I’d bet my weight in gold that if asked about the CFL, our former Prime Minister (now a "statesperson," according to Google) would tilt his head, raise his eyebrows, and gaze wistfully into the distance before reminiscing about that moment at Exhibition Stadium. He’d recall Tony Gabriel’s iconic Grey Cup-winning touchdown catch—how, without hesitation, Gabriel ran straight to young Justin, just five years old and only beginning to grasp that destiny had marked him for greatness. Handing him the ball, Gabriel would have told him that one day, he would grow into a great man, a protector of women and the disadvantaged across this great nation…

And the worst move is to continue sitting waiting for a D1 deal with a big chunk of NIL, which seems to be what he keeps doing. Semi pro and CFL would allow him to still be drafted into the NFL. 52 minutes ago, bluto said: I’d bet my weight in gold that if asked about the CFL, our former Prime Minister (now a "statesperson," according to Google) would tilt his head, raise his eyebrows, and gaze wistfully into the distance before reminiscing about that moment at Exhibition Stadium. Europe seems to often have really really old cfl coaches It's probably a pretty good gig with little or no pressure. Housing, transportation & food allowance built into his salary during the season. Some teams have more money than others. Or are in better divisions & can give better deals to North American players & coaches. Calgarian Chris Merchant, Western Ontario QB, Hec Creighton winner & Vanier Cup champ went to play in Europe after his dream of playing in the CFL ended & he won at least two championships in Italy & Hungary as a qb. My son considered playing in Europe in 2016 but decided not to as he was engaged & didn't want to be separated from his fiance. He could have went over for four or 5 months but ultimately felt that it wasn't for him. I also knew a former legendary head coach in Portland, OR high school football who retired 25 years ago as one of the winningest high school head coaches in the state. He was coaxed out of retirement at age 65 to coach in Europe. He coached in Germany, Hungary, Italy & other countries. Every year for well over a decade. Some places he was a HC, others a coordinator or just a position coach. He said he loved it, He didn't get rich coaching in Europe but he was comfortable with just about everything paid for. He did it until his mid to late 70's when his health gave out & he had to return home. Yeah, a few older coaches did coach over there. I know Ray Jauch coached in Europe & I think Rita has also been there before. There have been other former CFL coaches who went to Europe as well. As long as their health allows them to contribute, I say good for them. Edited March 19Mar 19 by SpeedFlex27
March 20Mar 20 comment_747683 Rita is 77, 78 in September. Then again wasn't Rod Rust 125 when he was our DC?

It would be considered semi pro over level here as players on a team have vastly different experience levels. Coaching there would have a bit of pressure but not a lot. For some of these older guys it's a holiday. They bring their wives with them, travel around when they're off & they try to live the lifestyle Europe provides them. That's why the former Portand head coach kept coming back. Edited March 20Mar 20 by SpeedFlex27
March 20Mar 20 comment_747685 Europe is great. Had the chance to go a couple years ago to visit the sister in England and we decided to go to a few other places like Paris Rome greece as well as Denmark and the Baltics (ancestors from there). If I couldn’t live in Canada I’d live in Europe. It’s cool as ****. lol.

D i c k LeBeau, one of the greatest defensive coordinators of all time coached full time in the NFL until he was 80 years old. His last position with Tennessee, he was DC & Asst HC with the Titans. Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo is 65, HC Pete Carroll with the Raiders is 74. Romeo Crennel was 73 when he was Interim HC in Houston during the 2020 season. Bill Belichek is 72 years old as HC at North Carolina. Yeah, it's rare but if a coach can still do it & do it well then I think it's great. No need to mock anyone.
