Stupid decision yes, but he's got more talent in his little finger than Tebow or Leaf. I highly doubt he did it unprovoked. It doesn't excuse his actions but who here hasn't reacted poorly when someone has gotten under our skin. I know I have regrets when I was 21. That's life. He'll learn.

Johnny Football's on an international stage & being paid millions so he can't afford to act like most 21 year olds because even he knows he's not like most 21 year olds. As far as being more talented than the other 2 qbs mentioned, I'd say definitly more than Tebow but not as much as Leaf. Leaf was a big, strong qb who could make all the throws. He was just a complete moron & headcase. He still is to this day. The money & fame went to Leaf's head just like it seems to be doing to Manziel. Par-tay.

Ryan Leaf was capable of making all the throws until he hurt himself in his second season when he tore the labrum in his throwing shoulder. It's a hell of an injury to come back from for anybody that puts their arm through what a quarterback does, or even a baseball player for example. Not sure how familiar you are with Brandon Webb but it finished his career. Jeff Francis went through the same injury and has tried to regain his form but never did. Same with Chris Young.

Yes Leaf was a headcase, but to write his failures off as 100 per cent fame and money is simply not correct. Ontop of that, to imply that the money is getting to Manziel's head is off base too. His family is VERY wealthy. Being rich is not something that's new to him. Manziel will be fine, critics be damned.

Jonathan Manziel is further behind most of the quarterbacks who get drafted and go on to play in the league. Way behind. I have my doubts that he will put in the time and effort to make things work.

It was easy at A&M. He had an all-star offensive line, a Top 5 pick at receiver. Just ran around and make something happen.

His career has started the exact way that all his pundits figured it would.

Made into a big deal by the endless requirement of US sports media for a new hero,

for something to rant and rave about 24 hours a day. Every year, it's someone.

did you see the  picture of him with folding money rolled up into a tube, In some bathroom?

what's that for?

He never huddled in college or high school, I heard yesterday during the game.

just take the ball, chuck it up, or run.

I predict he will not learn to be a quarterback in the NFL.

If he even survives one season. He might be getting hit a lot.

It used to be NCAA got qbs ready to play at the NFL level. Now, they run the no huddle spread offense... Not only do qbs not know how to call plays in the huddle they also don't know how to do 3, 5 & 7 step drops taking the snap from center. Four years of running plays out of the gun...  The NFL does so much more.

He's not NFL ready yet and won't be for a long time.  Going to a team that desperately needs a saviour might be the worst thing that could have happened to him.  3 years sitting on the bench absorbing and learning without any need to save a coach's job is the best chance he has for success.  If crazy Jerry Jones had actually drafted him behind Romo, who knows, that might have been the best thing for everyone.

But after Cleveland ruins his career, just as the factory of sadness tends to do with all quarterbacks, maybe he'll land a backup job on a team with a real QB and get a chance to start from scratch.  It takes a pretty mature person to rebuild a career after it goes up in flames which he does not appear to be (and everything in Cleveland goes up in flames), so my guess is his time in Cleveland will be as glorious as it gets for him.  Which is not very.

Or he wins the offensive MVP this year.  Who knows.

Manziel is average at best.  Give him a few years behind someone else and he may turn into something better.  This is just another "stick some NCAA guy in the limelight and herald him as the next Johnny Unitas" crap that the NFL does every year.  Then at the end of the season, these guys are being traded to another team because they didn't meet expectations.

Guess we'll see, Mr. Perfect. I think it's  safe to say Manziel has a lot of growing up to  do.

Absolutely he does. You can't be doing that to the opposing bench, but at the same time, you need to have that brash confidence that he does, it's what makes him who he is. With the upcoming suspension to Josh Gordon, there is no way Manziel should be starting, you need to give a rookie QB weapons (something all the recent successful rookie QB's have had, and the not so successful ones have not had). Jordan Cameron is a great football player but you can't count on him alone to help Manziel along. I have A LOT of confidence that Manziel will pan out. He has all the physical tools to do it. Yes the attitude rubs some people the wrong way but that's life. Not everyone is going to be a choir boy.
