Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -Al

  • Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler …

Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

Bang on.....Mike O has a lot of faith in players of his ilk.....tough as nails and 'never say quit' kinda of guys....only thing is he has a blind spot for players who have too many miles on them and seems to be expecting a 'miracle'....Biggie was a great signing for us and he has played his heart out BUT when it's time ....it's time.....I'm sure he knows/sees  that, even if his head coach can't or won't

shouldnt all the players u roster have never say quit in them..and be tough...athletic...versatile....and if not...why they on roster?...call me crazy but in my coaching tenure/experience, thts how we rolled....yhou eraned a spot in camp....and then had to maintain/keep it in season...be it if you were a rookie...2 yr guy..10 yr guy....nothing was handed to you with zero competition, and if you were not performing at the best compete level....u saw the bench or inactive roster.....or bought a bus ticket...

Bourgoin, Charbonneau, McDiarmid and Young we're all Bombers coaches, at least at one point, right? Buck loading up a decent staff...

that staff does not inspire me....Good luck Buck

I think Jackson is the guy...and best option...he's been around a bit but worked with a lot of people....and like Younger has some innovative ideas

He has the knowhow and actual sense to use skill sets to get the best out of players...if he was here last yr he would have utilized Whitehead...Demski and likely MCI to an extent to help open things up elsewhere...I could also have seen Brown stick on roster and become a nice piece....

So how long into the new year do we wait for the call on the new OC.....Ranks are getting thin out there as far as CFL availabilities....Would be nice to get an inkling about the direction we're heading....Jackson looks  to be the best option........the wheels are slowly turning when it comes to this hire, but I guess it's more important to get it right

How long into the new year before they do anything at all? OC, player personnel dept,  re-signings. Feels pretty directionless.

Out of that huge FA list, Bryant signed (who wasn’t realistically going anywhere else) Tony Jones, Sergio and a couple of jobbers.

FA is a month away so they’ve got some time but tbh it seems like they’re flying by the seat of their pants more so than other years.

They must be making some roster management changes...perhaps consulting the database.

The way some folks talk no signings should be good news right

Exactly the same people would complaining about bringing back vets and status quo. I love this. Not to say some of our guys won’t be back but gotta take a long hard look at some of these players and hopefully be more active in FA

The fact that we haven't hired an OC coupled with the lack of signing news is concerning. On the plus side, they haven't brought back Jake or Biggie.

Now that you have written this I see the in near future headline now.

Veteran presence back in the fold. Bombers are all in and bring back two important pieces for another run at the Cup.

Just to clarify... We don't actually know what has or hadn't been done. Only what's been (or not been) announced. It's at least POSSIBLE that much has been done behind the scenes.

Maybe, but we at least for sure know we didn’t do anything else with our 2024 cap. Those contracts wouldn’t need to have been announced by the club, but they would have needed to have been filed with the league before Jan 1 and nothing was

If we don’t have our front office and coaching staff vacancies filled before February 11th, it’s gonna look bad and hurt us in free agency. Both retention and attracting free agents. And it is no longer enough for us just to retain most of our fre agents. We need to be adding pieces again.

Says who? Exactly? The pundits on here? or?

Reality says it. Being half staffed says it. Mos and Walters even talked about how it was just the two of them doing the end season surf because of un certainty up front.
You know the role assistant gms and COs play in free agency right? Or franchise stability with established vets.
It’s been discussed previously in years where teams have failed to lock in their front office and staff and those off seasons for other teams have been catastrophic.  From here, to local and national media.

Based on the way Kyle phrased it during his post-season presser, it didn't sound like they had a whole lot of room in the 2024 cap left.  He said they were going to check down the penny how much they had & use it on a signing bonus for somebody (singular).  Stanley got a signing bonus as part of his deal so they may have spent it all right there.

Walters himself said it affects who they may want to bring back or go after in FA.  He was asked about next years roster and he said they need to know who the OC will be before they can really start looking at that.
