Posted August 26, 201311 yr comment_17688 BUCK UP Burke was happy with quarterback Buck Pierce's play on Saturday, even though he completed only 12 of 20 attempts for 92 yards and one interception that Dee Webb returned for a touchdown. "I wish he could take away the interception," Burke said. "Other than that he scrambled around and kept our plays alive. I was unhappy when he got hurt and he was out, I'll put it that way." Pierce gave way to Justin Goltz after three quarters due to an upper-body injury, although he also appeared to be limping on his left leg. It marked the 29th time in Pierce's career he had to leave a game due to injury.
August 26, 201311 yr comment_17693 I think Pierce really turned the corner in this game. Into a Hamilton defender
August 26, 201311 yr comment_17694 In fairness, if Buck could take back all his ints and trade them for TD's he would be pretty impressive. Also, if I was cooler in High School I probably could have kissed a girl. Its a game of inches really.
August 26, 201311 yr comment_17695 92 yards in three quarters, 7 pts, despite something like 4 drives starting at our 45 or better and Burke was happy? Reason number 8475 to fire Burke.
August 26, 201311 yr comment_17701 and people think we should keep Burke for the rest of the season...
August 26, 201311 yr comment_17704 And here I was giving credit to the coaches when Buck was replaced by Goltz. No way it entered my mind he might be injured.
August 27, 201311 yr comment_17723 Troy Westwood @TroyWestwood 25 Aug In tracking Pierce's plays yesterday, in his 20 pass attempts he only twice had reasonable time available in the pocket. I love how people treat the game like it's so simple, when they really just do not have a clue.

August 27, 201311 yr comment_17733 Man, this has just reached the point of hilarity now. The root of the problem this year...? Somehow guys like Elliott, Logan, Hef, Bowman, etc etc etc are all expendable because of injury or maybe they 'lost a step'... yet, Buck just gets worse and worse and worse and yet we NEVER call him out in the media and just keep going back to the well... The sad thing about this is that we've probably lost whatever potential Goltz had... Burke essentially tossed him under the bus again

Can't be hard on buck he's a good guy, can't be hard on burke, he's a good guy. Joe Mack though? What an ass, rip him to pieces even after he's been fired.
August 27, 201311 yr comment_17741 I have less and less respect for Burke as an HC every day that passes. Honestly....did he really say those things? Certainly blame to go around but Buck was brutal on Saturday...even by his standards.

August 27, 201311 yr comment_17747 According to Burke, Buck is on the cusp of being a Hall of Fame QB.

August 27, 201311 yr comment_17753 Does Burke have dementia? Was he on the sidelines physically & his mind in a garden with pretty flowers, little birdies & butterflies fluttering around. Like he was happy with Buck's play???? Wow. Clueless is too nice to describe what I think of Burke.
August 27, 201311 yr comment_17757 How long has he been saying that if guys don't perform they'll be gone? How many non injury related moves has he made? Time to stop saying that and actually doing something about it. No wonder the team isn't listening, they know there's no consequences and it's just a lot of hot air.
August 27, 201311 yr comment_17760 And here we thought Burke was this old school, hard ass disciplinarian when he first got the job. In reality, he's soft. Were we ever wrong.
August 27, 201311 yr comment_17762 In fairness to Buck he was under siege for most of the game... HOWEVER many of those plays he hung onto the ball way to long. He definitely needed to do his Kevin Glenn impression and make some quick passes to help suppress the massive blitzes. Burke needs to choose his words more wisely.... I wouldn't be happy with less then 100 yards unless the rb was running for over 200....
August 27, 201311 yr comment_17763 Brandon, you just said a key point, Buck was underseige but on many of those plays he held the ball too long. That's a huge part of the problem.
August 27, 201311 yr comment_17764 He's underseige all the time because he does nothing to make the other team stop blitzing. Hit a few big plays on em and they'll stop sending the house. Now do we have guys in the right place to take advantage of that? You gotta think that all those professional coaches we have recognize what's going on and put guys in positions to counter it right? right?
