Posted May 10, 20169 yr comment_195615 Just come through the grapevine. Snooze you lose Jets. Guessing here but someone must have got good health news. Edited May 10, 20169 yr by FrostyWinnipeg
May 10, 20169 yr comment_195617 Well doesnt change things too much for the Jets. It doesnt surprise me if what I heard was the issue is correct. Didnt seem like something that desperately required him being here...But maybe revisit it when his contract is up...
May 10, 20169 yr comment_195618 If Edm couldn't get a deal done last season then the price must have been ridiculous...
May 10, 20169 yr comment_195621 Reports around here were Isles wanted Trouba. So just as well. All things being equal, I'd have traded Myers for Hamonic. But this isnt a net negative for the Jets. We're the same. And now the issue is removed.

May 10, 20169 yr comment_195629 LOL at the people saying Jets and/or Oilers "missed the boat" on a trade. We can't say for sure either team made an offer, or what was proposed. Id chaulk it up to Hamonic perhaps rectifying a situation at home and/or the Isles winning a round this year. As TUP said, no big loss for the Jets. Now focus efforts on another vet D via trade or free agency.
May 10, 20169 yr comment_195636 He loves "being and Islander, more than anything" ... watch him get shipped out during the draft
May 10, 20169 yr comment_195638 Just mean the Jets and Isles couldn't reach a deal. Despite what some may say... it was WPG or NYI all along. Edmonton was never an option for Hamonic Edited May 10, 20169 yr by Goalie
May 10, 20169 yr comment_195641 The nature of the reason he wanted to be here could have changed. It was something that, having dealt with it while playing in New York all season, he might have realised it could take care of it without being here.
May 10, 20169 yr comment_195643 This morning Hamonic said the request was due to the health of an extremely close family member. That situation has since stabilized so he's able to rescind the trade request.

The way I heard it, that was part of the situation but there were other complications. None of which seemed to me to be something he couldnt deal with while playing in New York. But apparently he is a big family man and it was important for him to be here to help out. I wouldnt be surprised if the Jets have a convo with him in three years
May 10, 20169 yr comment_195698 How much can a hockey player really help when he's on the road half of the season?
May 10, 20169 yr Author comment_195701 Closer to home. His family still lives in Steinbach unless someone is @ WPG hospital.
May 11, 20169 yr comment_195756 St Malo actually and it's 40 minutes from here. That's pretty Damn close. Hamonic actually lives in wpg during the off season
May 11, 20169 yr comment_195766 I don't think we have the right to question why he should or shouldn't play here or how many games he plays on the road. Thankfully, things are better for his family now.
May 11, 20169 yr comment_195768 Rescinding a trade request does not mean he stays with the NYI. It means he's not pushing openly for a trade. It doesn't mean Garth isn't shopping him.
