The much lauded Drew Richmond might be convinced to come out of retirement and sit on the PR for the season if he's convinced Lofton has safely locked up the ORT job and he'll never have to play.

Didn't he try to strong-arm the team for more money?  I don't the club wanting to bring him back after that.

Here's a cut at Week 1 roster (Need 6 Canadians on O every snap, 1 Canadian on D every snap):   QB- Collaros, Streveler, Wilson   RB- OLIVIERA,    AUGUSTINE, ROSERY, Smith*

Mcghee and Ford seem locked in on the corner spots, Like to see more of them.

Could McGhee play himself off the roster?

I haven't been to camp but he didn't look good last game and was picked on a fair bit.  I'm actually hoping another DB steps up and takes that spot because I don't have a whole lot of faith there.

Nope ....his statement was that he lost interest in football and retired ....which came shortly after the money offer....same dif I guess....After someone makes a statement like that , I think that's the end of the line....Kind of a shame as we had high hopes for the guy

That's his statement.  3D article says they couldn't agree on a restructured contract so he bailed.  So he was under contract already and either asked for more or they asked him to take a pay cut going into a season where he was expected to play.  I'm guessing it was the former and not the latter.

The six-foot-five, 314-pound blocker was the front-runner to replace Jermarcus Hardrick at right tackle in Winnipeg but elected to retire when he and the club couldn’t agree on a restructured contract for 2024.

hasn't wowed me at all...and there are some talented guys in camp...ones with different body types aswell that I think would be beneficial...hopefully he isnt getting the spot....for the "just cause he was here last yr and we liked him" mantra

I think that is always a chance, we've seen established good dbs play them self off the team fast. Bridges, hackett, and bond seem likely to be close to mcghee.

I think Norman is likely to stick around if they like his game at all, with his upside to be a next gen sam, half, or S. Fuller has a huge lean frame with tons of up side too. Bond and hackett are smaller play makers, where as Bridges has the typical db size.

I don't know, but what else would you call it when the signal you're receiving is weak or inconsistent?

Ah, just giving you a hard time. I'm old. I think my kids just scream "the WiFi is broken!!!" from the basement, even if they are on a wired connection.

Edit: Dammit, missed a perfect joke. "Receiving is weak or inconsistent? Why I would call that a Kamau Peterson!"

it'd be nice if the league put together a panel of fans, media and such to make suggestions to the league to investigate. I've seen lots of great ideas on here, (especially from JBR, mike etc) on adjustments to rules and roster. The league and rule change committee seem stagnant. Fresh Ideas might go a long way. Some on line games, and companies do pretty extensive rounds of this bringing customers in house to bounce ideas off of and get core ideas from.

I totally love what you're saying here. However, you cannot organize bureaucrats to support innovation. A couple of things we can do is (1) write a formal letter to the powers that be from this website. We would have to know where to address the letter: the Commissioner, the board of governors, individual team presidents, the players Association, and at TSN which decision-makers. (2) a separate website could be set up for fans across the country, for the individual players, for coaches and money management, etc. to float their ideas. It could become a debate site that the CFL marketing committee would be able to follow. Like any bureaucracy the real decisions are made behind the scenes by the unseen leaders who drive that decision-making process.

It would also be worthwhile to follow the NFL rule changes and see how they might adapt to our game.

yes let's kick off from mid field and have zero kick off returns like the NFL.  I watch NFL and wonder why they even bother kicking off.  Just let the opposition scrimmage from the 20 or 25 or whatever it is after the extra point try and give up on kick offs.  Also - let's add fair catches to punts and never have any punt returns either.  LOL

we do have brains… Some of the stuff would really help,, other stuff should be avoided like the plague,

For example, the NFL protect the quarterback rules would really help us up here with our franchise quarterbacks

our kicking game is unique and those kind of NFL rules would just add up to stupidity for us

Sounds like the Internet and we all know how constructive discussion on that forum usually turns out, what you're describing is an unresolvable discussion that leads nowhere. Nevertheless the opinions of jack-of-all-trades Stan and Jerry the garbageman should be heard!

Finally, a taste of 2024 football what a joyous day for us all! I was pumped for this game before they dropped the roster.

But now it looks like it's going to be a snoozefest for fans. For us fans in the know, it's a perfect chance to focus on and enjoy some specific positional battles, rather than just watching the ball. The funny thing is, today's results mean almost squat to some degree. I guarantee one player will shine today and still get cut before the deadline. It just shows the real decisions happen in practice and the film room, which we'll never see. That's the mystery of pro football, so let's buckle up and enjoy the ride. Football starts in 6 days

It’s just bad reporting overall, the context behind this situation makes it all seem very reasonable. Richmond had job opportunities in the US and to make it worth his while to stay, he needed to be at a certain pay tier. Everyone involved handled this properly, it just didn’t work out.
