Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -Al

  • Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler …

Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

Cobb is fine if he can play a role on special teams, covering and blocking too.  If they have an illusion he'll be a player on O I'd be a little weary.  Like you need to sign/draft another Canadian receiver who can play this year.  You basically flip Augustine into him and Logan is your backup RB/returner instead of a receiver/returner.

I like Nield that the Argos just cut.  Kind of a Wolitarsky style guy, maybe -4 savvy but +2 athleticism.

Paul LaPolice Chapter Four: Coming to the CFL in the spring of 2025.

Funny thing is, I think this will be the most anticipated of his returns here. Despite how things ended last time. I love the guy, he an excellent football mind, I hope he comes in openminded and willing to evolve his system further. Maybe let Zach call the red zone plays lol.

He would also take up the missing WR coach gig, but I think we need to get a qb coach.

whos the last db you saw that was 170 lbs or under 175?

I mean we have one on our roster right now, We also have parker who is under 180 and holm who in reality is maybe 175. Jake kelly has a couple pounds of change in his pockets for his 180 as well. Gassama at wr is 158 and wilson was 175 at wr as well.

For most guys, being 175 plus or minus 5lbs and under 5'10 is similar in terms of make up to being 6' and 185-190.

Blocking comes from effort and grit. Not from size. Especially on teams.

I’m not sure why people are even remotely worried about our work in free agency … Dillon Mitchell and Jonathan Jones are both real big pieces in my eyes,

Yeah Walters has done some solid signings... You don't use free agency to build your entire team, you use it to fill specific positions and trust your scouting staff to fill in the rest.

None of those guys are less that 175, Wilson didn't cover kicks, and during his time in edm Cobb didn't either. Gassama certainly won't. the aver db is 175-185, let alone those who are on kick coverage.

I’m not sure why people are even remotely worried about our work in free agency … Dillon Mitchell and Jonathan Jones are both real big pieces in my eyes, Schoen brought back is a huge win, almost every valuable OL is still out there for now and we’re doing a decent job of picking up some depth where we need it.

Jones is a real solid signing...Mitchell is ok...has potential for sure....but has never been a 1000 yard guy and is he a guy that can carry a team when need be? Schoen I am glas is back, but he also is a big unknown right now...who knows how he gonna respond after his injury...so unless we sign another big time guy....we could be conceivably weaker at receiver this yr

At Dline,....Yaeh Thomas pisses me off as he is pointless....and just blocks development of a younger Canadian another yr, or takes reps from an import guy who is better.....You can all say maybe osh just gonna use him as a few snaps a game rotation guy ...well if that was the case why bother...save the 100k plus money and just use Samson or a draft pick there on entry level....Lawson shouldnt be sharing reps with or back seat to any national dt we roster...Vaughters is good signing but we also need a legit 3rd end too to make it work and a more than capable 4th guy to rotate....as it stands right now we have neither...Not saying Garbutt or Haba would be world beaters here but as many chime in here....expect a loss for every rookie...which is a load of **** anyway but you get my point....we gonna roster 2 brand new new guys?....no experience?....I do think Person's is gonna rip it up but that still leaves us exposed at end if WJ or Vaughters goes down and from what  I see left in the FA pool now there isnt much left that would be better than what we had and likely will cost more...same at DT...Woods and Adams are legit prospects and yr 2 should show more....fly in ointment are they gonna be back seat to Jake and Schmeck again?...there were some pieces to be had that choose to go elsewhere...if we offered comparable money as to where they went....wouldn't they have wanted to come here as we are the desired place??...I dont think we even really gave a legit offer to any of them, so curious as to who and what we are targeting for defence.

Holm is, and so is the other db on our roster that I listed. Fun fact, there are also 8 players in the NFL under 167 lbs.

Holm is listed as 180 and if they are exaggerating then likely Cobb is as well. Im not saying there isnt room for undersized players just not on kick coverage unless they are truly exceptional

And blink was listed at the same 171 for his entire career, and maybe once weighed it. Holm listed as 180 in college and came in 171 on his pro day.

If any thing, teams players are and can be smaller. You have far less big bodies on the field for kick and punt return/cover. Only kick block team has the heavy base.

Last year the league saw 8 dbs under 170 lbs. If youre a back up db in this league, you are playing teams too.

The NFL isn't stuck on arbitrary size limits any more, and the cfl hasn't been for a long long time.

Nield would be a great third NI WR imo

Lawler is looking to see what market is so Walters knows the range, and likely will stay if its a reasonable and fair offer if it's a bit less...A low ball tho and he be gone...and dont blame him....or anyone for that matter

So why can't someone, ANYONE outbid the Bombers for Fatboi? Please?
