be age, injuries his and others, usage etc. but he isn’t a wr 1. And now the market has crashed. It happens in other sports more, he’s one of the few here. Zach, is in a position where we paid him basically the most you can pay a qb in the cfl and still be competitive. He was a mop who could carry the team on signing it. Best qb in the league by a mile. Now he’s no longer consistently top tier, possibly due to age/system/injuries/ surrounding talent. Similar to Demski. But Zach was badly rusty to start last year took a long time to get ready and didn’t handle the adversity the way a mop elite qb needs to. Both could have career years this year. I could see a good bounce back from both if hogan runs a good system. I like some of the changes in weapons we have. And hope our ol will improve, I think it should be mid season form last year or better to start the year. At this point we don’t have ways to spend that money better. imagine though, if we moved off both. And used that money on mbt/vaj, ceresna, and beard. Which group makes the team better for the same money? My bet is hands down the 3. I think this has to be the last year we pay them a combined 830,000$. Below average performance because we had the worst performing dl in the league, who they didn’t take.

Ted effect. I don’t think any one would’ve thought he’d grab way more than buck. That too is interesting. Buck hasn’t added any of our guys (as of yet.) I wonder if part of his piss poor performance last year, coming down etc involved not getting the kinds of pieces he wanted.

funny the usual impression around here I get is a group of old guys in a retirement home. Ones yelling at the burned out light for being too bright. A few are yelling at the kids for playing on their lawn. Ones staring at a nurse drooling. Another is yelling at the tv for not being loud enough, and most of the guys are rewatching the same old game on tv thinking it’s live. I feel like the youngest guy here is probably 30.

Fox showed plenty well in very limited reps. Adam’s hit the wall hard late. It really boils down to one ni spot, woods at the other, and adams brings tons more versatility than fox. He’s an upside guy and not as good a player as fox but he can play basically any role in the Dl you want. A DL of; Wj Lawson woods vaughters with adams as a di, then Jake plus one other ni dl isn’t some thing I’d be too mad at. We could really use a strong rotational global/ni pass rusher ideally one who can rush from 3 tech, 4i and 5 in both fronts. And if that guy replaced Jake we’d be in a pretty good spot.

Truth and had a hell of a time putting together back to back strong performances. But wasn’t it just declared by some one that Haba Garbutt fox would disappear and get no further looks? 🙃 boy this is probably the most guys we’ve lost year to year in a decade. A ton of our young guys have been scooped at every level of development. It’ll be really interesting to see how Hogan is going to run this offence. We’ve added a TON of dynamic quick/fast guys to the offence. Reggie white, Dillion Mitchell, and Peyton Logan in for Wilson, lawler and lucky. White schoen Demski Mitchell and big kev with Brady and a sub pack involving Logan gives us a tremendous new set of options. That makes us much better at stretching the field side line to side line and deep then we saw most all of last year.

We had a rb he trusted who was tearing it up. But still gave up on the run game with it close.

True. Means you shouldn’t get duis, and sure as heck should have your passport sorted in a timely fashion. And shouldn’t disappear for weeks at a time on the field. Lawler helps you win games, some times. Excellent talent. Feel like when he retires you’ll lack back at what he accomplished and say, that’s it? Lawlers huge moments are as big as Milts in terms of impressiveness. But not in terms of those plays winning us games.

Maybe they can use some of this new revenue to track stats properly and on time. Nah, probably not. I wonder if the coach's cap is also going up. The league could certainly use that growth.

Demski, he’s our craziest deal along with zach. But yeah slowly getting rid of bad deals.
