  • Winning the cup made collaros untouchable here.    Gotta hope Nichols lands on his feet though. The work he did to help turn this team around means a lot and always will.

  • Nichols , in the end, will always be a successful Bomber QB. He took a 1-4 team in 2016 and propelled us to where we are today, contenders and now champions. He saved everyones jobs and it's a shame h

Marshall Ferguson did some extensive digging and put out a thorough breakdown of Collaros' production through four games to cap off last season and the team's championship run.

It's a great read: https://www.cfl.ca/2020/01/28/ferguson-breaking-collaros-2019-starts-winnipeg/

would love to see this compared with other QBs and offences.  It seems so weird for a CFL offence to throw nothing deeper than 15 yards in the middle of the field.

wonder if this is just data illustrating the constant gripe that the 2019 bombers had no midrange passing attack, everything was either a dump play or a bomb.

also wonder if this is a turnover minimization strategy, if you never throw into the middle of the defence then there are fewer defenders around to pick the ball off.  Look where the two picks happened; in a crowded area of the field.

also x 3 wonder if consistently passing outside is going to widen the defence and the gaps for Harris to hit...

Wasn't sure where to put this, but this thread seems as good as anything........re: Our QB situation.......

Will be interesting to see how our O redefines itself after losing Lapo, MN and Strev.

Any full back QB's available on the market?

Wonder what happened with Matt in T.O.......After his trip back there....crickets AND now the announcement today they have re-upped Bethel-Thompson...Is Matt out of the picture there???could he return to the fold...??

My guess is they went in there thinking the Argos were going to throw gobs of money at them, and instead got a base offer + performance bonus targets.  Balked, and they said "fine, MBT has more upside anyways".  He definitely has a better arm, and is more mobile.  Not surprised they'd roll the dice on him over Nichols!

Love how everyone is pretending our offence was not dysfunctional for half of last season...

collaros and buck will show us where I could have improved - I have no doubt

Love how everyone who complains about the dysfunctional offence pretends it had to do with the LaPo system and Nichols checkdowns and ignores the fact that Streveler taking over the controls coincides with the decrease in production (and wins).

Except we beat nothing but garbage teams with Nichols. We got a win over Calgary that was due to Janarion Grant and a timely interception, aside from that we beat horrible teams and pissed away a huge lead against Toronto.

Collaros (2x), Streveler and Nichols all started against Calgary and Nichols had BY FAR the worst game of the bunch. Let’s stop pretending that Nichols had anything to do with our wins. We won a Grey Cup without Nichols, which is something we never came close to achieving with him.

I think everyone acknowledges that we wouldn't have won a Grey Cup with Streveler at the helm...  and that Collaros showed that it wasn't all on Lapo

Professional football is professional football. You can’t say how Nichols would have done in the second half without playing the games but only speculate. But I think a lot of people would disagree with you on the fact that I don’t think we win the grey cup if it’s not for Nichols being this teams starting qb.

I would have debated some of your points, but if this is your default position, that our 7-2 starting QB had nothing to do with any of our success at all, then there is really no point in trying to reason with you.

The year the Bombers lost the semi final to the lions at the stadium with Nichols as QB, if they hadhalf the defence they had for the last part of this season, the Bombers would have demolished the lions. (nice sentence!  )

NIchols played really well in that game, and deserved a win, the defence absolutely stunk, five Bombers missed tackles on a fifteen yard run for a TD in that game, just awful defence.

Crapping on Nichols is dumb.

Yeah, that 7-2 start certainly didn't help the team make the playoffs or anything. Oh, wait...

Also, your bolded part is wrong. Nichols' QB efficiency vs. CGY in week 9 was 100.2 (in a win), while Streveler's in week 19 @ CGY was 59.2 (in a loss).

It looks like your NDS is starting to flare up again, causing you to post made-up claims and hopelessly ignorant comments. It's amazing the lengths you'll go to vilify the former. And by amazing, I mean pitiful.
