Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -Al

  • Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler …

Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

I have full faith that Walters is still going to make his move yet. Let everyone blow their wad early on shiny objects and he'll still come out a winner in the end. A bunch of under the radar signings that, when it's all said and done, look pretty damn good.

I mean you can’t really dress this up to look good, we’re getting picked pretty clean in a few areas

… if only we had some of that depth a few of us have been complaining about for years. This is exactly why the practice roster is so important and exactly why it’s so frustrating we don’t use it properly

we’ve lost a receiver, a middle linebacker (good riddance), a left guard, a safety (hopefully) and a corner and we genuinely have maybe at best, a sort of educated guess as to who will replace two of them.

Hollins or Dunbar … I mean, there are definitely worse options.

there are definitely some negatives to what is happening right now but let’s not lose sight of the positives. At least we haven’t signed Alexander yet

I would have preferred him over you know who...has way more value......And yes Hollins and Dunbar have experience and we know they c play....but neither should have been a target....of the 2...Dunbar please...and I know we have some differing views but man I dont see the plan yet....Maybe it was a case of guys not wanting to come here too....watching from the outside last few yrs of what went on here via how Osh makes his roster and reps allocated and they said thanks...but no thanks....Of all the guys who have agreed to deals elsewhere...or re-upped...I have a hard time thinking we didnt approach any of them

well must be a really low radar...as for where we needed bigtime help and the easy fix via free agency...theres just scrap heaping left..

like I said...we have allowed our roster to erode it's depth away....have had no forward thinking grooming anyone of worth....and have clung to an aged roster far too long...and now we are really in a pinch...we just may have to go with a real green team...we have done nothing in FA of any real marquee value other than getting Logan...and possibly Jones....for a desired destination thats pretty bad man

I agree. Let the Hervey's and Goveia's spend like drunken sailors and make reasonable offers to who is left without competition.

This^

Wonder if they are seriously looking at Kelly at safety or american. Either way Walters and Danny Mac seems to be able to find DBs so no worries there.

who's left that fills a gaping need for us that was better than what we had?....

There is a ton of talent available. Go to the FA listings. Better than what we had? Such as who? Lawler's 800 yards last year? Haba and Garbutt's nothing....what exactly are you concerned about replacing? We effectively swapped Lawler for Schoen....that's a win in my books. Brought in Mitchell for Wilson....saw off....Vaughters for Haba/Garbutt....win for us. What has your **** in a bunch? You are so consumed with the JT resigning that you are not looking at the whole picture imo. It's kind of crazy because the one massive loss we took this offseason in Ford is the one you seem least concerned about.

How so? You are entitled to your opinion of course but just what are you basing it on?

because you’re giving the keys to the offense to a guy who has only ever had the keys to a high school offense and one of his assistants was the key figure in a major offensive turnaround just last season … I can’t imagine that goes well

our defensive backfield is already solid with Holm..Bonds...Nichols.Parker..Griffin..Kelly..Bridges....and we have already signed some solid new prospects...dline and LB was the concern....LB may be okay...dline is worse

no there's not....average talent maybe....legit difference maker's that automatically make your roster better are mostly gone...I not talking about receiver either...and no we didnt swap one for the other...we had both last yr...and again...Schoen is a bit of an unknown...he's not a sure thing to be ready right outta the gate...and if he is...may not be what he was for a good portion

Can't just overpay to plug gaps.

no ****....but whats the point plugging a gap with basically the same or worse than what you had....and who's to say it was an over pay or would have been....have basically seen no numbers for most theyguys who agreed....so we cant say that we passed because they cost too much...thats just speculating
