April 27, 20196 yr comment_388579 UFC was happy with Winnipeg.. They specifically said they would be back due to all the unfortunate circumstances. Don't think there were that many comps, likely less than in other places. But UFC has lost some of its steam recently. Not as popular today. No real new stars.

My theory is that a lot of people were burned with the first card that was god awful boring. Also the atmosphere was terrible lots of fights in the crowd and lots of shady audience members that would turn off more people. Watching MMA live is nowhere near as good as watching it on tv. It's terrible if you are not near the cage. Lastly cards are heavily dependent on star power or having a local guy headlining. Lots of factors on why things didn't go well.

Over 4000 comps and the place still wasn't full it was really bad. Considering the first card sold instantly.

UFC always spins everything in a positive light even when things are obviously not going well. I never trust anything Dana White says it's all bullshit. Who said anything about Dana? I do agree with not believing what he says though. The gate for the event was about 780k which, for a fight night, is above average. The card a week earlier in Fresno had a gate of 570k & Virginia a month earlier earned 640k. If you're strictly comparing it to the ppv event from years earlier, then yes it would be a disappointment but that's an apples/oranges comparison. If you compare it to other fight night cards across the continent, then it was actually a bit of a success.
April 27, 20196 yr comment_388600 it's not hockey after all, FotWJ made a mistake Unfortunately we got it wrong about the World Junior Showcase; the big...........announcement is that Canada's basketball team will play a World Cup warmup vs Nigeria on August 9th.
