Considering what kind of mess the Bombers were in when Harris started his CFL career, I'm not sure it would have been doing him any favour to have drafted him then.

Teams paid for players college and they got very involved at the high school level to find the best prospects early on. There were always home town hero's on every team. It was a great system, especially in the west.
