Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -Al

  • Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler …

Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

Nasty could be just that, labelling people he didn't like as 'vermin' BUT every once in awhile he'd come out with a nugget when describing certain teams managers as Vice Presidents of Standing Around.....Morris dug himself a hole in many teams books and their sites and was banned quite regularly.....Quite a persona was he, that usually ended up being 'persona non grata'

Nate was an interesting guy in real life. I thought I heard he owned a store in Osborne village. Perhaps a collectibles type store.  Say what you want but atleast his questions on the call in shows made sense.  One of a kind tho. Really. Nate should be inducted into the blue bombers online forums hall of fame. MBB hall of fame honarary inductee.

Pokey to the Jets

****!  Invest an entire year developing a guy just to watch him walk out the door!  Start again, but find a cost effective vet. this time.

I know it stings but honestly bringing in good young players on rookie deals is what gives teams flexibility with the cap. I’d rather find the next pokey then over pay for a vet.

Wheatfall and Clercius will have a year under their belt and they're still on their ELC's, that's close enough to rookies

Insane to me that a guy like Wilson gets a shot based on his CFL resume which was pretty meh (if I was going to Madden rank him as a CFL player he’d be about 80 with some unrealized potential) but a guy like Schoen can’t get a legit shot.  Even Lawler although there might be some emotional regulation analysis attached to him.

I get age…although if you get 1-2 good years out of a UDFA guy you’ve done pretty good.

Schoen is also the ideal kind of tweener slot receiver/tight end guy.

Wilson doesn’t really have size or speed going for him at pro level.  Can win in man, started to understand his job better with more time with Collaros as a rookie.

He’s getting a shot with the Jets though…. They aren’t exactly known for making the best decisions.

I mean, this is good for the CFL

We still have his rights if he comes back this season

Schoen had plenty of opportunity down south. Some guys just don't fit. He's not a NFL wr. That's not to say he's a bad WR just that he doesn't have what NFL teams look for when it comes to that position. He's been unbelievable in the CFL partly due to his use of the waggle. Wilson does to a certain extent. But I'm willing to bet we see him in 2025 in Blue and Gold.

Anyone really think he'll last down there or he's nothing more than training camp fodder for the Jets? I think he'll be back but we'll have to sign him as other CFL teams will jump when he's cut.

Agree 1000%. I feel like Wilson is an over achiever. Which isn’t a bad thing, but I don’t think he has another step to take in progression.

Clercius is a guy I really want to see take a step. If he does he could be a big win for us.
Really good at a lot of the little things, catches every thing, and I don’t think Demski has a lot of high level play left in him.

Wilson had almost as much chance down south as schoen had, before Wilson got this deal. Wilson now is gonna have more opportunity.
That’s just not true. The nfl has seen many guys in the last decade with the same skill set and athleticism as schoen or worse who succeeded at a high level. The rams alone have been using the Cooper kupp/ puka nacua inside and out over the past several years in the exact same ways we use schoen, with the same skill set and athleticism.

I mean it’s the jets. They’re the TCF of the nfl in the first place.
I think that’s how it’ll go down. We’ve seen a few fringe guys up here at wr get nfl deals kick around back n forth and change teams up here. I don’t see some one lining up to give up 200k or close to it.

Aren't we all?

Not to the point of harassing people like Lyle Bauer in the way that he did which became very, very personal.. At first, it may have been amusing. Then it became strange like he was obsessed with Bauer. Nate has been banned almost everywhere on CFL social media. I think Nate has a couple of screws loose inside his head.

Schoen doesn't have the quickness like those guys. He's close, but in that environment close isnt good enough. I'm not saying he wouldn't succeed in the NFL, I'm just saying i understand why he isn't in the NFL.

He's injury prone up here on the larger CFL field. He'd be in the infirmary most of the season with the close confines of an NFL field. The NFL is much more physical because the receivers don't have the room they have in the CFL.
